2023.06.09 00:42 autahciscoguy r/UtahSkies will be going dark from June 12 - 14 to protest the announced API changes that have already killed the best Reddit app (Apollo)

Don't Let Reddit Kill 3rd Party Apps!
📷What's going on?
A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.
What's the plan?
On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.
What can you do?
  1. Complain. Message the mods of reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.
  2. Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join us at our sister sub at ModCoord - but please don't pester mods you don't know by simply spamming their modmail.
  3. Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
  4. Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible. This includes not harassing moderators of subreddits who have chosen not to take part: no one likes a missionary, a used-car salesman, or a flame warrior.

2023.06.09 00:42 JephJohns Free invites to test CRM for sending Bulk Email blast (100k a day, 10mil) a month

Hi All, I thought I would share with you something I've been working on over the course of the last 6-7 weekends. I wrote this using - Mongo Db, Next Js, Lambdas, Typescript, Recoil, React and Styled components. To give you a bit of background, I started dabbling in affiliate marketing the last few months and was driven by frustration with complex interfaces, missing features, and sky-high prices for marketing platforms with bulk email sends. (Salesforce - Only 5k a day ). The result I came up with was a custom-built CRM tool with advanced bulk email capabilities (175k emails in a single day), tailored to the practical and cost-effective needs of users.
Here are some key features:
Cost-Efficient: One of the key objectives is to provide a cost-effective solution without compromising on the quality of features or user experience. The goal is to offer more bang for your buck compared to other platforms.
Bulk Leads Import: This feature allows users to import tens of thousands of leads at once using a single .xls document. This is a massive time-saver and reduces manual data entry errors, allowing users to instantly populate their CRM with the necessary contact information.
Analytics and Reporting: The application provides comprehensive analytics on email campaigns. Users can review performance metrics like open rate, click-through rate, bounce rate, and more, giving them insights needed to refine their strategies and improve future campaign success.
Segmentation and Grouping: The application allows users to group leads into different segments. This can be based on various criteria, such as demographics, interaction history, or lead source. The ability to segment leads helps to run targeted email campaigns and increase their effectiveness.
Email Campaign Customization: Users can choose whether to personalize emails (for example, by including the recipient's name in the greeting) or send generic messages. This flexibility allows businesses to tailor their approach based on the type of campaign they're running and the specific audience segment they're targeting.
HTML Email Editor: Users can copy and paste HTML data into the built-in editor for email creation. This editor provides live editing capabilities, which means users can see how their email will look as they're building it. This feature is particularly helpful for those with HTML knowledge who want to design more intricate or branded emails.
Email Blasting with .xls Document: Besides the regular CRM functionality, the application allows users to run email campaigns directly from a .xls document without needing to save every email lead. This offers great flexibility for one-off campaigns or when sharing lead lists among different platforms.
If you're interested in giving it a whirl? Just drop me an email, and I'll send you an invitation. As part of this demo, you can send up to 100 emails. Attached are few screenshots.

2023.06.09 00:42 ThrowRa-inlove- i got outed and now everyone knows i’m in love with my best friend (22f, 25f)

i (22f) met ‘t’ (25f) when i started my job in late 2019, she was incredibly welcoming and we got on like a house on fire. she introduced me to her group and her boyfriend and the rest is history.
i knew i was in love with t when i realised lockdown meant that i wouldn’t get to see her everyday.
i never told her about my feelings bc i respect her and her relationship. her boyfriend is amazing and we also get along really well, i didn’t want to put a strain on any of the relationships (plus they got engaged a couple of months ago) so i kept it to myself until i got drunk one night and accidentally told my girl friends. i know that they didn’t tell anyone when i first told them bc nothing changed.
but fast forward to yesterday, i was chilling at home as i have time off work and my phone starts blowing up. texts from everyone asking if it was true and why i didn’t tell them i was gay, why would i try to ruin t’s relationship etc.
t’s wedding is in a few days.
i turned my phone off, i didn’t leave it on long enough to find out how everyone knew. i had a panic attack before packing a small bag and immediately booking a train ticket to go to my parents place before anyone showed up at my door.
i really don’t know what to do. i love my friends but one of them betrayed me. and i’m terrified of turning my phone back on bc i have no idea what i’m gonna find.
i feel so lost and hurt and i don’t know if i can ever face any of them again.
should i turn my phone on and face the repercussions? or do i just ghost everyone until after the wedding?

