Maybe that title is a bit too cheesy, but I really do like exploring the night sky. Helps especially since my hometown was a great place to do so. That all aside, hello! I am Pydras, fat cat collector, lessor avatar of chaos, and most boring of all, corporate accountant. I am to find people to potentially connect with and see what develops. Whether that leads to friendship or something more will remain to be seen, but life is short so have to get out there and try!
A little more about me! As stated earlier, I am a corporate accountant, working in BC, currently planning to start saving up for a house where I am at now. I am quite fond of cooking, and decent enough at it as well! I would say at least 67% of it would be tolerable to most people. Since my job is basically just sitting around all day, I try and workout at least three or four times a week to stay active and in shape. That being said I do have a sweet tooth that I am quite good at managing, except for my weakness of homemade baked goods. Art wise, I really have no skills in most of those areas except for writing (use to do some RP back in the day). Well, I do make quite the horrible MS Paint masterpiece if the inspiration hits, so that might count. Politically I am quite on the left side, and religion wise I tend to fall more into agnosticism and atheism.
For subject interests, my top three would probably have to be history, geography, and geology. One of my favourite things to do when bored is open Google maps and go to a random area and see what I can learn of those three for it. However, my absolute biggest interest and the one I hold closest to me is music. While I can't really play an instrument (have been trying to relearn piano), I usually have some sort of playlist on if I am not too busy or in a loud environment. I can literally go into paragraphs upon paragraphs about some of my favourite songs. Just about what I like about them, how they make me feel, etc. I am always up for sharing or creating playlists with someone, I truly feel like music is one of the better ways to get to know someone. My usual genres end up to alternative, indie, and math rock, but I will really just listen to anything that I like the sound of.
Hobby wise, it sort of depends on what time of the year it is. If the weather is nice in the spring or summer, I love to go for long walks and hiking. Just being out in nature beings a sense of relaxation and peace you can't get anywhere else. Plus, the views, just all the amazing views and secrets you can come upon. When the weather is not as pleasant or it is winter (so quite a few months here), I am usually found being a homebody. Probably no surprise, but gaming is a major filler of my time when I have nothing else to do. My main game right now is FFXIV, realized today that I have been playing it for over half a decade at this point, how time flies. I do enjoy the Paradox Interactive games as well, especially with all the amazing mods some of them have. Like music, I could spend hours talking about some of my favourite games. Would also love more people to play with, generally not picky about what, as long as you don't mind me potentially sucking. Gaming with people is always such a joy and fun time. I can be quite the reader if a particular book or series catches my attention. Once burned through a trilogy in a week since it captivated me so much. One of the dangers I found with me reading is I'll always go for one more chapter, then suddenly it is 3 am. Don't really have any specific genres in particular, though I am quite the sucker for some good worldbuilding.
I could probably keep rambling about myself, but why take away all the fun? As said before, I am looking for someone to see what kind of connection we can build. Location wise, for something more than friendship, you would likely have to be in Canada or have plans to move here. My team works in a first in first out workflow doing the oldest work first. One of my teammates seems to cherry pick work by looking to see if there are notes on another system to indicate the issues are easy before assigning them to herself. Since the work doesn't cycle in by date order its easy for the management to overlook this however as a team member who seems to get all the crap issues its easy to see the pattern.
So this week I started putting notes in the other system to make them look easy and since that's what lazy member looks for she took a huge amount of work for herself. Then I went into the other system and wiped out my notes like they were never there.
Que the whining about how difficult her week is. She can't give anything back because the sharepoint stamps the date/time/id of person who modified an issue so everyone would know what's going on. And she can't complain about the disappearing notes since there's no way to prove they were ever there and you aren't suppose to be looking at them before assigning your work.
Being so extremely petty I'll not touch any of the notes for the next few weeks and once she goes back to her old habit I'll just do it again.

I’ve decided to see if there are any audiobooks that could help me scratch that. “Oh tell me it’s OK” itch. Problem is I don’t even know where to start or what to look for because I’m guessing most audiobooks are going to be like American genre and not use the “atomic it’s OK” buzzwords I know. I have already tried some Google searches, but but due to some auto correct issues,( which I am sure are being fully displayed here) there have been no good returns for me and no one in my circle of friends, know enough about it this genre to really help me and make recommendations.

