2023.06.09 00:14 flanneled_man Phew, that was one hell of a relapse.

It feels like I just woke up from a bad dream; almost as if the last thing I can clearly remember is being on vacation in February and deluding myself into moderating again. Threw away almost 10 full months to the wayside and found myself back at square one. What started out as normal, social drinking took virtually no time at all to put my back in my place of; lying, hiding, neglecting, and generally just being a piece of shit to everyone who cares about me-- including my therapist. I've turned back into a lurker around these parts during that time, avoiding the shame of having to reset my badge... again... and again... and again.
But I dunno for whatever reason- right here and right now- I feel as hopeful as a did during those 10 months of sobriety; now I'm equipped with the important empirical evidence I need to know that I really can never, ever drink again. This has to be it. The health anxiety is too heavy and I'm done carrying it around with me. During those 10 months, there was always this little voice in the back of my head, saying... "well, maybe...." But the last few weeks of living hell has stripped me of the belief that I can ever be a normal drinker, by any means. This is not to say that there will not be challenges, as I'm certain there will be many. But at least, for today, I'm feeling a belief in myself that I thought I had lost these last few months. That's such a testament to you all and the community we've built here.
And damn, does it feel good to be back here, with you all, in this community that has pulled me out of the worst moments of my life, time and time again. Thank you. Each and everyone of you; this La Croix is for you!

2023.06.09 00:11 zogins How to collect payment for use of the washing machine.

What are other people's experiences with washing machines? I rent out a room in my house. It has its own ensuite and large balcony. In my listing, I wrote that using the washing which is available on site incurs a fee. This is because the washing machine is in my part of the house so I have to wash guests' clothes, using up water, electricity, detergent and fabric softener. But no guest has ever offered me any money after I wash their clothes and I never asked. I was thinking of writing this down in some visible space. And how much should I charge?

Brickken's Live Tokenization Event with Apex Doodles was a unique opportunity for racing enthusiasts to become part of a Community of Racing and to benefit from real-time race updates and the raffling of the race car at the end of the series. The event also raised capital for participation in the British Hagerthy Cup, utilizing NFTs as a means of capitalization.
Each unique NFT featured on the race car was fractionalized and distributed to 10 participants, giving them an entry into the raffle. This gave the participants the chance to own a piece of the race car, a truly unique experience that was made possible by the use of NFTs. Furthermore, the participants were able to benefit from the real-time race updates and the raffle at the end of the series, as well as the chance to own a piece of the race car.
The Live Tokenization Event with Apex Doodles was a great opportunity for racing enthusiasts to become part of a Community of Racing and to benefit from real-time race updates and the raffling of the race car at the end of the series.
The event also provided a great opportunity for Apex Doodles to raise capital for participation in the British Hagerthy Cup and to provide an exciting experience to participants through the use of NFTs.
At the Event, it became clear:
🔹That it is possible to divide non-fungible assets into smaller parts to boost engagement and market liquidity
🔹This process mirrors the distribution of shares among workers, or the relocation of capital table management to the blockchain, with the purpose of distribution, not fundraising
🔹The immense potential of communities in specialized sectors such as racing. Apex Doodle has gained considerable attention and fame with its original structure, catching the eye of sponsors, racers, and even the general public.
The event was a huge success, with more than 2,000 people attending in person. It highlighted the potential of tokenization to revolutionize even the most unlikely of markets, and also its applications beyond capital raising.
We wish Oscar Joyce and the Apex Doodle team the best of luck in their future endeavours, and look forward to more initiatives such as this one embracing blockchain and tokenization in different sectors.

