2023.02.10 17:14 NickNaCkS_09 Unofficial PVP Servers (With afk killing off?)
Hey, I've recently decided to get over my fear of titanoboas and rejoin ARK haha.
Since I want to get into some PVP but still want to make friends, are there any good servers (preferably close to vanilla) which meet these 3 requirements? Thanks!
-PVP
-Non-Grindy (Not 100x speed, but also not default)

2023.01.19 16:49 Zetyr187 The Basilisk aggro pull...
I decided to tame a Basilisk last night on Abberation. I hadn't done it in years and figured having a Basilisk around would be fun. The taming went smoothly and I actually did it twice to check if they had enabled breeding yet and also shoot for a better stat roll (they've changed a lot recently in Ark, so I had hopes...) After successfully taming I took it out for a meat run and man I loved it. I'd forgotten how fun and versatile these guys were, and thanks to the crazy carry weight got enough meat to last for a WHILE.
What I'd also forgotten, and what bugs me, is how many things aggro on the Basilisk. The Karkinos and Spinos aggroing didn't surprise me, but RAPTORS!? Titanoboas, Sarcos, and Ravagers too! Basically any carnivore, no matter where it fell on the food chain, targeted the Basilisk.
I mean, this is an end map tame. My taming went smoothly because I was prepared but this is not something I would call a simple tame. Plus the base wild stats speak volumes. I compared it to the Rex, Theri, and Spino (big three that rarely get aggro). I even threw in the Kark because it's another one on Abb that rarely pulls aggro. The Basilisk is better in stats than all of those except the Rex's melee and the food stats in general. Also it's size is HUGE. I'm not sure of its length vs height of the rex, but it's longer than my spinos and drakes by far.
It just feels like this is an Alpha predator on Abb and it's treated aggro wise like a moschops and that really grinds my gears. I want to be able to move about the map on it unhindered.

2022.09.18 22:13 Bufonite Anyone else have an unconscious tame teleport 500m away?
I've started playing ARK again for the first time in two years and I've been having a blast. So far I've had NO crashes, no dinosaurs magically disappearing, etc. which is what caused me to stop playing years ago.
I'm in singleplayer on the Lost Island map and came across a level 180 tek stego on Gloom Rock. I knocked her out, went off to get some berries and uh. Her taming tracker was suddenly far away. I figured okay, weird bug, it's showing up somewhere else, but when I got back to where I knocked her out she was gone.
She teleported 500m away to the middle of the fucking jungle. And of course a titanoboa started trying to eat her... Thankfully I already have a 180 perfect tame female tek stego who has better stats but still, what the fuck lmao.
Has anyone else knocked something out and had it straight up just move across the map?

2022.08.10 19:02 NickNaCkS_09 Is there a mod similar to this?
Are there any mods that remove titanoboas? If not could somebody please make a small mod for it? I stopped playing ark after getting to the swamp, and if there were any mods that can remove those and make sarcos drop the venom, that would be amazing.
(I know that making mods can be difficult but that would be great. )

2022.07.17 20:59 canja_3 Titanoboa breeding?
I'm somewhat new to ark I want to make a Titanoboa army but obviously if you've played ark you would know Titanoboa don't breed and taming them can be tedious. that being the case I was told by friends that you could make them breed with a tek replicator. we don't have much in the way of element so I want to know if I can do that before I go ahead and make one. so here's the question straight up. can I breed Titanoboa using a tek replicator? thanks to anyone that responds.