• Hello! Newbie modder here. First time trying to mod a switch (V1). 64 Gb SD CARD
• I followed NeedlsMods tutorial. Heckate+Atmosphere+Homebrew

1. Problem N1. From what he said its recommended for the SD CARD to be FAT32. Problem is from what i read on the internet, its kind of hard to have 64 GB as FAT32 (the limit beeing 32GB) however you can get around that with some 3rd party software. Tryed a couple of them, takes forever to format,and at the end it fails and bricks my SD card,so i have to reset it completly.
2. Problem N2. Needls is saying that in order to not get banned you have to do a Sysmmc and emmummc. So basically you have to split into 2 partitions.I went ahead and tryed this one with a exFAT SD CARD. When i try to do that, it works,however i only get acces to 32 GB (the partition turning into FAT32) out of 64 GB (when i plug it in my computer) wich means that i dont have any free space for games.
3. Regarding trying to not get banned. I saw that you put a emmummc txt file that blocks acces to nintendo servers. You put the file into hosts. Is this a good way to avoid getting a ban? what s your favorite succesfull method?

Yesterday night I was having a breakdown… your family usually automatically loves you. But to find someone outside of your family who genuinely loves you and enjoys every second with you, when you are the first thing they think of when they wake up and last thing they think of when they go to sleep… is so rare. Someone who looks at you a way no one else does, that even after the pass away, others tell you exactly that. “You have no idea how crazy about you he was. How he looked at you”. And suddenly… I’m not important anymore. No one wants to spend time with me like he did. No one looks at me and think “I missed her so much, she didn’t answer my call and I was worried about her”. No one answers my phone and says “hey baby! What is my baby doing?” When I cry, no one comes rushing to hug me kissing my forehead saying “don’t cry, I don’t wanna see you cry. I’ll get you anything you want. Just don’t cry”. 😔
One time when my husband was here, I got into fight with my brother over phone. He did something stupid and since we live far away, I couldn’t come in person and deal with that issue. We yelled at each other and I was so frustrated, he hung up and I started crying out of frustration. My husband hugged me tight and said “don’t cry, I’ll get you that potato holder for your books. Intro

It's been more than 10 years since the first Hunger Games movie. I can't say that the franchise has stayed on my mind too much, after the oversaturation of the genre and the way it ended.
Maybe it's the prequel coming out, but that one scene popped into my mind and stayed there.

The Scene

I'm talking about the scene where everyone trains for the hunger games, and the elites are watching them from a high window.
Katniss, during her showcase, shoots an arrow right through the high window, hitting an apple right next to the rich people.
We don't see the immediate aftermath, and it's never really mentioned again - Katniss isn't banned from the games, isn't punished, the movie just moves on.

The Reaction

I very vividly remember the reaction for the scene, at least my side of the internet - smugness.
At that point in time, it was all about being better than the “normal” people - hating Twilight without reading it, being a smug atheist, etc
So the Cinema Sins Dingers and YMSes of the world had a field day over this movie.
And sure, the movie was flawed, and nobody can say that the rock makeup scene wasn't silly as fuck, but I think the movie didn't deserve all of that.
That scene in particular got dinged to all hells - why didn't they have a glass, why were they even in the same room as the teens, why wasn’t Katniss punished?
They just want to show how of a badass female katniss is they don't care about precious logic.
I remember that I myself mentioned this scene when talking about the movie with my friends.
And just the other day, I thought about this scene again and it became obvious.

What I think now

I think it's a pretty good scene.
Hunger Games is very much about class division, it isn't subtle.
The games themselves are supposed to be sickengly normal - we're at the 74th iteration, and everyone just accepts it as part of life. Just one of those things you have to do once a year.
For the colonies(?) it's also their only chance for class mobility, people see it as a gift rather than a burden.
It's about rich people tricking the poor into fighting each other rather than them, getting scraps while the rich live frivolously.
There are regions who specifically train people for the games, other see it as a contribution, but even those who hate it treat it as something that just exists, rather than perpetrated, something that the elites chose to do and maintain.
So far, I haven't said anything groundbreaking, it's only subtext in the strictest sense of the word, I'm sure everyone at the time got most of it even if not in these exact terms.
So back to the scene. Katniss shoots at them and there is no glass.
The whole point is that there is no glass. They don't need it.
The whole point is that they can sit in front of people they condemned to die, without any protection, give them weapons, and they aren't afraid, they don't even think of the possibility of damage.
It's the implicit rules, people are seeing them as judges, the rivals are the other kids.
The only thing that separates them is not something physical - it's an idea.
I remember people saying that the scene was dumb, since "they're probably gonna die anyway so they might as well do it", but the answer is the opposite - their only chance to live is to play by the rules (not to mention collective punishment for their people).
So why did Katniss do it? because that's kind of her thing. not being fearless or badass or to borrow a "girlboss", but to show her strategy - not to play by the rules.
The whole point of her character is to show the flimsiness of the games, and by extension, the system.
By hiding instead of fighting, by being compassionate, and at the end literally cheating and talking directly to the game runners, she constantly challenges them and forces them to bend the rules. Change the immutable hunger games.
And that starts with noticing that the glass isn't really there, and shooting though it.
Why wasn't she punished? maybe she was, we don't really know. but they can't kill her, because they also have to pretend that there are rules. Not having her in the games after being announced is a no no.