ADVICE NEEDED: Prepping my parking area for my new Bolt
Hi folks:
Some advice needed. I'm planning for delivery of my new Bolt some time this month or early July. I do not have a garage or covered parking. The photo shows the side of my house where I park (ignore the painters' wrapping!). Recently, I had the area redone - releveled, new gravel, the railroad ties along the parking spot removed. My intent is to have a carport installed, attached to the house so I can walk out the kitchen door under cover, and so that the new charger port will also be covered.
The red door is to a storage room that has a regular outlet in it. The rest of the electrical stuff is just around the corner on the back side of the house. My assumption is that the charger installation folks can put a panel or whatever is needed near the storage room door, so it can be under the carport.
I want the carport to be 20x20, about 10f high where it attaches over the porch with a slight downslope away from the house, running the length of that bump-out part of the house. Snow load is not a concern; we get occasional tropical storms (Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina). I don't need gutters/downspouts, as long as leaves, pine needles, etc can run off.
HOWEVER. I cannot seem to get anyone to give me an estimate on an affordable attached carport. Most are refusing to even discuss an attached carport. One guy said no for "liability reasons" but wouldn't elaborate.
My questions:
  • Any idea why an attached carport would be a problem?
  • Do I need it to actually be attached? Could I instead butt it up almost against the house and still protect the charging port?
  • Will charger installers balk at putting a station in a spot that isn't fully covered? If so, could they put it inside that storage room, allowing me to run the cord through the door?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated, as I can't seem to get callbacks from most contractors.

2023.06.09 00:09 Random_Trinidadian Galena... (R.O.E. Saga)

Out of all the star systems within the known galaxy... The Galena System was by far the most notorious among the races.
Located on the very edge of the Sani Sector and what was then known as "wild space", Galena was a binary star system home to just under a dozen planets and hundreds of moons. There were at least three gas Giants that were home to most of these moons, there was at least two worlds, Galena III and Galena IV, which were capable of supporting life. While 2 massive asteroid field existed existed within the system, known as the Inner and Outer Belts for obvious reasons.
Now the reason Galena was so well known, was the fact that star system was absolutely rich in mineral deposits. Scans of the system over the years, had shown that most of the planets and asteroids were rich in Deicite, Kobal Ore, Anitium Ore and even even Serenium Crystals. Very valuable minerals indeed, as these were core components in constructing not only starships, but certain FTL drives as well.
But despite it's riches, Galena had become rather infamous among the other races. As over the centuries, there had been many attempts to establish mining operations within the system, all of whom had failed spectacularly. This was due to the "unstable" nature of the binary star system, as the twin stars would cause strange gravermetric anommolies within the system itself. While the occasional solar flare and radiation bursts made it next to impossible to navigate the star system. Getting accurate co-ordinates for a successful jump into Galena was next to impossible, as more than a few vessels had been lost attempting to enter the system.
The Capalli, the Ornix, the Vol'pina and even the Calahathy had all attempted to colonzie the star system for themselves... And each one had failed. Eventually the Galena System was left alone and ignored about by the other races. As to was generally seen as not worth the effort..... But then came the Humans and their mining corporations.....
Where everyone else saw failure, the Humans saw an opportunity. By this point, the United Earth Government had established a number of mining operations around the Galaxy, but they had never done so is such a voliatile area of space. Some government had even tried to persuade them to avoid Galena, but they still deployed ships to the system in what many believed to be another failed operation. But if we had only known....
We watched as the Humans first built dozens of automated mining facilities on the outer belt. Extracting what ever they could and exporting it back to their territory. They then began to contract a massive space station outside of Galena, complete with repair facilities and even a artificial habitat for it's crew and their families. Eventually, the humans had created a "gap" within the Outer Belt which would allow ships to enter the system with sub light engines.
Within 10 years, the humans had managed to establish a colony on Galena III, which they renamed "Worth" and constrcted a massive settlement under the surface that could house up to a quarter of a million people. Apparently they did this due to the radiation that the planet was subjected to, which as lethal to their people. Bounty would soon become home to a another ore refinery and a space port to export the refined product.
Within 20 years, the gap had become wider and the space station which had been built, was finally able to enter the system and was placed in orbit around one of the gas giants. This station would become the main stop for ships both entering a d leaving the system.
In 50 years, several more cities now existed on Bounty. Which now had a collective population of 10 million colonist, while mining operations were now in full swing in the Inner belt. Several refueling stations now existed above the three gas Giants, which now serviced the fleet of freighters that passed through every week.
Within 100 years, Galena had now been remained to the "Worth System" system and was now home to over 100 million colonist. It was now the main provider of minerals and ores to the United Earth Government, as well as one of their most important sources of revenue. So it wais no surprise that Bounty soon became home to their 11th Fleet, which regularly patrols the sector against pirates and other criminal organizations.
In the end, all we could do was watch the human enjoy the spoils of their supposedly "foolish" venture. Some with anger, some with envy, while the rest looked on in wonder.
What had once been one of the more infamous star systems in the Galaxy, was now another shining jewel in the growing human Empire....