2022.02.16 18:07 Professionalsloth94 Explorer notes & artifact of the strong
So I’m at 50% and all the notes I’ve found have always been beside a ruin, suddenly in the swamps getting some titanoboa venom I find a little pot containing one with no ruins around it????? Are you telling me the 50% left are just scattered alone? The only box I ever found without a ruin was in an artifact cave and one on dead island thinking it was fairly obvious but now I’m like ark are you serious? Also just finished the cave with the artifact of the strong and god damn was that hard. First artifact cave I don’t find notes in either.. ark you are making me suspicious 🤨

2021.11.02 14:53 DLaithIOS hilarious funny halloween update story
Ok guys, so the funniest thing happened yesterday!! I was playing ARK with my friend, and we had recently tamed the most badass Tek Stego you'll ever see. I also tamed a Pachy, but that was easy. The way we tamed the Stego was by making it chase us between any trees that were less than 5 miles apart. This caused its AI to go legally braindead and proceed to give up on all attempts of survival against 69420133780085 club hits, until we finally got its titanic torpidity to go down. I was super happy about this, right? It was a new save, and we were killing it.
So, I had just got to level 38, and was farming keratin by slaughtering trikes, turtles, and heck, even carnos. After which, I saw a poor Moschops being turned into beef stew by a Raptor. So, I took out my Raptor, but somehow, it was an Alpha Raptor. An Alpha Raptor on South 2 guys, isn't that fair? Either way, there was no running away from it, so my Raptor was turned into a pile of meat. Oh, and I died in two seconds. So, I took out a trike to try and kill the A-Raptor, right?
Great idea! Surely it will win. Luckily, I didn't die to the Raptor, but I instead died to about 200 Zomdodos. Cool, we all know what that means, right? Trike had died in 10 seconds, and since I chased three Zomdodos to my base, when I respawned at another base for prep, when I came back, the place looked like Dachau, with the pile of my animals, and the main man himself on top!
Naturally, I instantly shut down my computer, and ripped out the hard drive that ARK was on to corrupt the latest save. Anyways, when I came back, it still looked like someone concentrated too hard, so I had to save edit. Now, I burned through a metric ton of saves, and this caused my to end up on my last relevant save, from yesterday.
So, this wasn't so bad, and I lured the three avenger level threats to an entirely different zone that I don't even remember now. The painfully ironic part is, I didn't die from any of those guys in the end, I got killed by a Titanoboa. And I forgot to empty my inventory. Anyways, there's no way I'm rage quitting like a little baby, just thought I'd share this story. Still the best game in my book. Always.

2021.06.02 03:44 Hyeguy29 A Very Long List of Tamable Dinos V2
About 2 years or so ago I posted a list of all dinos and their utilities that I made for myself prior. I use it all the time as a personal resource and figured I should share it. Especially now that I have FINALLY finished my goal of taming every creature (and every variant) on here. This list has been updated to include all the TLCs and DLCs that have come out over the last couple years and, with Genesis Part 2 dropping tomorrow, this is probably as good a time as any to share once again. Did my best to proofread it but please let me know if I missed the mark somewhere so I can fix it. Feel free to save, share, or do whatever with this. Without further ado, the list.
Tamable ARK Creatures:
Vanilla:
- Achatina - generates cementing paste and organic polymer, can store organic polymer and increase its spoil time

- Morellatops - acts as water tank, gathers berries, thatch, and cactus sap, also pretty fast jack-of-all-trades mount
- Phoenix - super fast flying mount, burns golems easily, acts as campfire and forge cooking food and metal alike, and poops silica pearls
