I was driving down a business dead end street today. One where there’s a bunch of semi trucks going to a dozen different warehouses. And I had a stop allllll the way at the end.
Well. Halfway down there’s a semi literally parked across the street perpendicular to the flow of traffic. It looks like he’s having a little bit of trouble maneuvering to his dock… taking his time and he stops completely for the 5-10 seconds I’m driving up to him. There’s just enough space for me to squeeze by on the left and I shoot on through. This asshat jumps the truck at me right when I pass him. I give home a friendly honk and I make my delivery
Now on my way back out this guy runs out into the middle of the street… flags me down and says. Something like you know that was a real dick move what you did back there I just wanted to let you know you should wait for me to clear the street before you pass.
I kindly responded with a single question “how much money do you make”. … “more than you” is the response

Have you ever had a friend or family member that got weirdly threatened or jealous when you said you were starting to write? What’s up with that? Seems like a harmless activity, so who in their right mind would want to stop someone from doing it?
I get my family scoffing and saying “Sure, Jan.” As they’re very petty and not supportive. I know they’re d*cks so I’m used to it and don’t tell them anything about my current life anymore. But a friend recently got super weirded out when I told her I was starting to write.
Both of my parents died in the last couple of years, I did grief counseling, and that’s when I discovered the healing power of writing. I also wrote both of their obituaries for our family, and got a lot of very positive feedback telling me they were extremely powerful. (My only “published” work so far aside from some stuff in high school literary magazine.)
My BFF from college and I didn’t talk for many years because a lot of things happened between us (that’s a story for a different subreddit.) Basically codependent female friendship stuff where we started out inseparable, then became competitive frienemies. Years passed and we’re older now. The first time we reconnected we went to dinner and she talked on her cell phone to other people in her industry the entire night. When she wasn’t on her phone she was bragging about her fabulous career in Hollywood. I know this behavior stems from low self esteem, but it was still infuriating. The next day she emailed me a very long missive about how my husband was “stealing (my) sparkle.” I told her off and we didn’t speak again for a couple of years.
We reconnected again recently, she apologized for her rude behavior the last time we met, and admitted it was based in insecurity on her part. We’ve been going to coffee and talking about our mutual dysfunctional families. It’s very healing. One day she told me about drama in a writing group she had joined. I listened, gave feedback, then I excitedly told her I had started writing too, and that I had taken some writing workshops online. I thought it would be awesome to have a friend who also writes, but I could actually see the annoyance in her face as I told her. After that, every time she and I spoke about writing, she said things like “Why don’t you try selling your artwork? You’re such a talented painter. I know a guy who sells his art at a kiosk in the (rundown and abandoned) mall! You could do that too. Want me to give him your number?” WTF? Was I stepping on her territory? I didn’t get into it because it was so weird. And I’m reluctant to call people on their crap, due to this blowing up in my face with family in the past.
One day we were sitting in the park drinking coffee, and I was telling her a story about how my brother and his wife started trolling me with peeps. She laughed and said, “These stories are hilarious! You should paint about them!” 🤔😐 I really had to stop myself from responding “Yeah or I could write them down.” Which is what I’m doing. Another day I mentioned a one day short story class I took, and how my goal was to get something published one day. She looked down, laughed, then quickly changed the subject.
She started sending me samples of her writing. But it became clear to me that this was not going to be a mutual exchange, as I was her audience. It’s all so ridiculous. Anyway I’m enjoying the friendship for what it is, and now I change the subject when writing comes up.
But I’m curious, have you ever encountered people being weirdly threatened or judgmental when you talk about writing?

The City of Oakland asked for $30.2 million as part of their TOWN project (Transforming Oakland's Waterfront Neighborhoods). Some Background
- Back in the A's 2021 term sheet, they estimated the off-site infrastructure to cost $351.9 million and they proposed to front that money and get paid back by the City from a tax district and increase in property taxes in the area. The City rejected this and instead told the A's they would provide the funding for the off-site infrastructure.
- Since then, costs have increased due to inflation and the change in funding structure. The City has stated they have secured $375 million in grant with $100 million in pending grants. This $30.2 million is presumably part of that $100 million. In April 2023, Casey Pratt reported here that he is hearing the estimate off-site infrastructure costs are now closer to $567 million and that there is about a $90 million gap.
- This is off-site infrastructure, meaning not as part of the 50 acre Howard Terminal site. These infrastructure upgrades are needed with or without a ballpark.

My phone was on silent so I wasn't responded to their texts/messages. A while later they all found and they were so, so worried about me. They thought that something awful had happened and had been frantically searching the entire park. And I realized that they really do care about me, but instead of it being an "Aww, how sweet." Sort of moment, I physically felt sick.
It's not their fault at all. I think I liked the idea but in reality, knowing that they genuinely worry for me and are close to me sort of disgusts me. I'm not trying to be ungrateful but at the same time the thought of being unable to keep them at a distance is repulsive.

I currently live in a dog friendly apartment with a closed in courtyard so when my pit terrier gets high energy I just go downstairs, let him off leash, and chase him around/let him explore and zoom to tire him out for 10-15 minutes. Problem is, I'm about to move out. The new place has a dog park ~20 min walk away but no other nearer off leash areas for him to sprint. Would love some recommendations for alternative quick ways to tire him out.

