2023.03.20 22:26 WhitePinoy (25M) Why do I have so many medical conditions?

25M, 5'-8", 210 lb. Asian. Moderate lifestyle. 90 minute commute to and back from work, 3 hours total.
Last year I was diagnosed with a multiple medical conditions, and just this year I have been diagnosed with even more.
I have thyroid cancer (which has since been resolved), hypertension that's been improving, fatty liver disease, mild Sjorgen's syndrome with secondary raynaud's phenomenon, epidural lipomatosis, spondylosis, bulging discs, myalgia, kidney stones, overactive bladder, etc.
Physically outside I look like a typically healthy person, but medical results say otherwise. I am living a much more active lifestyle with a strict diet after my cancer diagnosis from last year.
I started believing that my slew of diseases is a result of genetics, possibly an autoimmune disease? I think I inherited from my mother who has psoriasis, which manifested in me as sjorgen's.

2023.03.20 22:24 CampHBDirector Fickle as the Weather

On February 2nd, Punxsutawney Phil emerged from his burrow in Pennsylvania and saw his shadow. Six more weeks of winter, that was the prediction.
It was kind of right. There would be six more weeks, yes… Six, and then some.

The Big House. Monday, March 20th, 2023: the Vernal Equinox. 5:24pm.
And now, weather every twelve minutes! Here’s your forecaster for Olympian Weather – the OW! Channel – Aeolus!
“Hurry, Chiron, help me out here.” Leaning back on the sofa in the Big House living room, one foot over the other leg, Mr D pointed at Chiron with a can of Diet Coke. “Should I call in for some rain to make the demigods miserable?”
Music played from the television as Chiron wheeled in, and tossed a Snausage to Seymour. The leopard eagerly snapped it out of the air, hardly even allowing himself a moment to savour the flavour before he gulped it down and stared down at the centaur, hungry for more.
“It’s going to be time for dinner soon, so I’d really rather you didn’t.”
“Bah.”
Dionysus rolled his eyes, his attention turning to the TV. On the screen, Aeolus smiled out with too-wide smile with too-bright teeth. The clouds on his suit, tinted orange, drifted in tandem with the formations on the map behind him.
Hello, Olympus!” he enthused. “Aeolus, master of the winds here, with weather every twelve! We’ve got some rain showers continuing over in the northwest, and- oh, or not, since Thalia wants to give them a break. Down in Texas you can expect to see more clouds moving in, and…
On and on it went - “Oh, thank Apollo,” Chiron said at one point, when it was reported that the sun god had requested continued clear skies for Long Island, only for Dionysus to bark out a harsh laugh moments later when Aphrodite called in for snow.
Just when it seemed things were winding down, Aeolus tapped his earpiece one more time. “Ah, hold on- Okay! Yep, I hear you- I got you- Alright, folks, Demeter is calling for the northern hemisphere to get an extended winter this year and we’re starting with some sleet over on the west coast, courtesy of Boreas himself. Oh, I doubt they’re ready for that!
He waited a few more moments, before capping it off: “And that’s the weather. See you in twelve minutes, because I’m sure it’ll change!
The music - too calm and cheery in the background, in contrast to Aeolus’ demeanour while handling all those requests - swelled to a crescendo, the Weather Every 12 logo panned over the screen, and the programme ended.
“Oh, the heating bill is going to be awful,” Dionysus muttered, and began flicking through channels from something about a missing person report to an episode of So You Think You Can Weave Better Than a Goddess?

Outside, even just as Chiron wheeled out to the porch, the sky was rapidly becoming obscured by clouds, and large, soft snowflakes began to fall.

OOC: And we’re kicking off the subreddit’s 9th plot! There isn’t much major stuff going on yet, but feel free to enjoy the weather (or hate it, who knows) or talk to Chiron, or whatever you’d like to do on this nice snowy day. The weather report was mainly to set things up OOC, no campers would have in the room while they watched.

2023.03.20 22:22 thrwaway1622 Early in recovery, how did you deal with the PA’s emotional fluctuation?