2023.06.09 00:05 TheShiftingParadigm Chapter 7-The New Best Friend Squad Arc Part 3- Sea-Worthy Smash

Sealinies
Surrounded by Kazari, Finn, Iyexi and Archer, Maila faced her mom, the majestic Mermista. Exhaustion veiled Mermista's features. Being a mom was a hard job, especially when one of your kids was a manchild named Seahawk.
"So, like, what's up, mom?" Maila blurted, hands on her hips.
With a hand massaging her temples, Mermista began, "Okay, so, my spies tell me there's this weird cache box thingy floating around in the open sea. It's, like, radiating some strange vibes."
"So, I guess you want us to go play detective, huh?" Maila's voice dripped with sarcasm.
Mermista let out a long, tired sigh. "Maila, you're gonna be queen one day. Your dad and I thought this would be good for you. You know, learning on the job?" Mermista fetched a pair of keys and lobbed them towards Maila.
"Take the Dragon's Daughter 7. Try to forget that you’re half-Seahawk and don’t fuck this up, okay?"
Maila caught the keys mid-air, stuck her tongue out at her mom. "Well, mom, that snarkiness is why dad scores higher on my favorite parent scale!"
Mermista retaliated by launching her trident at her, missing by miles.
"Haha, missed, bitch!"
"Just scram before I break your neck!"
The Open Sea
Maila was in her element on the Dragon’s Daughter 7, feeling like she ruled the world. "Yay!" she screamed, her voice swallowed by the ocean breeze. Kazari leaned lazily against the railing, idly swirling sparks of havok magic between her fingers. “So,” she began, “has your mother been a moody bitch-canou?”
Maila chuckled lightly, “Yeah, but she’s still pretty cool. She once made sure Finn’s trauma isn’t worse than it is…” she droned.
Kazari furrowed her brow, the magicat’s head tilted slightly.
“Trauma? Maila, what the fuck are you-?”
Maila pointed to the other magicat, Finn, curled up in the fetal position, while Archer and Iyexi were doing their best to confront them. “Finn, just relax, okay?” said Archer.
“We got you, buddy!” Iyexi held Finn’s hand.
“Finn?” Kazari approached her fellow magicat. “Are you okay?” she asked, her aussie accent softened over the years.
Finn looked up at Kazari, saying, “Y-yeah, I will be once we finish this damn mission!”
"Don't sweat it, Finn! You can have a good sob with your moms once we're done!" Kazari jested, a glint of mischief in her eyes.
"Actually, I can't really be around my moms at the moment…"
"Wow, way to rain on the fun parade..." Kazari responded, her teasing tone deflating a bit.
Maila was busy fiddling with a radar when a blip appeared on the screen. "Hey, guys, I think we've got a hit!"
Everyone rose from their spots and huddled around the mermaid-pirate princess. There it was, the cache box, several feet beneath them.
"Alright, looks like this box is tucked away in a sea cave! Kazari, I could use your help hauling this thing, it seems pretty hefty. Your havoc magic should do the trick," she explained, handing out wetsuits to the team.
Kazari merely nodded, stripping down to her underwear, leaving Finn blushing like a ripe tomato. Kazari didn't miss a beat, she winked at the flustered magicat, taunting, “Guess you've hit the jackpot, tiger. Snap a picture, it'll last longer,” before wriggling into her wetsuit, and the others followed her lead.
One by one, everyone dived into the azure depths with the only expectation being Finn who said, “You guys go ahead, I’ll…stay back and watch the boat…”
Maila shot them an empathetic look as she dived in. Maila's seafoam green jacket melted around her legs, which fused into an aquamarine fish tail.
"Alright, stay close," Maila directed, speeding off into the depths with the rest of the team in her wake.
Kazari lagged slightly, swimming alongside Archer and Iyexi. She asked, "What's up with Finn? They seem off-kilter."
"Finn has a thing about water, but it's their story to share, not ours," Iyexi replied, a serious undertone in her voice. Kazari simply nodded in response, understanding the sentiment.
As they neared the cave entrance, Maila called out, "We're here. Kazari, you're up with me."
“Got it,” Kazari replied, swimming up to join Maila at the cave's entrance. The other two hung back slightly, providing cover and watching out for any surprises.
The underwater cave was darker than the surrounding sea, its entrance guarded by a mess of coral and sea plants swaying lazily in the current. Maila and Kazari had to maneuver carefully to avoid disturbing the fragile underwater life. Once past the entrance, they turned on the small lights attached to their suits, illuminating the gloomy interior.
The water inside the cave was cooler and eerily still, reflecting the beams of their lights in strange, distorted patterns on the rough cave walls. They advanced slowly, the silence broken only by the sound of their own breathing and the occasional crackle from their comms devices.
There it was, nestled among an outcropping of rocks, the cache box. Its metallic surface was half-buried in the sand and encrusted with layers of marine life, making it seem more like a part of the cave than an alien object.
Maila signaled to Kazari, pointing towards the box. With a determined nod, Kazari conjured her havoc magic. The sparks danced around her arms and core before reaching out towards the box, lifting it gently from its bed of sand and rocks.
Just when they thought everything was going smoothly, Kazari's eyes widened at a pattern she spotted. It was unmistakably similar to those cursed spiders they had encountered before.