2023.06.09 00:42 AfraidOfTheSun Did I just get my first scam phone call?

I'm feeling slightly confused right now; I just accepted a normal looking order, then my phone immediately gets a call from an 888 #, I ignore it because I'm driving up to the place and then another call comes with caller ID saying DoorDash / Customer, something like that, so I answer and it's a recording saying "this might be recorded for training purposes", one of those things, then no one said anything. I just hung up and unassigned because I'm not in the mood tonight but the caller ID looked weird and I can't remember getting that recording at the beginning of a call before, am I crazy?

I feel sick. Omg what the fuck are they gonna think, I don't want them to think I waste their food or they I'm disgusting help I can't stop panicking now

2023.06.09 00:42 Gloryuntopetals How do i help my friend?

My (21f) friend (23m) has kinda shut down? Hes never been one to talk about feelings but hes had a rough time of it and im worried for him. Little context on him, my friend group kinda adopted him when he applied to our college, hes a few years older than us. Took him a bit to talk about it but he came late because he spent 5 years in the marines. He was a “combat engineer” is what he called it. He’s always been the quite type, the “i only talk when i have something to say” but over the months hes opened up more. Started playing warhammer with a few of our guy friends. he even started training a friend of ours in self defense (she doesn’t feel safe where she lives)
Then he was missing for a week, 2 weeks ago, never got a “goodbye” or a “hey im back” all we saw of him was him walking back to his room with a bag and a hanger bag (i think it was his uniform i saw the white hat in a bag on the outside. We have theories on where he went. Of course we tried to ask but he just changed the subject quickly.
What really has me worried is for a while he and a friend of ours have been flirting, just teasing eachother but we can tell its more than that. We had a bet going to see how look it would take them to kiss. Apparently it took to long and she started dating another dude. No one told my friend and he found out by walking by them all over eachother on the quad. I was with him and he just kinda rolled his shoulders back, did that weird jaw flex men do and kept walking. That was a few days ago and none if us have barely heard a word. Apparently he’s preparing to go on a hunting trip for 3 weeks but i know hes just trying to run from his feelings. Im afraid to outright confront him about it. But i think he feels he’s alone. And i want to show him he’s not

2023.06.09 00:40 JoshMcGill_ Am I the only one who doesn't like the design of necromancer?

(This is my own personal opinion, if you enjoy necro and it's your favourite class that's great I'm not insulting your family lineage, this is just how I view the class)
As the title says, usually I love the idea and theme of a necromancer but in diablo 4 the necromancers ability design just isn't appealing to me personally. Granted I have only level one to 25 so it very well could change a lot past that but. My main gripes are with the skills themselves. Any type of build that includes blight/darkness dmg just looks like I'm smearing poop all over the ground and it makes it so difficult to even tell what's going on. Bone spear is also weird to me it's too skinny if that makes sense. And having to rely on corpses for half the abilities just feels bad. I just want large, circular targeter blood/bone theme to skills that don't rely on corpses. Another problem I have with necro is the character customization itself. Why am i forced to play as a tall skinny guy with bad posture? Why can't I have a buff necro? . It makes a lot of the armour sets goofy looking when it's on a guy that's 2% body fat. The hairstyles are also pretty lackluster. It's also just a pet peeve of mine but why can I carry a huge sword or scythe but can't use it. Almost all of the basic skills are long range and would look the exact same if I weren't holding a weapon.

Brown Bricks
Got to love those 2017 brown bricks! But thanks to the Lego group’s amazing customer service. Broken or not, they replaced every brown brick in the set with no questions asked. I admittedly was worried at first, having purchased this retired set 2nd hand from marketplace. I’ve heard of them doing this for people before, but thankfully never had to experience it myself.

2023.06.09 00:40 dashininfashion Current trucking school student. Have a few questions.