I want to preface by kindly asking that anyone who replies refrains from “just leave” and “it’ll never get better” kind of comments. I understand if you feel that’s true and are trying to look out for others by saying so, but I’m not ready to leave my partner and these kinds of comments have caused me to go down really hopeless, dark rabbit holes in recent weeks. I’m working with my own betrayal trauma therapist so I have support that is very aware of the realities of this addiction. Thank you.
This turned into a semi vent, but I’m looking for support and advice from those who can relate. My partner has one month sober in SAA this Thursday. He’s been going to 1-2 meetings daily. This coming after 6 months of unsuccessfully white knuckling it, and about 2 years since initially disclosing his addiction to me. We were engaged the year prior and have been together 8 years total. I believe he has been sober this time; he no longer uses a smartphone, he has no access to any device that can get online without me unlocking it, we still have tracking apps, he isn’t home alone, doesn’t close the bathroom door, etc. These are things we mutually agreed on. He’s spent a lot of time at home journaling and reading books related to trauma recovery, sex and porn addiction, and other self help topics. He’s been working through the Help Her Heal workbook. He’s been working on his first step and 3 circles (I feel like these should both be done already). He got a sponsor. He’s scheduled to start working with a specialized therapist who also does EMDR next week. That I’m really hopeful about.
The thing I’m immensely struggling with though is his emotional fluctuation and inconsistency. I almost feel like I’m dealing with someone with split personalities. There’s a side of my partner who is wholly on board with recovery. He’s aware of the damage he’s caused and how his addiction and hiding it has impacted me. He feels genuine remorse. He’s kind, respectful and helpful. He’s committed and doing his best to wade through the discomfort of learning to be vulnerable and honest. He’s trying to be present with my emotions. But then there’s a side of him that is essentially the polar opposite. He’s still slipping into denial about the reality of his addiction. Still seeking external validation from me that everything’s fine when it isn’t. Still picking out anything about day to day life that looks “normal” and justifying to himself that the presence of it means there’s no problem anymore. He feels entitled to unconditional support and sees my emotions as taking away space for his. He’s flippant, self deprecating and detached. I feel like this side falls into objectification of women easily, whether that’s through porn or using me for emotional support.
When he’s been in a grounded headspace we’ve talked about this thoroughly and he calls this his addict brain. He says it feels like his angry inner child comes out, and that child feels entitled to anything that will make him feel better and resents anything and anyone that threatens that or meets him with anything other than unconditional positive regard. He was first exposed to porn at 8 years old, when his parents were divorcing and made no effort to explain anything that was going on to the kids. I understand the trauma, the misplaced anger and feelings of not receiving the care he needed. I experienced childhood emotional neglect too, so I empathize to a point…but I’ve grown to fucking hate his inner child. I can tell which headspace he’s in because his voice, facial expression, posture, everything is different between the two. I absolutely hate the way his shoulders slink down like an angsty teen and his eyebrows raise like he’s pouting. I hate the way his pitch goes up and he gets quieter, sometimes bordering on baby talk. This side of him is a professional pity party planner. It is so so unattractive to me. The self deprecation . The “I’m just a piece of shit”. I don’t care. I’m tired of hearing it. It feels like manipulation, and I call him on that. Like he’s trying to pull on my heartstrings to feel bad for him and cut him some slack. Sometimes he looks at me with total disdain when I tell him I’m not engaging with his victim mentality. I feel like he’s looking at me and seeing his Mom, projecting the shitty parent she was onto me because in that moment I’m not cleaning up the mess she made.
He’s been good about telling me about his meetings, sharing his reflections and what he’s learning. He hasn’t been as good about expressing active empathy and engaging with my experience, because I feel like that massively triggers the addict brain and he hasn’t found successful ways of regulating when he feels triggered.
I have it in me to support him through recovery, to do the hard work of rebuilding trust in our relationship. I want to save our relationship. But none of that is possible when he’s in the triggered headspace. When he’s grounded he sees me as his teammate, but addict brain sees me as his enemy. Every time the triggered mindset comes out I feel myself getting angrier and angrier. Being treated like the enemy feels like the most intense form of invalidation possible. Then we just circle the drain.
For the last month we’ve had 4-5 day stretches of him staying 90% in the grounded headspace. We’ve had fumbles and defensiveness that we’ve been able to work through without it escalating. But we haven’t been able to make it longer than 5 days without something happening that triggers the addict brain and he’s unable to regulate for at least 24 hours. Sometimes what triggers it will seem so minuscule to me that I don’t even catch it. In that instance what frequently happens is we’ll be having a conversation and then he starts saying things that are totally contradictory to things he said just a minute ago. I get confused and ask for clarity, and he either continues to contradict, gets defensive or starts trying to justify. Then I see that he’s no longer communicating from a grounded place. I do my best to disengage as soon as I catch it. Twice he’s caught it and gone into another room to try to regulate, which is progress, but I still feel like the frequency of him being unable to do that is unreasonable and not creating a safe environment for me.
This vacillation is making me feel like it’s impossible for me to support him in his recovery, because I feel like the lack of consistency triggers my feeling of being deceived. I grew up in a home where I had to walk on eggshells around an emotionally unstable parent, and I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t triggering in that regard too.
I’m just curious to know if anyone who experienced something like this felt like it got better as your partner progressed in therapy and/or active recovery? Did anything specific help? Is disengaging the best way for me to handle this in terms of protecting myself? What else did you do to support yourself?