- Rock Elemental - natural 50% damage reduction, can throw rocks like a catapult and damage stone structures, can hide in the form of a rock, will sink to ocean floor but has no oxygen stat, can collect most base resources including stone really well
- Thorny Dragon - gathers wood extremely well, weight reduction (wood, thatch, fiber, stone), saddle acts as a smithy (can feed it focal chili to make it craft faster), can shoot quilts to inflict torpor and keep enemies at bay or knock out Dinos
- Vulture - can attack from shoulder for extra protection, meat has 4x spoil time in inventory but must be gathered by the vulture, passively harvests meat when on shoulder and standing next to corpses
- Wyvern (Fire, Lightning, Poison variants) - gathers wood, thatch, and cactus sap well, can carry many Dinos, very very fast with low stamina drain, fairly maneuverable, powerful bites and specialized breath weapons, Fire shoots a cone of fire directly in front of its head dealing high damage to all targets in cone and leaves a burning DoT, Lightning shoots a beam of lighting directly at whatever the head is aiming at which deals extremely high damage and some torpor, Poison shoots a ball of poison gas that travels for a long distance in a straight line that is hard to aim but explodes on contact leaving an AoE gas cloud that damages the rider as well as the mount
Ragnarok Added:
- Dire Polar Bear - see direbear
- Griffin - extremely fast flyer with powerful divebomb attack, dive increases its speed, can carry two players and small Dinos
- Ice Wyvern - see wyvern for basics, ice shoots a cone of frost breath similar to the fire except it causes the target to be slowed rather than applying a fire DoT
Aberration Added:
- Basilisk - high torpor attack, extremely high weight, high damage, high speed, and has no oxygen stat, can also burrow, also shoots same ball of poison that poison wyverns have
- Bulbdog - provides charge (best capacity) and detects players and max level Dinos
- Featherlight - provides charge (low capacity but best range) and detects players and max level Dinos, also only flying Dino that can wear a helmet
- Glowtail - provides charge (low capacity, best recharge rate) and detects players and max level Dinos, also cannot fight back
- Karkinos - can traverse Aberration well due to massive jumping, can pick up two creatures at once (tamed or wild), no oxygen stat and straight vertical jump in water, immune to radiation, can carry harvesters, little to no fall damage depending on distance
- Lamprey - can unclaim for it to attach to you and provide charge and radiation protection
- Ravager - decent stamina, decent speed, can use zip lines, excellent jumping, weight reduction (wood, fungal wood, thatch, metal, green gem, fiber, crystal, obsidian, stone), also pack bonus, little to no fall damage depending on distance
- Reaper - apex Aberration carnivore, super powerful, fast and can jump, it floats on water, immune to radiation, can burrow making a super charged tripmine or hidden vault with a powerful guardian, acid attack can slow enemies, huge innate damage reduction that disappears when exposed to charge light
- Rock Drake - extreme mobility thanks to gliding, swimming, AND climbing walls/ceilings, can turn invisible with camouflage ability, the feathers on their head will stand up when reapers are nearby, can be used to easily gather more rock drake eggs, can carry an extra player, also has a tek saddle option
- Roll Rat - gathers wood well, weight reduction (wood, fungal wood), rolls quickly and can carry multiple players, can quickly remove trees and rocks by rolling through them, keep in mind that the saddle can break, also produces poop like a phiomia with the use of stimberries (but only when ridden)
- Shinehorn - provides charge (balanced charge capacity and recharge rate), detect players and max level Dinos
Plus the Aberrant versions of the following Dinos (they have 4% less health, 6% more damage, immune to radiation, and glow in the dark). They have the same utilities, however, so they will not be listed twice. See above for details.