"What the hell?" Kazari blurted out.
"Kazari, what's up?!" Archer and Iyexi's voices crackled through the comms, their concern palpable.
Maila followed Kazari's gaze just in time to see the sand beneath them begin to swirl and shift. "Guys, we need to move, now! We're not alone down here!"
Before they could react, the ocean floor erupted in a cloud of sand and debris. As the dust cleared, a massive, monstrous squid revealed itself.
"HOLY SHIT!!!" Iyexi's exclamation was barely audible over the chaos.
"We have to secure the box!" Maila commanded, doing her best to keep her cool in the face of the terrifying creature. As the squid lunged at them, they swam as fast as they could, the cache box in tow. Their hearts pounded in their chests, the adrenaline fueling their swift escape.
Through gritted teeth, Kazari shouted, "Alright, I'll keep the squid busy, you guys secure the box!"
"On it!"
Without wasting any more time, they all lunged forward, each grabbing a corner of the cache box. Maila, thanks to her mermaid physiology, found the task easier. A mermaid's strength is volumetric - directly proportional to the amount of water in contact with her body. In the vastness of the open sea, Maila was easily the strongest among them.
As they struggled with the box, Kazari swam headfirst into the fray. Her aim was to distract the gigantic squid long enough for the others to make their escape. It was a dangerous plan, but it was all they had. With a deep breath, she charged towards the monstrous creature, ready to face it head-on.
With a determined look, Kazari summoned her havok magic. Electricity crackled around her, creating an impressive, almost mesmerizing display. It felt like pins and needles pricking her scalp, but she had to ignore it. And just as she hoped, the squid turned its focus to her, tentacles lunging in her direction.
Seizing her moment, Kazari pushed off the cave wall, dodging the squirming tentacles with agile precision. She swam underneath the box and latched onto Maila’s tail, swimming swiftly to join the group.
"Archer, teleport us out of here, now!" Kazari's voice was firm, carrying the urgency of their predicament. They needed to get out, and they needed to do it fast. Archer did just that, warping the four, and the box onto the boat, in front of a perplexed Finn.
"Are you serious?!" Finn's voice echoed through the communication devices as the crew scampered back onto the Dragon's Daughter 7. Maila made a beeline for the console, revving up the ship's engines and steering them away from the underwater chaos.
Minutes later, when they were safely away from the giant squid and the adrenaline had started to wane, Finn repeated their earlier question, this time more slowly, "Can somebody please tell me what the FUCK just happened?"
Maila, steadying her breath, managed to give them a succinct answer: "Giant squid. But we did get the cache box!" She hoped that her words carried some reassurance. Despite the unexpected challenges, they'd succeeded in their mission.
“Welp, in any case, let’s crack this fucker open,” said Kazari.
Wanting to contribute, Finn popped out their claws and broke off the lock. Inside the box, were all aging weapons: an armcannon, a trident, a set of power boosting gloves, bow and arrows and a short sword and sheath.
At first, their faces reflected nothing but underwhelmed surprise. This was what they had risked their lives for? A bunch of old, worn-out weapons? But then, the realization dawned on them. These pieces were more than just weapons…
"Guys! If I'm not totally off-base here, these weapons... they look like they were crafted by the First Ones," Maila announced, her eyes wide with realization.
"The First Ones, you say?" Iyexi mused, carefully picking up the armcannon. "Well, in that case, they might actually be of use to us."
Archer nodded, his hands running over the bow and arrows. He sensed the age and craftsmanship in the simple tools. Meanwhile, Finn took hold of the gloves, inspecting them with a quiet curiosity.
As for Maila, she found herself gravitating towards the trident, a sense of familiarity washing over her. Kazari, on the other hand, chose the tanto and its sheath, a certain fondness evident in her gaze.
"Well, regardless of where they came from, they're definitely going to give us a boost for shop class," Finn commented, breaking the momentary silence. "So, at least there's that, right? Right, Kazari? Uh, Kazari?"
They all turned to look at Kazari, who seemed to be in a sort of trance. Her gaze was fixated on a rock outside the ship's window, where an unusual, smoky blob was swirling around…
Later that night…
Alone in the quiet of her dorm room, Kazari found herself captivated by the aged sword she had claimed earlier. It had an undeniable charm, a feeling of history that was too intriguing to ignore. With the sword resting in her lap, Kazari leaned back in her chair, her sketchbook splayed open on her desk.
Her pencil danced across the page, guided by her hand as she poured her thoughts into a flurry of lines and shapes. But there was one shape, one image, that kept resurfacing in her mind. The smoky blob she had seen swirling around the rock.
"What is that thing I keep seeing?" she wondered aloud, her gaze flicking back and forth between her sword and her sketchbook. "What is it trying to show me?" As the night deepened, Kazari found herself lost in her thoughts, her curiosity piqued by the mystery of the swirling smoke and the sword.