2023.03.20 22:22 ThrowRA11771 Is emotional abuse mutual?

I'm pretty sure my BF is abusive. Anyone I've told about how he treats me, even mutual friends who are close to him, say he's bad for me etc. He says I'm most of the reasons the relationship is failing. I noticed him getting colder and less interested about a month or 2 into dating and I didn't take it well. We share a house with mutual friends (it's how we met) and he would do stuff like go straight to bed when he got home from work at 10pm, having not seen me all day. Why not pop in for a hug or kiss and a 5 minute catchup of our day before bed? He stopped making plans and I started getting upset when I asked to cuddle or chat and he said no. I didn't mean to sulk, but I guess I did and he'd give in. He said this made him feel trapped. As things got worse, I started to cry when he said no. I just wanted love. I didn't feel loved. He said i was manipulative and controlling.
I can't hide my hurt. I try because it makes him angry. He resents me for wanting closeness. He called me weird for wanting to see how he was the night he came back from visiting his parents for 2 days. He has a temper and has been outright verbally abusive on 2 occasions. Called me AH, p word, c word, the most selfish person he'd ever met, why couldn't I be like his ex, he missed her. He has said he never gets his way etc many times when frankly, i dont get mine either. Is it possible for both partners to be abusive?

2023.03.20 22:20 TheWritingProf How much work is it reasonable to expect from a freelancer in a month at various levels of hours?

Greetings and salutations, everyone!
I'll keep this as brief as possible, which is probably going to turn into an ironic statement. In summary, a friend and I are looking to get into the Social Media Management/Arbitration business. You know, the people that convince small businesses that they would be better off hiring a professional and then take those job offers to professionals we already know and see if they're interested. Hopefully a win-win all around. However, we are working on what estimates and packages to give our clients, and we have run into a number of conflicting data points.
By our estimate, the average social media manager who is established enough to have at least a small profile is looking to make about 60000 yearly at 40 hours/week. This leaves us with an hourly rate of ~30. A little more, a little less on some months.
The platforms we are looking at are primarily Facebook and Instagram, with the possibility of Twitter or even Tik Tok if those platforms seem like a better fit. For our target client, though, Facebook and Instagram are where they would find most of their target audience. Thus, according to our numbers, if we want to contract a social media manager for them, then 10 hrs a week runs at 1200, 5 at 600, etc. Now, these contracts are designed to run over multiple months with the shortest period of time being 3 and the longest being 36, so there is hopefully the draw of guaranteed income. All work is to be submitted and scheduled one month in advance of posting, and the clients are responsible for any community engagement. The main services we are focused on are planning, content creation, and month to month analysis of performance with adjustments made to the next month's plan based on that. That being said, we also want to make sure we are compensating people fairly for their work and expertise.
So, my question is this: how much content and what other services is it reasonable to expect from a freelance manager working with Facebook and Instagram at, say, 5, 10, or even 20 hours a week?

