To start, me and my FIL have had our ups and downs through the years. From what I have heard he use to be a great father when my husband and sister in law where younger. But the man I know, IV drugs, no job - living off the survivors checks from his wife who passed away from IV drug use, giving away every cent of that to "girlfriends" on the internet that promised him the world only to never show up, and so much more. He did all of this and expected me and my husband to take care of his every need, cook him food, shelter, cigarettes, our internet where he could talk to the "girlfriends", rides anywhere he wanted to go, and to come and go as he pleased.
You can skip this next part to get to my dilemma or read for a little context this is a summary not everything he put us through
《A little of his story: He had a fully functioning house, water, electricity, gas, heating and ac. Started really getting into drugs, and the "girlfriends" well there went the money for the bills and food. Around this time we decided to put a trailer on some property he owned and in return keep up and maintain the 3 acres (because he wasn't and the city was on him). When signing the land rental agreement he unbeknownst to us put we had to pay him $400 to stay on the property. So we paid that to him but he also wasn't paying the property tax on the land, we paid that too. All the while every summer and winter when it got to hot/cold he stayed with us rent free ate our food and made himself at home. Coming and going as he pleased sometimes with our vehicles...gone for days. We decided we had enough of living by his terms since we were on his land and he felt like he could access our home anytime he felt like... so we got a house. While the trailer was in selling limbo he broke into it, rented it out falsified our names to have utilities cut on. ~ fast forward a bit he sells his house and gave the money to a "girlfriend" and started drawing early retirement. Still giving every penny to different "girlfriends" and dumpster diving for food. With the trailer finally off his land he made essentially a homeless camp and invited his druggy friend to slum it up with him. Still coming to our house during the summer and the winter to survive and mooch off of us. We'll his druggy friends kick him off "his" property (it got sold at auction). He started living with other druggy friends but they had no running water food, anything really but a house and electricity. He starts taking the bus to our house and randomly showing up for food. Somehow my husband convinced me to let him live here instead of like a homless man. I agree.》 ☆I'd like to add while all of this was happening we found out our son was level 3 autistic needing significant supports, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, ABA therapy, so we had our hands full☆
Back to the main point... he came to live with us, I expected withdrawals from the drugs, well after a few months I noticed he wasn't getting better, 3 months of begging him to go to the doctor even me putting him on medicaid where he could go... refused right until 2 weeks ago when he could barely breathe. I bring him to a quick care they take and x ray and tell us to immediately go to the hospital. Hospital 3 blood clots, and what they suspect to be level 3 or 4 lung cancer (won't know until they do an out patient biopsy). They do a few surgeries 1 to remove the 2 blood clots in his lungs 2 to put a filter in his heart. He is currently in rehab to build the strength to come home.
■ Problem ■ During the hospital stay my sister in law swoops in after having nothing to do with her dad for years, doctor told her her dad would have a year to live, doctor told my husband 4 to 9 months to live. Sister in law knows someone who has stage 4 lung cancer and has been alive for 3-4 years with it thinks the doctor doesn't know what he's talking about. I asked if we should put him in a home after rehab, i have a lot to juggle with my son. Sister in law shoots down that idea with a bit of an attitude, and says he WIL stay at home as long as possible. ○keep this in mind○ I explained to her I'm putting our son back in speech therapy and occupational therapy during the summer (school provides it during the year) and we have had a disney trip planned for over a year now, my sister in laws wife is a teacher and says she'll help. We find out he is getting out this Friday (tomorrow), we leave for Disney Sunday and don't get back till Saturday night. I explain he cant stay at my house unattended especially just coming out of rehab. He is now on oxygen and has to use a walker, I just know in my bones my father in law is going to fall. I say he can go to your house for a week and come back or you can come stay at our house for a week till we come back and then I'll take over care. NOPE my sister in law says, he can't come to her house ... I put my foot down ... he isn't staying here unattended. She responded with well I guess he's just going to have to go into a home.
FIRST OFF I NEVER WANTED TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR DYING FATHER, I am disabled and have my appointments to attend as well as my son's therapy appointments to attend but you just expected me to take care of him till he died. I got over it and accepted that I was going to be his caretaker, even though this shouldn't have been my responsibility.
It all boils down to it was okay when I was going to take full care of him, but when you need to take care of him for 1 week (7 days) he has got to go into a home.
I am livid, am I in the wrong?