Am i just stupid?

Now despite all of the discussion, I've never seen anyone give this interpretation before. Probably again, it was my circle and the fact I was much younger.
But this isn't some hot take, it's just taking the message of the movie and applying it to that one scene.
Maybe it was the "logic rules" idea of the time. I mean we got the whole Titanic door debate back then. Though that's kind of the opposite when you think about it - in Titanic everyone got the point of the scene - the idea that one of them must make a sacrifice, but the debate was more about the prop or the positioning of the characters.
Here it feels that the logistics of the scene are possible, but nobody gets why it's there.
Or maybe, just maybe, they all did. There is always this thought that I'm just an idiot.
That all along everyone got the scene, in all of the levels I do now and maybe even deeper, and they were always just discussing it at higher level I never got. Maybe. But I feel like my perspective is more nuanced than it was 10 years ago, and that's a positive for me.

Just had the rear shocks replaced $500+tax for labour.
They indicated that they would have a problem with the bolts at the bottom of the shock and that they would probably need to heat and/or cut them off. I approved the work with the understanding that they would be fair and honest.
in the end I was billed a Total, $500+ tax for Labour+torch (as billed @$250/side) To have the old shocks cut off and replaced. Felt very steep and mentioned that at the time. They indicated that the bolts were seized in the sleeves of the shocks and needed the shocks to be cut off the bolt.
Ended up taking back the old shocks to find only one had to be cut out. The other had come out with heat.
Feels like being told work is needed, being told the work was done, being billed for the work, and then finding out the work was not needed or done.
When I tried talking to them they tried to claim I wanted work for free. No.
Not a good experience and can not recommend them and I was unable to trust what they say…

I know I have done the most disrespectful thing to my husband already but it's like I'm disrespecting him more every day that I don't tell him. I don't want to continue making a fool out of him, and I don't want to continue a relationship with secrets and lies, not anymore.

Hello! Been looking into WGU for a couple months after originally hearing about it on TikTok. I'm thinking of taking the plunge some time at the beginning of next year and want to get things ready until then. One of the parts I need some help with is deciding what to get my degree in. I've considered some of the popular ones like Computer Engineering but if you guys have experience in other ones, I'd love to hear how your careers have been unfolding for you.
Some context with my situation, I already have an associates from a local community College that I'm hoping to transfer some credits from and will be going for a bachelor's. I'm currently looking into an IT help desk position for some experience and it looks like i have a decently solid chance at getting it with the help of a friend on the inside. I love computers and any time I think of careers, it's all that comes to mind and something I think i can really build off of.

I don't know if anyone else in recovery has experienced this, but I struggle with anorexia, and am weight restored, but suffered from bradycardia when I was underweight which didn't fully resolve until recently. But now that I'm restricting again (and haven't lost significant weight yet) I'm having a resurgence of this symptom. Has anyone else experienced this // am I probably wrong for thinking it has to do with my ED? I've gotten so many tests done on my heart and until it was <45-50 mid-day on EKGs doctors didn't really seem concerned. Even then my regual doctors said my heart function looked good and normal and that my resting heart rate was good because I'm young and "healthy". Currently my resting is now 58 bpm, but frequently is much lower when I'm asleep, when my normal range according to fitbit is 60-64 ish. It hasn't been this low in a hot minute (October of last year). I haven't even really lost any weight, so I'm like, "??? body, chill." My doctors always write me off because I'm "young" and definitely do have some health anxiety. But my doctors also kinda failed to treat my eating disorder symptoms or provide adequate explanation of what was happening to me. The only time someone was concerned about my heart was when I saw a cardiologist in Stanford in the eating disorder unit and they basically told me that I had to go to the ER if my hr dropped below 50. They discharged me and I followed up with my pcp who just referred me to a cardiologist and basically told me to knock it off with the restricting (fair, what else was she gonna say?) Now, my current cardiologist couldn't care less about my bradycardia, but since it improved with weight restoration and ceasing restriction, that does seem like signs point to ED. So I'm turning to this community for hopefully some advice/words of wisdom.

18 M and about 5’8”, 146 pounds, and no medications or smoking etc. In the last week or so, l've been having random stomach pain right in my upper abdomen areas that sometimes relieve itself through flatulence or defecation. I can’t really tell but I think the stomach pain is tied to that once the stomach processes whatever it is and lets out some flatulence I notice the pain subsides a little.
Around that same time a week ago or a bit before that, I started cutting and so was eating a bit under my maintenance calories so I thought it might have something to do with hunger. But even after eating the pain persists for a while. It happens at random, usually once or twice a day and lasts about 30 minutes. I thought maybe certain foods might trigger it but I can't see a pattern nor did I introduce any new foods in my diet in the last week. Should I see a doctor about this, and what likely can this be? It's a great inconvenience when it does happen due to the pain.