I sit in almost every single shower I take. I'm on my feet all day the last thing I wanna do is stand more when I'm trying to relax.
I'll get in, bathe, wash my hair, brush my teeth all within like 5 minutes then I'll just sit for 10 to 15 minutes and zone out and get some thinking done.

2023.03.20 22:18 Ok-Artichoke7714 AITA for being upset while volunteering leading to me leaving the place without telling anyone?

To preface this I am Canadian, so the way the school system works where I live is you need a minimum of 40 hours of volunteer community service hours to graduate. Another thing me being Canadian matters for is I was volunteering at a sugar shack, which I'm not sure if countries other than Canada have. A sugar shack is a place in a forest where people tap the trees for sap, which we turn into maple syrup. Commonly these places serve pancakes/sausages etc. and serve it with syrup. Sap season also starts in Spring, and ends in Autumn. (I think this is all the back ground information needed)
I (14F) volunteered at a sugar shack for 16 hours the other weekend, 8 hours a day with a 30 minute break. I was what the boss called "The star volunteer" as the actual shifts were 4 hours but I stayed all eight and did any and every job they needed no questions asked, and to the best of my ability. For a lot of my time I was on the grill cooking sausages outside, which was my favourite as it was the easiest. Something I forgot to mention was it was around -3 to -5 degrees Celsius. I am also on multiple medications, so I tend to get cold extremely easily. On the sausages with the rest of my body freezing there was smoke in my eyes while I was on the grill. I did that both Saturday and Sunday.
It was spring break that week so I was able to sleep that off for the next week which I really needed to do afterwards, and as well in that week every plan I made ended up being cancelled so I mainly spent time in my bed with multiple blankets for the frost bite I had gotten.
Like I said earlier I was considered a very helpful volunteer so the Lady who ran it had called my Mom to ask if I could come back, my Mom asked me and I specifically said I would work four hours only, no more, as I only needed four more hours and I really didn't want to go. My Mother ended up getting me in for the full day that Saturday which I found out that Friday.
I was upset when I found out but I thought it would be fine, I could just do sausages again or serve them, something like that.
Come Saturday, this is when the problems started, my Mom had a work call until the end of the day came around at the sugar shack, 7 hour call. The boss ended up picking me up and driving me there where she told me she wouldn't be staying at the shack because she was sick, I probably wouldn't have went at all if I knew this because most of the people going to be there are anywhere from ages 50-70 so I had nobody to talk to but that lady was the one who treated me well, so I knew this was going to be a long day.
When I got there I was very much undermined by anyone who hadn't been there the previous weekend by them feeling as if I wouldn't be any help, and more or less ignoring me because of my age. I would like to mention this day I was on dishes, and the pipes were frozen, so the only water we had was freezing cold, and while I was doing these dishes a mini blizzard showed up where we were (there was an open wall for serving at the building) so my hands were blue and tray after tray for me to clean off was coming in, with people barely acknowledging that I was there, and I could be in a coat as the water was in a bucket and I had paper towels so I had to have rolled up sleeves. One lady offered me pancakes and it was around 11 and I hadn't eaten breakfast so I ate them anyways, which made my stomach extremely upset.
After four hours of freezing, being ignored, and now feeling sick, seeing as I had now finished all the hours I needed I just left, I started walking home, when my Mom realized how serious I was about leaving she picked me up half way and drove me home.
My Mom posted a picture of me at the shack on her Facebook that night to which someone mentioned they'd seen me and I didn't seem happy so my Mom said I shouldn't have led on I was upset, I've been thinking about that and I'm not sure if I was in the wrong.
So AITA for being upset, and then leaving without telling everyone?