I know traditional sense is that my wife and I shouldn't count an inheritance until it hits our account. However, that seems a bit too conservative from a planning standpoint. My parents are quite well off, owning a lot of real-estate (apartments). I will likely get ~ 2 million from them when they pass, which if I look at averages will be 10-15 years from now. I also have an aunt who is in a similar situation who will leave me around 1 million when she passes in 10-15 years.
We are both early 30s, no desire for kids, no debt other than the house and about an 80K a year lifestyle (including mortgage payments). we already have $1,100,000 invested in VTSAX or Equiv. with 60% of that in tax advantage and 40% in after-tax brokerage. We also have 400K equity in a home we purchased for ~650K and is now worth nearing 900K. We have $473,000 left on our mortgage at 3% interest rate (30-yr fixed).
We are trying to decide how much we should continue to save vs. spend, determine if we want to take time away from our careers and travel the world, or just have my wife quit her job.
I'm thinking maybe we assume 50% of the inheritance, in 20 years, to be conservative? Does that sound like a reasonable approach from a financial planning standpoint?

I never ever use a plagiarism checker because I've heard they can save ur work to a database and then other people can access it. My university has Turnitin similarity checker turned off when you upload a file so I can't do it that way. For whatever reason, for this one exam, I decided to put 1/2 essays through a plagiarism checker. The essay that I submitted, most plagiarism flagged up by Turnitin is from essay databases and dodgy websites.
I got an email from my Department saying they're calling a meeting as I have a 34% Turnitin similarity. I've been sent an annotated copy of my exam with highlights for each plagiarised part that Turnitin has flagged up.
13% is apparently plagiarised from student papers submitted to my own University. For this, it has highlighted the cover sheet, titles, and footnotes, which of course, everyone on the module would use them same.
The rest is either 'submitted to ____ university' (some other universities), or some dodgy websites which can no longer be accessed, apart from one, which is an example essay database.
I did NOT plagiarise, I did this exam myself!! I have my essay plans and reading notes to prove it.
My university, under academic integrity, recommends you not to ever use websites like Grammarly or plagiarism checkers, as it could be sold to other students, and its up to us to uphold Integrity. I don't know what compelled me to do this for this exam but now I'm being investigated.
When I have the meeting, I'm going to explain that I have evidence of all the reading and essay plan to prove I did it myself. (However there is one sentence that I forgot to paraphrase and is an unreferenced direct quote, which was flagged up...)
I have heard people at my university say that the Panel take mitigating circumstances into account, and I have a lot of issues on record for this term. Senior staff in my School are aware of this, so I don't know if that will help.
Do I admit to using plagiarism checkers? Because I think that in itself is a form of academic malpractice. So even if they decide I didn't plagiarise and its clear that I came up with the ideas myself, what if I get flagged up for admitting to using a checker?

The writing in this game is amazing, and the views are gorgeous - the combat feels great.
But one thing I'm noticing is that the game seems very stingy with actually showing me things to do.

• Strangers appear when you get near, but they're mostly scavenger hunts that feel extremely intimidating on a world as large as this.
  
• Story missions are highlighted, but I explicitly don't want to rush them and miss the whole game.
  
• Hunting legendary animals is great, but there doesn't seem to be a way to locate them apart from stumbling upon their spots at random.
  
• Hunting in general is fun, but also frustrating. I literally cannot get a perfect pelt for the life of me, even when I sneak up to an animal, use my lasso and then knife-kill it, the pelt is always either poor or good. There's also not much point to it, because you can carry so little meat and every animal gives so much. Not to mention that it isn't worth anything so you can't even hunt to fund the camp, at least not when compared to robbing people on the road. A single platinum pocketwatch is worth more than like 6 deer carcasses carried to Pearson.
  
• Bounties are fun, but there seem to be like 2 per city and not much else to do there apart from visit shops which all carry mostly identical items to every other town.
  
• There's home robbery tips, but I tried to find one and the directions were so frustratingly rare I gave up after searching for like half an hour.
  
• Poker is fun but I could just play that irl with my actual friends, so I don't really see the point personally. The pots are always really low so it's not even any good for making money.
  

I'm currently in, I think, the middle of chapter 2? Blackwater's area is completely red, and I just finished the Train Robbery where you use the oil wagon. Does the game open up further with more things to do if I do these Act 2 story missions?