Extinction Added:
- Enforcer - fast, agile, wall-climbing AND teleportation, also AOE knockback attack, don’t take fall damage, deal 4x more damage to corrupted creatures, can harvest Metal remains for resources
- Gacha - solitary (can’t have another within 12 foundations of each other unless mated, ONE mate), this negates the following, transmutation, fed stuff and creates resources after dropping crystal from back, crafting skill to increase quality and speed of this, feeding snow owl pellets provide buff to speed and resource amount, also amazing at harvesting a variety of resources, weight reduction (metal, stone, wood, fungal wood), will pick up anything lying around on the floor so it can gather poop and stuff for you, however, will eat literally anything but poop so be careful
- Gasbag - high weight, can fly in an odd way, sucks in air and can release it to jump and float away, increase oxygen to increase flight time, increase speed for flight speed, won’t take fall damage unless gas meter is empty, also takes 80% less damage when full on gas
- Managarmr - by far the squishiest of the draconic tames, meant for support/travel, has ice laser breath with good range but weak dps to freeze targets, extremely fast walk/run on ground, can chase down literally anything, can launch itself into the air and glide, extremely maneuverable, can dodge midair, no fall damage, note: nerfs have left it with only one dash, three jumps, and six dodges before it needs to land (still pretty good though)
- Mek - literally a giant suit of armor for killing Godzilla, uses element for fuel, has a heat meter when overused and must cooldown, can’t level, has a sword and pistol, has different modules that can be attached, 1, MDSM allows deployment of a forcefield that blocks projectiles but not mobs from entering, when retracted enemies inside get debuff and take more damage, 2, MRLM allows firing of a barrage of rockets, 3, MSCM allows firing of a single cannon shot at a target (best way to tame a Titanosaur), 4, MOMI allows merging with three other meks to form a megamek to kill the alpha king titan ONLY, also 9x sword damage and 3x pistol damage multipliers on enemy tamed titans, also high weight
- Snow Owl - can glide by flying directly downward like a griffin, can also dive swipe like a griffin, can freeze itself and any creature nearby (friendly or otherwise) to stop movement and rapidly heal, also provides damage reduction while frozen, doing this while midair will cause it to drop like a rock and affect a larger range for slightly longer, has heat vision, vomits owl pellets which are great for Gacha or fertilizer
- Titans - world bosses that can be killed (4) or tamed (3, king can’t be tamed), destroy corruption to knockout, then just activate to tame, spawns with its own saddle, temporary in official, can’t heal or feed, permanent in solo but can only have one of each at a time, literally tamed bosses with stupidly high levels and stats, desert titan, largest platform saddle in game, can fly, weight of creatures/players/structures not added to titans weight, also buff allowing movement even if overencumbered, best support titan, forest titan, best tank titan for killing the King, cool/powerful attacks, can freeze itself in place with a block that reduces damage, ice titan, best dps titan, can jump large distances, all three necessary for King Titan but know that they take 5x damage from him
- Velonasaur - similar to raptor in speed, health, stamina when leveled, swing attack can damage enemies around it, can act as a machine gun by shooting its spines to shred enemies at a distance, can be set to turret mode and used for base defense
Valguero Added:
- Ice Elemental - see Rock Elemental
- Deinonychus - similar to a raptor but they can latch onto large Dinos and bite them while hanging on causing huge bleed damage, can pin down small Dinos, can latch onto walls and jump to climb them, pack bonus and vocalizations, can glide a little bit, boss killers with huge bleed potential
- Chalk Elemental - see Rock Elemental
Genesis Part 1 Added:
- Astrocetus - warp ability to teleport a short distance through anything (creatures, structures, terrain) and works like enforcer teleport, only saddle is a tek saddle with three turrets and a bomber mode, level speed to increase “cosmic power” for more warps and bombing, level melee for increased bomb damage, will take damage when dismounted outside of lunar biome for no reason, can viably kill titans with bombs, extremely high weight
- Bloodstalker - provides “spider vision” when ridden and works like tek helmet outlining nearby dinos with red if hostile, white if neutral, and green if allied, note that this doesn’t work through walls or on structures but does work on turrets, web slinging for movement is tricky to control but very fast and can latch onto anything for momentum, can web small creatures and players to feed off of them for health and food, can pull out weapons while riding, can walk on water, walk on walls/ceilings, and swim, will drain player health (or consume blood packs from inventory) when health drops below 40%, note that when breeding eggs can’t be moved so mate near air conditioners