Hi everyone! My name's Noah, I'm a Masters Games Design student currently writing a report about collecting in video games, specifically linking this to Destiny 2! The premise behind this report is how collecting in video games can be motivated, and how collecting rewards players.
I'd love to get some help with this small questionnaire that won't take longer than 10 minutes (Most likely around 5-7 minutes I'd say~).
If possible, I'd love if this could also be shared around the community so I can get the best sample size possible! Thanks so much to anyone who does that, and to anyone who completes it!
(Sorry mods if this isn't allowed 😅)

2023.03.20 22:18 Loate Book One of Cat Squad Six complete, some stats

Started posting my first work on Royal Road a little under three months ago (it's a satire on various isekai/anime/LitRPG tropes called Cat Squad Six), and with the completion of the first arc I figured I'd share some numbers. For context, I did no advertising, did not do an initial chapter dump to try and hit Rising Stars (I post regularly on Tuesday and Saturday, rise up turtle post gang!), came up with a janky msPaint cover page about halfway through the book (I'm planning on getting a real one... eventually), and basically did everything you're not supposed to do - except for backlog. I have a ton of backlog so that way I don't have to stress about meeting posting deadline.
Total Views: 2233
Average Views: 86
Pages: 172 (tried to average around 2k words a chapter, but that was just a guideline, not a strict necessity)
Comments: 2 (both by the same person, I'm not counting my own responses)
Followers: 3
Ratings: 2 (a 5 star and a 4.5 star for a 4.75 star rating, obviously subject to drastic change if and when more ratings come in)
Reviews: 0 (sad trombone)
So what's my takeaway?
If you want to monetize your work on RR quickly, you should probably follow the suggestions of the people who've successfully done so, which means doing the initial starting chapter dump, having a spiffy cover, getting your review swaps with other authors, having your patreon ready to go with advance chapters, etc. The people giving that advice are giving it for a reason, and it's because it's going to give you a better chance to get noticed. Now, the quality of the work will still ultimately determine your fate, but getting eyes early definitely seems important if you're looking for rapid growth.
That being said, I'm fortunately in a position where I can write for fun and don't need to worry about the monetization aspects, so I can share my story at the pace I choose, and if people enjoy the ride, hooray! If not, that's fine too - I've been traditionally published twice (one a collection of short stories and essays for Little, Brown, the other a sci-fi novel for Tor) so I'm confident that the quality of this work (so far, and hopefully moving forward) holds up to my own high standards, and is fun for me to read. I'm looking at this as a long term project, albeit one with constant, predictable updates, and it will reach the finish line (which I've already plotted out). Now it's just a matter of plugging away until I get there.
Best of luck to all the other authors out there!
Post script - here's a brief overview of some of the RR stories I've been enjoying over the past few months that are worth checking out (my standards are fairly high when it comes to writing/grammatrope abuse)
Industrial Strength Magic - fun superhero/progression piece, with a solid emphasis on worldbuilding, character development/relationships, and a light touch with 'numbers go up' which I appreciate
Edge Cases - has the outward appearance of a LitRPG, but is actually a very kind-hearted found family story with a heavy emphasis on character building. Tends to meander at times but is still quite good
Godclads - in the grim cyberpunk darkness of the not-quite far future, there is only... people harvesting shards of gods for power? This one has by far some of the most interesting worldbuilding I've seen on RR (reminds me of a mix between Max Gladstone's Craft Sequence and Tamsyn Muir's Gideon the Ninth), but the author occasionally gets lost in their own verbosity
That One Isekai: My Only Cheat Skill Is All Of Them - this one is similar to what I'm going for in terms of spoofing the genre, but it's much more slapstick/farcical as opposed to the slightly more "realistic" tone I'm going for. Author definitely knows how to nail the tropes, though
Dungeon Tour Guide - A more traditional LitRPG with a heavier focus on 'numbers go up,' but has a nice emphasis on character growth and development, as well as some fun not-quite-rulebreaking shenanigans from the main character
Tales From The Terran Republic - not at all an isekai, LitRPG, or anime, but an extremely amusing, sardonic, and equal parts hopeful and depressing sci-fi romp featuring a galaxy's worth of characters. I actually went and found the reddit hub for the rest of the chapters once I got through what was on RR because it had me that entertained