I was a little cringed out at first by how XL was acting, but she got a lot better after her realization that if she kept acting that way, even if they got together, JSC would have no respect for her. It's so clear, early on that he actually does care about her. The>! hair tie garbage scene cracked me up, and so did him 'hypothetically asking about kissing' and then watching romance dramas trying to figure out what she is doing.!<
I was also wondering what their age difference is supposed to be, after what we learned in episode 16, clearly their only a 4-5 years apart in age max.
I do like that while this is a bit of a romantic drama, it doesn't seem to be over the top with major drama every episode. It seems to be more sweet.
I was hoping to discuss what people were thinking about what might happen next. Episode 16 dropped today. There are 20 more episodes left to go, and>! I am glad they are together already!<....and I cannot stress how much I hope there is not some major misunderstanding that happens that breaks them up for a while. (1) For the Drivers, Have you picked up an order and no maps could pick up the exact address? You reach out to The Customer all they say is use google maps, On top of only information is leave at my door.. But you see A mailbox with the address on it really big but not the house so you left it at the mailbox and took a picture of it and then called Customer support to cover yourself and they saw the picture as well and said nope you're good you did what you needed to do. Hi reddit, I have a question about an out of touch friend. This is going to be a long post, sorry !
Basically there's this girl I know, and when we were younger we were inseparable, we considered ourselves sisters. Our families were intertwined. Her mother was dating my older brother, and she and I really hit it off too. We quickly became each other's biggest confidantes, wherever one was the other one was right there beside her. We spent as much time as we could together. We were both homeschooled, so we'd spend weeks at a time at each other's houses, spent the holidays together, etc.. we helped each other grow a lot as people, I know she especially helped me come out of my shell. I can't imagine being the person I am today without her guidance, she helped me become confident in myself back when I was just a chubby kid who thought she was the ugliest most worthless goblin on the planet.
We always said we'd be best friends, even if they broke up. But as we grew up, we started drifting apart. I can't say when it started to happen for sure. She was always getting into relationships, and they always ended really really bad. And I was always there to pick up the pieces. But when she was in these relationships, I noticed she'd really pull away from me and everyone else she was close to. I thought maybe that's what had happened. But I don't know for sure really.
Even after she got out of the last bad one she was in. Something was different I guess. She stopped texting and calling as much, stopped making plans to hang out. But she was always hanging out with other people. And I know your best friend is allowed to have other friends, but it was like I just didn't exist anymore. And we talked about the growing rift, and she'd apologize and say she didn't know why she was pulling away and that she'd do better. And I tell her it was okay and we'd both do better. And I tried. But it always felt like nothing I said or did would reach her.
So I stopped trying. And when I stopped trying, it was pretty much over. And then my mom died. And she was there for the funeral with me, and I really appreciated her being there. And I stayed at her house that night because I couldn't stay at home, and it really felt like things were going to be okay again. But as quick as she showed back up she was gone. And then my brother and her mom broke up. And she got a new boyfriend, and so did I. And life has moved on for us. I'm 22 now, she's 21.
We work together now, and whenever I see her she's always polite to me. She talks to me like we're still friends, says we need to catch up and hang out, and at first I was excited. I took what she said to heart, and just like before when I did try to reach out, no responses back or she'd back out of plans last minute. And now it just hurts whenever I see her. And I have to be so fake when I talk to her, because it's like there's a band restricting my heart and I want to cry when I see her and ask what I did wrong. I want to scream at her for being fake. But I don't do anything but smile and nod til she leaves. And I wonder if she can see the pain on my face, and can see how hurt and uncomfortable I am. Because despite how long it's been since we were actually close, those were some of the best years of my life. And I miss the friend I used to have. And I think about her so often, even though I really try not to. And I still love her so much.
I went so far as to unadd her off all social media, but even doing that and with trying to avoid her at work I can't completely escape her. Some of my closest friends are, unfortunately, mutual friends with her. And so when we hang out, they'll mention her, something they did together or what she's been up to lately and I just have to smile and nod until they're done and I'm sick of doing that. And I'm sick of hearing about her second-hand.
Sorry for the rant, the point of this post is to ask a question. My question is, should I try one last time? Should I try one last time to reach out? Or should I just let her go, for good? My wife and I currently live in a condo that's under my wife's name. This has been our primary residence for about 5 years.
I have another condo that was our previously primary residence, but has been rented out for the past 5 years. This one is under my name.
Now we are about to upgrade to a bigger house. We would like to sell both our condos after closing out the new house because we dont want to deal with the headaches of being a landlord.
I understand that selling and buying primary residence should not trigger any tax. However, what to do with our second condo? I would like to use the proceedings to pay off some of the principals for our new house, so technically it's used for our primary residence.