- Ferox - shapeshifter, can sit on shoulder when small and be ridden when big, when small will occasionally bring player element dust, feed element to change to big form, can climb surfaces like deinonychus, powerful jump, has rock throw, can wear helmets (in both forms), provides insulation like an otter (in both forms), very powerful, element addiction mechanic, higher addiction means higher element cost for transformation, better stats when transformed, and shorter transformation time, each transformation increases addiction by 5% but will decay slowly over time, only breedable at max addiction
- Magmasaur - searing spit ability uses metal ingots and shoots a giant ball of lava that damages on impact and cluster bombs (can be charged up for more damage), charges faster in hot biomes/lava but much slower (or not at all) in cold biomes/water, if charged but not shot, it will explode shrapnel around head with small self damage and damage to surroundings, can taunt with gas, acts as a forge/campfire but consumes food super fast, can do full damage to rock elementals, gathers same resources as anky but with higher health, weight, and is ignored by dangerous dinos, weight reduction (metal, metal ingots, ambergris), immune to all fire damage, players can survive the volcano eruption while riding this, can only breed while immersed in lava pool
- Megachelon - can build on shell without saddle, provides constant oxygen, can shoot bubbles that force targets to float to the surface, super high weight but no special reductions, powerful but slow, passively produce rare flowers/mushrooms and azulberry/amarberry seeds with no limit (more flowers and mushrooms increases the amount of foliage on its back), can swim and walk on land, automatically irrigates and plots on its back, shell has damage resistance, only breedable at the deepest parts of genesis, ragnarok, and the center
- Tek Triceratops - see Triceratops but slightly more powerful (spawns with a max wild level of 180 instead of 150)
Plus X creatures that deal 250% more damage and 60% damage resistance from all sources (including torpor) and have very unique, biome dependent skins. Once tamed, they have 5% more damage, 3% less health, can be leveled 88 times (vs 73 for all other dinos on official), have hard level cap of 500 (vs 450 for all other dinos on official), and provide 2.5x the experience for killing them. All other utilities are identical to base creatures so see above for details.
- X-Allosaurus (volcanic)
- X-Ankylosaurus (volcanic)
- X-Argentavis (arctic)
- X-Basilosaurus (ocean)
- X-Dunkleosteus (ocean)

- X-Spinosaurus (bog)
- X-Tapejara (bog)
- X-Triceratops (volcanic)
- X-Wooly Rhino (arctic)
- X-Yutyrannus (arctic)
Crystal Isles Added:
- Crystal Wyvern - (Ember, Blood, and Tropical variants) see Wyvern for basics, note that these can be tamed passively, also faster and tighter turning radius than normal Wyverns, lower bite damage and slower attack speed than normal wyverns, breath will not hurt allies, can eat crystal if hungry, can be fed and healed by sweet veggie cakes, Tropical shoots long range jet of water for low damage but applies “scolded” that reduces target health and stamina, also buffed by water like Spinos, Blood shoots blood stream mid range, inflicts “blood curse” DoT on enemy and adds “blood curse recovery” HoT to self, Ember shoots tighter stream of fire long range which does a ton of damage and increases damage with rage, rage meter increases with breath uses
- Tropeognathus - acts as an industrial grinder, saddle has a jet with two speed modes and consumes gasoline and stamina, evasive maneuver flips direction while jetting, has a turret that shoots grenades, has knockback like Wyverns but can be used in air and on ground, can pick up small dinos and players, otherwise acts exactly like a tapejara
Genesis Part 2 Added:
- Astrodelphis - acts as an upgraded tropeognathus or mini astrocetus, tek saddle that has thrusters and laser cannons, costs element to run, can fire a heavy homing blast of energy, can shoot grenades from its inventory, same evasive maneuvers as a tropeo, can reveal nearby creatures underwater with sonar ability, killing a creature drops a glowing buff that increases damage, damage resistance, and movement speed for 60 sec when flown through, buff can stack with a second fly through for an upgraded buff for 40 sec
- Exo-mek - smaller mek, acts as a tek replicator, four modes, (1) combat mode with punch attacks, not as strong as a normal mek, (2) storage mode with ability to pick up structures and store them in virtual module for placement later at different locations, (3) carry mode with the ability to pick up structures (not foundations) and place them elsewhere, this includes storage containers with all items still inside, (4) RTS mode that literally turns the gaming into an RTS, enters a birds-eye view allowing highlighting and moving creatures like troops far more effectively than whistling