2023.03.20 22:17 Due-Pick8392 Academia.edu has adult contents

Hello,
I signed up for this page during my bachelor and wanted to download papers.
I never gave much attention to the account. Fast forward to today, I am now a PhD and starting to care about whether my paper gets cited.
I received an email saying someone cited me from academia.edu. It turned out to be a fake account with adult contents. And the name of the profile means “sexy girls photos” in my native language. Quick search using those keywords, I got 8 pages of results full of adult contents.
How is this even possible? They charged people money for premium account and did nothing to moderate what is shown on their website. And real researchers get mentioned.
Has anyone experienced the same thing? Are they known to be trashy or something?
After 15 minutes of searching, I still couldn’t find an email for customer service. As far as I know, not many in my circle really use this site. For context, I’m currently in Europe.

2023.03.20 22:16 NotQuiteGoodEnougher LPT - Need to hit that elusive SUB? Tax season is a 'perfect' opportunity

If you owe taxes, you can meet your SUB quickly and easily (maybe...depending on amount owed) by going directly to the IRS website and finding the lowest cost provider to process your tax payments owed.
https://www.irs.gov/payments/pay-your-taxes-by-debit-or-credit-card
Current 'fee' rates are about 1.85% per transaction, which quite honestly is much lower than that creepy gas station or restaurant that added a 3% 'convenience fee' for using your card.
You can charge as much as you expect to owe, then enter the amount on your 1040 as taxes paid on line 26 "Estimated Taxes Paid".
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE THAN PAYING WHEN FILING IF YOU'RE USING A CC. Currently TurboTax for example will charge you 2.49% at checkout if you want to pay your taxes with a CC.
This really isn't a debate about the financial responsibility of paying taxes with a CC. I paid mine, hit my sub with one transaction and already paid the card off. 5 minutes of work, got my SUB and the card goes in a file for the next year. If you don't need to hit a SUB and can pay out of your checking account...it's always free.
Your mileage may vary. You can split your payments as well, the transaction fee is flat, so the amount paid is the same if you do 1 or 3 payments. I hit 2 subs. 'The joys of contract work'. lol

That’s a good question. I think I make my choices and actions based on a combination of factors. Some of them are internal, such as my goals, preferences, emotions, beliefs and values. 2023.03.20 22:15 UncleGurm Test drove a Sebo today...