Hi guys! I rent a two bedroom condo unit in Toronto as a single tenant. I asked my landlord if I can bring in a roommate for my second bedroom as an occupant (not part of the lease but hoping we can do a roommate agreement) but my landlord refused. It doesn't fall under sublet nor assignment so the rta is not clear.
According to this site, I don't even need consent from the landlord. I asked out of courtesy but I am not sure. I don't necessarily want to ruin my relationship with the landlord but I want to now my rights as a tenant.

It’s the summertime which is the slowest season of the year for us, and I want to spend this “off-season” trying to see how I can implement ai technology to help my business save time and money.
Areas where I think ai can help my business are:
Customer inquiries
A chatbot that is trained to our business model can help reduce my customer service teams tasks. It would potentially answer questions that pertain to custom embroidery or pricing.
Quoting
I already have a custom product builder application on our website where customers can purchase products with customizations (sometimes it’s as many as 8 customizations per product). Customers can then check out and this process is I deal for us as it doesn’t require anyone from our customer service team to intervene.
Sadly, this only accounts for 30-35% of sales. The majority of customers would prefer to contact us via Facebook messenger or email, where we will collect information pertaining to what they are interested in. My CS team will then send them relevant order form templates where the customer will then download and edit themselves, and send back to us to manually quote. Sometimes the documents they send back are 10-20 pages long with 10-30 products.
I am thinking I can train AI to learn our custom complex pricing structure, and my CS team and just upload the document and have the chatbot or ai quote for them. They can then quickly check for inaccuracies and send the quote to the customer saving time.
Graphic Design
Currently I employ two full time graphic designers to help with custom artwork requests. They are trained to specifically draw designs optimal for embroidery (vector artwork, no gradients, clear color separation, thick lines). I charge a $60/hr graphic design rate. I believe the majority of the time spent for my graphic designers is figuring out that the customer wants, so there is a lot of back and forth between designer and customer. The main issue with this is these custom art jobs take a while to complete and my orders that also need custom redrawing typically have a very long lead time because of this.
I was wondering if there are ai applications that can help this process, whether it be a plug-in for a website or a tool my graphic designers can use that I can train to generate art based on prompts to my specifications.

I haven’t given birth yet but need advice since my MIL comes to visit us from abroad when the baby is around 1m.
1) MIL purchased clothes for baby for 18m: summer dress and summer bodysuit. Our baby will be 18m in winter, and we live where winters are cold.
In response, I thanked her but asked not to purchase anything not present in the baby registry that I was still preparing at that moment. Some time later she calls us and tells that she purchased something and already sent a package and also was just in the mall choosing more stuff for the baby.
I remind her about baby registry again and due to her behavior I’m literally forced to finish the registry in a hurry because I don’t want us to possess things we’ll never use; her financial status right now also isn’t at best so I’d rather have her spend money on something we really need.
2) I asked my mom to renew her vaccinations and check for necessary medical examinations before seeing our baby and she carefully did. When I mentioned vaccines to MIL, she said “nobody here gets them seriously, so should you” (she lives in a more developed country, and by saying this she implies that her judgement is better).
3) she is sad that I won’t get a C section.
First, I was prepared to have a scheduled C section due to medical issues but gladly it fixed and now I’m up for a natural birth.
She talked to my husband saying how this is sad to her and whether I can still opt for a C section just “because it’s better”. I’m not listening to her but what I don’t like is that she makes my husband think that my choice is false.
All of these sound to me as if my boundaries are ignored and I’m afraid what may happen when she’s here.
When she comes, we have an intention to rent a separate apartment for her stay. What else can I and my husband do for this to be the least traumatic experience for us all including a baby? Or maybe I’m really overthinking?

Can anyone advise me? Two months ago, I returned a rental car to Enterprise, and there was a very small chip to the windscreen that I hadn't noticed: about an eighth the size of a 5p piece about one inch from the top of the windscreen, which was picked up on the return check.
Leaving aside the fact they've drawn it out to nearly ten weeks, they've come back today with a cost of over £600 to repair it. Obviously, if I had noticed, I'd have taken it to be filled for forty quid (I'm aware this is not permitted, but, sadly Enterprise are the only option where I live, and I do periodically need to rent a car.) - do I have any legal recourse to challenge this?
(I have excess insurance - it's the fact that this feels very gougey Indeed, coupled with their f- ing about for weeks on end, and as though they've had a new windscreen on me: the manager even said to me, "we have to take the £1000, but it won't be more than a few hundred at the very, very most, and you should get your refund in a week or two".)
I realise that I likely have to suck it up but I just wanted to know if I have any legal options as well.