2023.06.09 00:04 kim_possible824 [F4A] WWE Romance Roleplay

Hello! I’m looking for a fellow WWE fan that would like to take part in a WWE related roleplay. I’ve had some experience with WWE roleplays but I don’t require you to have any at all. I would prefer it if you are someone that is knowledgeable about the most recent WWE stuff in order to give us more stuff to play with. So if you're currently following WWE, this is definitely for you. I’m okay with both roleplaying as real WWE wrestlers, creating our own, or a mix of both. We can discuss this and see what we each think to decide what the best approach would be. I would like to incorporate some sort of romance to the story itself either as the main plot of the story or at the very least a subplot. Along with the romance plot, I want to incorporate a lot of the WWE universe. This means matches, backstage drama and segments, as well as exploring storylines for our characters in WWE. Like I said, we can discuss all of this and make sure we’re on the same page and plan accordingly. If you have any ideas of your own that you would like to explore in this roleplay, please let me know and I would love to discuss them with you. As for potential scenarios or ideas that we can explore, here are some that I have some experience with or that I’ve wanted to try for a while. These are just general ideas and we can always mold them however we see fit as well as come up with new ones that aren’t mentioned here. Tag Team/Mixed Tag Team - we can start off the roleplay with our characters (real or fictional) being a tag team and that being where they are in terms of storyline for the WWE shows. Another way would be to have our character start off as single wrestlers and WWE deciding to put us in a tag team and explore the dynamics of that in and out of the ring. Bitter rivals - as the name suggests, this approach would have our characters being rivals, whether it be as part of a storyline or genuine animosity outside of the ring. There are many ways we can approach this and it also leaves a good opening for the romance plot to work itself in naturally. New vs Veteran wrestler - For this one, one of us would take on the role of an up and coming wrestler that has just gotten called up to the main roster. The other would be a more seasoned and veteran wrestler that could take the other under their wing or maybe our characters are put together in a storyline to help push the one that is the up and coming wrestler. Again, this could go in many directions and we can decide which way we want to go. For now, these are the ones that I can think of but they are by no means the only ones I’m willing to try. If you have any suggestions please let me know. If you like any of the ones above, let me know and we can discuss the direction we want to take. Other than that, I hope to hear from you :)