- Maewing - nursing ability acts as a trough for babies when appropriate food is in its inventory, leveling nursing effectiveness increases range, can carry/steal babies with saddle equipped up to 99.9% maturation, automatically pop out at 100%, eggs of random quality can make kibble of that quality, can breed two despite being genderless, extremely fast when gliding and can slide on the ground or water surface after glides, weight reduction (berries, meat)
- Noglin - can temporarily mind control other players and creatures allowing control of them as if they were tamed creatures, target is automatically killed (10mil damage applied) when time runs out, mine controlled players can open doors and activate generators, wild creatures different than tamed ones act as tamed ones when controlled (like gigas), can only mind control enemies with at least 50% health and lower level than noglin, short list of creatures exempt from mind control on wiki
- Shadowmane - saddle-less but have natural armor, powerful charged jump ability (both genders), no fall damage after jump and reduced fall damage in all other cases, basic attacks fill bar that allows for power attack when full, if power attack kills a target then it will automatically refill and allow for another use (both genders), invisibility (solo for males, all creatures nearby for females) with slowed movement speed, dash attack that damages and briefly stuns target (hold to target multiple creatures, both genders), courage roar (male only but only usable when mate boosted), enemies poisoned when attacked causing damage reduction and a DOT, both stack up to 5 times, hydration buff boosts damage, speed, health regen when touching water and for 30 sec after leaving water, no oxygen stat, stays when dismounted underwater, super fast swimmer, can jump underwater, can carry a passenger
- Stryder - mobile tek transmitter but no creatures, mobile bed, can recharge batteries in inventory, can change settings to always/never charge or always/never use the batteries, can be set to replant foliage when walking by, can be linked to a dedicated storage which will transfer all of that resource from its inventory to that box from any distance, changing storage resource type will update the stryder automatically, excavator rig will only mine storage resource when setting is turned on, two rig slots for head (H) and body (B) that cannot be unequipped or changed, all rigs use charge which generates over time or used batteries, (H1) Excavator will harvest every resource in the game except extinction light poles/benches/tables, (H2) Pulse Cannon will shoot tek laser blasts, (H3) Silence Cannon which prevents all roars for 30 sec, (H4) Radar detects nearby living creature distance and levels and can track a detected creature, (B1) Phase Cannon shoots concentrated tek blast, (B2) Resource Attractor provides weight reduction for every item in the game by 65% (all resources, structures, gear, etc), allows setting for resources harvested nearby with a mining drill to go to stryder inventory instead of player, (B3) Shield Generator drops a shield that acts similarly to a tek shield generator, (B4) Shield Projector displays a shield in the direction the stryder looks and is directly related to health rather than charge, note that ONLY the stomp attack scales with melee damage, mining and attack rigs are not affected
- Voidwyrm - a tek Wyvern so see the Wyvern entry for basics, the breath shoots a short range flat triangle of electricity that deals heavy damage, dismount riders, and stun lock creatures, breath can also damage tek structures
Plus GEN-R creatures that have very unique skins. Once tamed, they have 5% more damage, 3% less health, and have hard level cap of 500 (vs 450 for all other dinos on official). All other utilities are identical to base creatures so see above for details.

2021.05.16 21:47 hammyog [Rant] Mob Spawn Really Irritates Me
I find it more than annoying that mobs aren't region specific.
I get it, it's a game; and a challenging one at that.. BUT I so badly want a mod that holds spawns to certain regions of the map.
Even peaceful spawns, when I see them in places that don't really make sense (like a parasaur on the beach) it irritates me and makes me want to not play the game. Most of my beef comes from aggressive mobs though; why the hell would a titanoboa spawn in the plains? Or a saber tooth on the beech?
There are plenty of things waiting to kill you, why not have them bound to certain regions?
It would make more sense to me if the harder to kill dinos were spawning in regions where higher tier resources spawn.
I'm new to ark, and I just started Ragnorak, and Jesus Christ. Mantises? I ran into one on my adventure around the coast line looking for crates (I've heard they spawn some decent loot) and I'm always killed in 2 hits from them, and it takes me so damn long to kill them.