I just finished my class A classroom training and start range/road training on the 19th. I'm currently a school bus driver. Have some questions.
I'm pretty happy with my current job and not exactly desperate for another job. As a matter of fact, i have a pretty decent permanent route and am kind of worried that if i quit to start trucking, if i ever decided to go back, i wouldn't be able to get such a good route again. My ultimate goal is to retire as a school bus driver with a small business on the side, but right now i could use a little extra capital to speed up the growth of my business.
Is it worth getting into trucking right now with a looming economic downturn? One great thing about the school bus is it's recession proof. Also, would it only be adviseable to go with a mega or larger company if i'm worried about the economy? If not, what's the best way to find a smaller company to drive for? I've heard that a lot of the better companies to drive for don't do a lot of advertising. How badly would an economic downturn affect the different types of trucking jobs anyways? Is one type more stable than others? I do have my X endorsement, will get TWIC next week, and doubles/triples the week after i pass my road test. Also no auto restriction. How firm are most companies on their "1 year class A experience" requirements? I have a clean driving record, clean criminal history, etc. Most of my recent work experience is in food delivery (doordash/ubereats) with school bus since february. Before that i worked in customer service for a few years and am definitely able to sell myself if i can score an interview. Also, are union jobs worth it? Will they hire straight out of school? Where can i find union jobs? And what are the chances of putting my X endorsement to use as a new graduate? Or will that require experience? I just rejected a class B propane gig for over $29/hr and kind of regret it but i know class A experience will mean more in the long term.

2023.06.09 00:39 Wtj182 Costco Cinnamon Rolls have ruined me. RUINED!!!!!

It all started with a free sample. It's always the free samples. I have never once looked at buying their cinnamon rolls. I had the will power to walk past and not even think about it. But then, that, sample lady, with a big tray of cinnamon roll slivers. Just happened to point out what it was, I took one and my little instantly asked for some. I then went back and got another for me.
I was not ready for what happened next. The initial encounter was like being smacked in the face with a feather duster made of pure joy. The soft, doughy embrace wrapped around my tongue, while a symphony of cinnamon and sugar serenaded my senses. It was like tasting the essence of a unicorn's dreams.
Time seemed to lose all meaning as I devoured that cinnamon roll, my taste buds doing a joyful jig and my eyes widening like a surprised owl. It was an experience so epic, so outlandish, that I half-expected a marching band to burst through the door, playing a symphony of sugary melodies.
My little one loves cinnamon rolls. Like we use them as bribery depending on the situation. As you can imagine, having this power on hand, would be a game changer. I did try an experiment.
You can freeze the whole tin of cinnamon rolls, wait for the thing to become a solid mass of frozen goodness. Then put the rolls face down on a cutting board, the frosting will be fine as it's frozen solid. Pry off the aluminum tin, flip it back over, and cut it into individual servings, bag, and put them back into the freezer. I pulled out some last night, they thawed out just fine.
My wife is so annoyed with me because of what I have discovered. Who doesn't love the idea having Costco Cinnamon rolls on demand?!

2023.06.09 00:38 arsonislegal Intune password & configuration policies and local accounts

Hey folks,
This has become a very annoying issue for a customer and I need to figure it out.
Customer has some Windows machines with various Intune configuration profiles on them. This includes a setting for max password age at 730 days.
The issue is that local service accounts on some machines are having their password expiry happen way more frequently than that. A tech will set the password to never expire on the local account, but then as soon as two weeks later the password has expired again. Then you check the account, and password never expires is unchecked. Tech changes local security policy on the machine, but then eventually it changes itself back to 42 days. Password history is set to 0 so password reuse shouldn't be an issue.
The thing is, I cant seem to make it do this on command. I've changed the settings for password expiry and age, then when I force a sync it doesnt reset them back. It seems to happen randomly. The closest thing i've found to my issue is this blog post where it describes the Windows 10 security baseline making local accounts change password on next logon, but security baselines are not in use for this customer.
I appreciate any help that can be provided. This is a big pain point for the customer and a time sink for techs.
Thanks!

2023.06.09 00:38 nightshade00013 r/DIY_Creations subreddit will be joining in on the June 12th-14th protest of Reddit's API changes that will essentially kill all 3rd party Reddit apps.

This subreddit will be joining in on the June 12th-14th protest of Reddit's API changes that will essentially kill all 3rd party Reddit apps. What's going on?