2023.06.09 00:03 NLamki Battery issue

Hello has anybody had this issue before?
I was leaving the gas station with a full tank, and was driving a bit aggressive from 1st to 2nd, (did not red line but near it), I was about to switch to 3rd but then noticed that my lights were switched off as it was night. I then realised that the bike had no electricity, tried turning the key, messing with the kill switch, etc. Ended up walking the bike home, once I was home I figured it was probably the battery, took it to a shop and they couldn't get a reading and assumed it was dead. They lead me to another shop which I got a new battery from and now works fine. My question is, why would this happen mid ride when I never had weak battery symptom?
Some of the possible causes as I did this all within a recent time frame (switched out tail light but using OEM plug, overfilled gas tank but still able to close without leaking, and a new key with a cloned chip) also, the battery is about 3 years old but as mentioned before, it gave no warning of low battery.
When connected to one of those power banks for batteries, it would start up then quickly die from not enough power, but when connected to a car battery via alligator clips, it would power up just fine.

2023.06.09 00:00 Notcloselyrelated Fast X was pretty good!

I wanted to share my thoughts on the movie cause I think it needs a bit of love.
I am not like a hardcore fan of the franchise but i've seen the movies.
So far, I agreed with the general consensus especially after 5
Fast 5 is the best
Fast 6 is great, almost on par with Fast 5 - stilll a great movie
Fast 7 - not a great movie, but emotional because of the IRL events. Great send off
Fast 8 - not good
Fast 9 - not good (imho - worse than 9, i think that's the consensus generalyl)
But i see people are not too high on X?
I think this was a really fun movie! 8 and 9 IMHO were bad (no offense if you liked them, i hope you enjoyed them more than me!) but this...this is actually a good action movie.
Yeah it has a couple of over the top scenes but nothing that got me out of the movie.
Yes, the cliffhanger ending should've been marketed better as "Fast Finale - Part 1", I agree, but i knew that going into the movie so it didn't bother me.
I thought the action was great. I thought the car chases were great. Having an actual car race was great. Vin Diesel was great as the hero. Momoa was a phenomenal character. I am a fan of splitting up teams in movies, so i can tell this leads to them having a massive Avenger-esque moment in the finale.
Jack Reacher's actor was asmazing and it was also a bit of a great advertisement for that show haha (watch the show!) Cena was...my least favorite part of the movie. Why was John Cena's character nerfed??? It went from an action villain..to a comedy character, it felt out of field with the rest of the movie.
The setpieces were great.
Overall, i think the action is what you expect from this franchise and if someone says "Oh that bit where Vin Diesel was driviing at the end escaping the big explosion - or that thing with the helicopters ...that's kinda too much"...why are you even watching the movie?? Those things are on par with the logic of the universe i don't think it went too much over the top as 8 or 9 were
I thought 10 was a return to the good action. My fave Fast movie since Fast 6 for sure.
I am excited for the finale, if it's on same level as this one and if they don't amp up the insanity...I'd be happy.
I think people that like the franchise will be happy with the movie.
What's the consensus here? Cause I see people maybe not being too happy with this movie? I think it's the best since 6. What do you all think?