Some mob spawn should be all over the map, from the top of my head; the ants makes sense to spawn everywhere. Compy's (spelling is probably wrong) those monitor looking dinos and plenty others are completely fitting in my book to spawn all over the map.. but damn, the night time is hard enough to live through, if you can even do that; let alone being one hit by a damn bug..
Rants over, sorry guys lol.
Maybe there's a mod that does that?

2021.01.09 19:32 roonvee How to enter redwood forest in island map without fighting titanoboa !?
I started playing ark recently and loving it so much. My first contact with each Dino is thrilling experience. I didn’t check YouTube also since it will spoil my experience with this game.
(Long story short : I’m very very scared of the big snakes in ark. I just want to cross swamp without contacting any snake also don’t want to die in the hands of thylo in redwood. )
I just got my first pteranodon so was flying happily around the island and saw valcano after redwood. So I decided to visit it. On the way I just landed to regain the stamina near swamps just saw many titanoboa wandering and as a surprise within few minutes one just came very close and scared me and attacked my pteranodon. I did escape by swimming away. For few minutes right went on and my bird died. I ran away from that place. Made me so sad loosing my first bird.
And then trained one more pteranodon and decided to cross swamps without landing anywhere near it. Succeeded! At Left side of the red wood forest just landed on an rock and saw many titanoboa from far away and encountered many other Dino like carno. Since it was nearly evening I decided to go back to base. So while returning unfortunately stamina was less near swamps and in bottom two titanoboa scared me away so just got little bit inside the red wood damn big claw killed us in a sec. then I came to know it was thylo. I didn’t even return to take my stuffs back.
Then now I’m training my new pteranodon named redwing. I’m being careful with her. Not taking her anywhere near danger. Now I want to either cross redwood or go inside redwood without contacting the snakes. Because I heard there only we can find other awesome flying dinos.
Please give some idea like which Dino I can use to kill titanoboa. I’m at level 73 now playing local single player. Still didn’t have any baryonyx(I lost my only one baryonyx to jelly fishes) or big fighting Dino.
Thanks!

2020.11.08 03:18 pokemastercj1 I'm Honestly Disappointed with TLC 3
I know this post may end up sounding entitled or ungrateful, so I'm going to do my best to explain why I'm so disappointed in TLC 3
TLC 2 came out nearly 3 years ago, and with it came 6 excellent changes to some of Ark's older residents, compounding with the 5 previous TLC creatures from the first TLC which had come out ~2 months prior. Even with all of the updates to older creatures, the community agreed that a 3rd pass was sorely needed, as many creatures still really needed both functional and visual updates. This past spring when we were told TLC 3 was finally coming, I was ecstatic, and those first two TLC reveals for the Mammoth and Stegosaurus were great! The Mammoth was perhaps #1 in most players' lists for creatures that needed TLC, and I can say personally it was in my top 3, and then Stegosaurus, while maybe not needing the extreme functional makeover, was in dire need for a better appearance with the original barely even looking like a Stegosaurus, just vaguely Stegosaur shaped dinosaur. But then when the third TLC 3 update came out just talking about breeding insects and a taming hub and subsequent community crunches released without even mentioning TLC 3, I realized that those two creatures were the only two creatures receiving real TLC.
Now yes, outside of the Mammoth and Stego the ability to finally breed Insects and a couple other creatures as well as the new taming Hud are very nice additions, but outside of those and a few minor tweaks to a select couple creatures, the only other major TLC change would arguably be Megalodon with a Pack Buff and Bleed Bite. Sure what we got wasn't bad but need I remind y'all the first two TLCs came with 5 total creature overhauls each and TLC 2 came with a bonus Parasaurolophus TLC (that annoyingly lacked a visual makeover for one of the ugliest things in the game, but it was likely last-minute so whatever). This TLC came with only 2 Overhauls, Insect breeding (which most of the actual work Wildcard did is just a new insect egg model and minor tweaks to existing models to make the babies) and a new HUD that was probably also not that much work comparatively. Now if this had released within a similar time window after TLC 2 as TLC 2 had released after 1, I could forgive it, but it's been 2 and a half years.