Some of you may know I've been doing a ton of research on vacuums to combat my allergies (DUST, OMG) and deal with the cat hair (2 full grown ragdolls with undercoats) on 90% hardwood (one room of carpet, two area rugs) and it's really come down to this:
- One decent stick vac per floor for daily pickups (currently have a Dyson v8, shopping for a second stick)
- One Sebo K3/E3 or Miele C3 for the weekly clean.
There are two vacuum stores within 20 minutes of here. Both carry Sebo and Miele, but one of them is the local "Miele Showroom" and the other is an old guy who LOVES SEBO. So I figured I'd hit both and get both sides of the story.
So I dropped into the Sebo showroom. First thing to note is the prices - $1100 for the E3, no exceptions no discounts. $900 for a K3. Ok, fair enough. First up was the E3.
Immediate impression - build. It's pretty light. Very maneuverable. The airbelt really sticks out. The tools are good, but not ultra premium.
Second impression - it's QUIET. Like, SO quiet. With the ET-1 turned off it's quieter than most air purifiers or dishwashers. The ET-1 of course is loud, but not glaringly so. It's about as loud as your average power head.
Third impression - the suction on the lowest setting exceeds that of a Dyson on high. I mean, duh. But it's one thing to know that intellectually and another to see it actually happen. On high it's... hard to quantify with just my hand as a measuring device, but didn't impress me overly. Like the differential between low and high was not amazing.
Fourth impression - attachments. The included parquet head is pretty lackluster - I'm sure it does the job but my cats' hair will just build up and turn into a white snowplow. So right away we'd need the premium parquet tool ($55 extra). Also would want the handheld pet tool, which is $65 plus a $15 adapter thing (or get the "pet kit" with some extra stuff for $115). And the flat upholstery tool for vacuuming mattresses. And the upgraded dusting brush. And a couple other things (reaching up high for dusting, etc.) So I'd be into this for a couple hundred bucks in accessories, maybe closer to $300. HOWEVER, the ET-1 is the standout here. It's just insanely good, hands down the best I've seen.
Fifth impression - service and warranty. The unit comes - from this dealer - with a 5 year service plan, and of course the 7/10 year warranty. Honestly that's pretty good - a free tune-up every year for 5 years and an in-home warranty? That's nice. Don't know if every dealer does that but it's super good.
Sixth impression - filtration. The salesman didn't seem to know the difference between HEPA and "Hospital Grade", but I'm an allergy nerd so I'm not surprised. That said, the filter bag is IMPRESSIVE and probably comes close to meeting HEPA standards. The small particle count on the PerformanceReviews video was concerning, but was 95+% lower than the surrounding air so it's not a big complaint.
Seventh impression - fit and finish. I wasn't prepared for how WELL BUILT these are. And how SMOOTH they are.
Then I test-drove a K3. Most of the impressions are the same. The hose has been updated - although it still doesn't taper, it does have the same controls as the E3 now. The cord rewind is still pull-to-retract, and the attachments are still weird. That said, it's nice. The onboard filter wasn't HEPA but they had the HEPA service kit there. I'd love to see particle counts for this unit. It's actually about the same weight, in spite of being smaller. The offset hose is a little weird. All in all not a bad unit. The airbelt cover is ... odd. Looks and feels like foam but is fabric.
Verdict: I want to test-drive a Miele. I did NOT walk out with either Sebo, although I did walk out insanely impressed with the ET-1. I'll be posting my Miele impressions tomorrow. But the total-cost-to-purchase on an E3 with the attachments I need would be like $1350-$1400 plus tax. Stay tuned.

2023.03.20 22:14 blu3ness Segfault when running on MacOS when refreshing static textures

Hey guys,
I'm running into a weird rendering some static texture - re-updating it with a new texture, and swapping it as the user interacts with the program.
It works fine on Windows but on Mac I frequently get a segfault - it seems to originate in some dearpygui and Apple's metal API.
The logic of what i'm doing is roughly - Detect user action - Remove existing image series - Remove existing texture - Add new texture - Add new image series
For some reason this works some of the time but does not work in other times.
My question is - it seems like i'm not using static texture correctly - or misunderstood its use case - can anyone share if you got similar experiences?
Thanks!

2023.03.20 22:14 Nolifeking00 Suggest & Spin for March 26th, 2023: Jenglot

Suggest what you like with the existing rules of Movie Dicks.
Kevin Smith continues to be a hack and Yoga Hosers also continues to be the worst film I have ever seen, with a close second being No Reason. I have not forgotten about what smith did to He-man but him crying trying to get a second season of that crap amuses me so I will leave him alone for the time being. Jersey Girl may be worse but I have not seen it.
Window 10 also continues to suck. Konami is a shit company and have pissed in the faces of the fans too long. What Konami has done to Silent Hill and Castlevania series is criminal. J. J. Abrams this hack and his film company Bad Robot have done more damage to the human race then polio and covid combined. In another shit sandwich fucking Bad Robot is making a fucking Silent Hill "game". I will add more to enemies list as they appear.

Jenglot

Accepting suggestions through discord/reddit/Twitch Chat.

Youtube Oddities begins at 7:00 PM CDT and following that the Spinning starts in the PreRec Twitch Chat

Rules:

Don't use pastelink anymore for mulitple links.

If the movie is not on youtube or bitchute than you must provide 3 different links.

Reddit is blocking bitchute links so post them on pastefree or hiphu (they work for now)

If you use 3 different links please use pastefree or hiphu as reddit doesn't like multiple links in posts.

Try to keep the length of movie below 100 minutes as we it makes it hard to watch 3 movies per night.

The Movie or Documentary must be at least 5 years old.

If the movie has been shown before you can suggest it only once per year.