Me and my girlfriend are visiting the north of thailand for 5 days during july
but i don't know what is really worth the visit :
we heard about a different sort of things so here are my questions :
Should we book the hotel now for 5 days straight in chiang mai or wait until we will be there ?
We are planning to do a day at elephant park ,do you have recommondation ?
We are planning to do a cooking class ? which one ? and should we do a full day or half of it ?
We here that we can do a day trip de chiang rai and the golden triangle , go to pai or even Mae Hong Son ?
What is a must do ?
Should we rent scoot even if we don't have license ?
What are the must do in chiang mai ? like the best temples and stuff ?
I'm sorry it's a lot of questions but we want to plan our trip the best way possible and there is so much information that is mindblowing !

You know how handicapped parking spots sometimes have that area next to them with the diagonal stripes? That vans might use for a wheelchair ramp?
Ok so at my work we have one of those striped spots but there is no official handicap parking spot on either side. We do have handicap spots in another area of the lot. Anyway, there’s this really nice Audi that keeps parking in the striped spot. It’s never anyone else—just this one person.
It is driving me absolutely insane whenever I see it. It probably shouldn’t bother me as much as it does, but boy it does. I’ve done some soul searching to figure out why it makes me so mad lol. For me it symbolizes 1) entitled people and 2) very privileged people who take from those not as privileged or who have special needs (in this case, wheelchairs or motorized scooter users).
I want to report them to the police but is that overkill? Being that there are no official handicap parking spots on either side, does it even matter? Should I leave a note on their windshield as a warning first? I just don’t think they would take a note seriously. I also don’t want to be that crazy lady that calls the police for something that maybe isn’t a big deal. I already know for a fact that I’m going to be a very grouchy old lady when I’m elderly but I’m only 38 now lol🥴

First, as some context, I'm 22 y.o. and I make my living by taking care of other people's dogs at my house. I'm from México. If there they are any specific words or terms for anything im describing i'd be really thankful if you told me so, I'm a non-native english speaker. Three days ago while walking my dogs I found a pitbull-mix momma and her two puppies at a nearby park. I don't usally pick up stray dogs because since my "dog hotel" is my main income source, it'd be endangering for my clients (since the strays may be sick, have ticks etc) and whould imply me "taking a break" from my business while I cover all their health needs.
This time, I saw them (they were REALLY close to my house) and I simply couldn't ignore them. They were at that park all cuddled up, hungry, scared and thirsty. I have this issue where I feel like I'm very mediocre because I WANT to do things but I don't. Like I'm too scared to try.
Things happend and I ended up taking the three dogs to my house. Rn I only have 1 client dog at my place and my 2 own dogs. I have been keeping momma and puppies on our front patio. From the first moment I knew bringing them home whould be a bad idea for the things I have already stated, but I didn't think this situation whould make me so overwhelmed so quickly.
I feel this way because I don't have much money at all. I had 6500 MXN saved up (aprox. 374 USD) which I intended to use to buy a new phone since mine is not working well anymore. I know for a fact those 6500 MNX won't be enough for their whole health protocol. And unless they are fully vaccinated and neutered I can't bring clients home and therefore can't make more money. I have already spent over 1/3 of the money just in food and general veterinary care. Haven't applied a single vaccine yet. Neutering them is gonna be 92 bucks, meaning im running out of money.
My dilemma started yesterday. I stated thinking of calling animal protection so they'd take them but... I know that might end in them being put to sleep. I know I can look for adopters or a temporary home but for that I need time and more money to fulfill their vaccines and neuter. I almost had a panic attack lastnight due to this.
I already have had to turn down two clients due to this situation and (since the doggies are at my front patio) I can't even take the other dogs out for walks because they'd have to go through where the girls are and that's a huge risk.
I'm kindof emotionally numb so if this text is weird im sorry. Please don't judge me.

(Apologies in advance for the long rant)
This is a continuation of my previous post.. Essentially nothing has changed for the better. I'm in the army and I graduated AIT but I'm stuck here do the order of protection against me. I paid the wife $800 to file for divorce which she eventually did however is refusing to serve me. Since I'm not a resident here I can't file where I'm currently at due to laws of Arizona.
I talked to attorneys, JAGG etc. Basically I have to wait until she does the right thing or get approval for leave to file myself.
Now, today at 1400, she scammed me into paying her to get my electronics back from the pawn shop. However, the pawn shop already sold the items months ago as they were PS5 and Xbox series X.
Now here's the kicker she apparently sold those back in March a little over a week after she got caught cheating and filed for an order of protection against me so I couldn't get approved emergency leave to divorce her.
I'm now stuck playing the waiting game with the BC as only the BC has the authority to give me the leave I need to deal with this situation. Meanwhile cops won't do anything about the theft due to me still being legally married to her she's able to take loans in my name, steal my stuff and sell it and even kill my dog and i can't do anything about it except sue her after I get out of the army or if I get approved leave and can afford an attorney.
AR 608-99 forces me to pay her $1200 something and then due to my name being apart of her bills I also have to pay $760+ essentially 2k a month to her. She knows this as she works at one of the county courts as a clerk for civil..
So I'm in a situation where I'm not able to get help and forced to sit and watch my wife cheat on me, steal from me, etc and be powerless to do anything about it and I have to pay her to do this to me on top of everything else.
I'm just a nobody PV2. I don't blame the army or my chain of command as they are doing what they can but I'm stuck in a tough position 😅
I also can't afford to pay the attorney for that county 12k to represent me in the divorce. Otherwise, I'd have gone that route months ago...