I get that Wildcard spent a lot of these past 2 and a half years working on Extinction and Genesis, but TLC 1 released only 1-2 months after Aberration came out and TLC 2 was only 1-2 months after TLC 1, and yet both had way more content than TLC 3. And its not as if no more creatures need TLC, some are in desperate need in fact. Here is just a list of Creatures I can think of that could use visual, functional or total overhauls:
Ankylosaurus - Visual
Araneo (Spider) - Total
Brontosaurus - Total
Carbonemys (Turtle) - Total
Carnotaurus - Total (Like really really badly)
Dilophosaurus - At least Visual
Dimorphodon - Total
Gallimimus - Total
Giganotosaurus - Visual
Megaloceros - Total
Megalodon - Visual
Mosasaurus - Visual
Onyc (Bat) - Total
Pachycephalosaurus - Total
Parasaurolophus - Visual
Pelagornis - Visual
Phiomia - Total
Plesiosaur - Visual
Pteranodon - Visual
Quetzalcoatlus - Visual
Sabertooth - Functional
Terror Bird - Visual
Titanoboa - Total
Titanomyrma (Ant) - Total
Wooly Rhino - Functional
So with the lack of actual TLC in TLC 3 compared to the first 2, the amount of time Wildcard had to work on TLC 3 and combined with how many creatures are still desperate for total overhauls, TLC 3 just feels incredibly disappointing in my eyes.

2020.10.21 23:47 Rapid-Phyre Genesis 2 Wish List
What are some of the things you guys are hoping to see with Genesis 2? Here's my wishlist: - Flyer-Enabled Map: Flyers really do change the game, and Aberration and Genesis 1 do provide unique challenges with disabled flyers. However, flying is one of the most freeing and enjoyable experiences in Ark, and I would love to see Genesis 2 restore flyers but add actual challenges to find when traveling by air. Wyverns sort of serve that purpose on some maps, but we need more. Make flying feel as dangerous as traveling deep in the ocean.
- Seamless Map: While the teleporting system on Genesis 1 was decent and very useful, not being able to travel by land between biomes really made the map feel disjointed.
- More Interesting & Unique Tames: Bloodstalker was an absolutely fantastic addition in Genesis 1. The taming process, while very time-consuming, was very fun and unique. The creature itself adds amazing versatility as a mount and I use it all the time. Similar thing with the Ferox. Gave me the same vibes when I tamed my first Reaper. Please add more creatures that are this interesting!
- More Structure Variety: Would love to see more cosmetic structures, more defense/trap-related structures, and more tek structures in the game. Building is one of the funnest things to do in this game, give us more!
- More Base-Defense Dinos: Velonasaurs were a fantastic base-defense addition. While turret-mode does make many dinos useful for base defense, few things beat actual turrets in terms of space and power. I would love to see some new dinos change up this meta and give us more options.
- Refined Mission System: The mission system of Genesis 1 was a brilliant addition in terms of adding unique challenges and content to the game. However, while the concept was great, the execution wasn't always there. Having to build outside of mission areas was dumb. Having your dinos be completely vulnerable to other dinos and players while you're doing a mission was dumb. Having wild dinos get in your way while doing a race mission was dumb. With some tweaks though, this could still be a really great system in Gen 2. Or perhaps they already have better things in store for us, who knows.
- Less Non-Breedable Dinos: Breeding is a huge part of the game and few things are more disappointing than finding that an awesome creature can't be bred. It makes taming that creature feel like a dead-end. While I can understand having some genderless species of dinos, there are a plenty of non-breedable dinos that just don't make sense. Rock Drakes, Basilisk, Titanoboa, Onyc, Griffin, Wyverns, etc. You can't even really say it's to power-cap dinos because Giganatosaurus, which are the literally strongest creatures in the game in terms of damage, are breedable.