2023.06.09 00:00 AutoModerator What are the benefits and side effects of Ashwagandha?

What is ashwagandha?
The ashwagandha plant is one of the most powerful herbs. Various parts of the ashwagandha plant are used for medicinal purposes, with ashwagandha extract mainly being used in supplements. Ashwagandha is an adaptogen, a natural agent that reportedly helps the body cope with stress. As a result, it’s believed to be effective at helping reduce levels of the stress hormone, cortisol. It may also therefore potentially help with anxiety and depression too.
What does ashwagandha do?
Reduces Stress and Anxiety
Ashwagandha is known to help reduce stress and anxiety. One way it does this is by reducing levels of cortisol, a hormone that is released in response to stress. Additionally, ashwagandha has been shown to improve mood and cognitive function, both of which can be negatively affected by stress.
Enhances Cognitive Function
Ashwagandha has also been shown to improve cognitive function. One study showed that it improved memory and reaction time in healthy adults. Another study found that it improved task performance in people with ADHD. Additionally, ashwagandha may help prevent age-related cognitive decline.
Boosts Energy Levels
Ashwagandha has been shown to boost energy levels. One study showed that it increased stamina and reduced fatigue in people with chronic fatigue syndrome. Additionally, ashwagandha may help improve exercise performance.
Additionally, ashwagandha may also help improve sleep quality and reduce inflammation. These effects can all contribute to enhanced energy levels.
Regulates Blood Sugar Levels
Ashwagandha has been shown to help regulate blood sugar levels. One study showed that it improved insulin sensitivity in people with type II diabetes. Additionally, ashwagandha may help reduce fasting blood sugar levels and improve symptoms of diabetes.
Additionally, ashwagandha may also help lower cholesterol levels and protect against heart disease. These effects can also contribute to improved blood sugar control.
Lowers Blood Pressure
Ashwagandha has been shown to help lower blood pressure. One study showed that it improved blood pressure in people with hypertension. Additionally, ashwagandha may help reduce stress and anxiety, both of which can contribute to high blood pressure.
Is ashwagandha safe?
Ashwagandha is generally considered safe for most people. However, it can cause side effects such as stomach upset, diarrhea, and vomiting in some people. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, it's best to avoid ashwagandha.
What happens when you take ashwagandha daily?
As a sleep aid, ashwagandha may help people get to sleep faster and stay asleep for longer. It is also used to promote male potency. Ashwagandha has a variety of health benefits, including reduced blood sugar levels, inflammation, mood, memory, stress and anxiety relief, as well as an increase in muscle strength and fertility. Depending on your requirements, dosages vary from 250 to 500 mg per day for at least one month.
When it comes to stress relief, ashwagandha may be as effective as some prescription medications. A 2010 study found that the herb was just as effective as lorazepam (Ativan) in reducing stress and anxiety. click the link below to learn more about abhwagandha, and its real health benefits.

Aight, what'd I do wrong?
Obviously the pan wasn't hot enough, the gas stove was maxed out and was as hot as it was going to get. Also I'm assuming I dry brined too long.

2023.06.09 00:00 Perspective-Guilty penetrating fluid on heatblock

Hi,
I had to use Prolong super penetrating lubricant to get parts of my Flashforge Creator Pro hotend apart. But now I'm concerned about flammability. From what I understand, when the parts heat up before printing, the lubricant will begin to off-gas as a very flammable vapor. Will 99% IPA remove the lubricant?
This is not a personal printer, but one for my job. This is why I'm a bit paranoid about fire.

2023.06.08 23:58 r_c_m_c Weekly Updates

Hey all, wanted to post for 2 reasons: to provide a record of my weekly updates on this WOE for my own accountability, and to give information to the community about what is working for me and what isn't. I am willing to discuss anything mentioned below in greater detail.
Background: American, 34F, 5'4, SW 212 (bra size 36DD (it's a little small tbh), men's Levi's size 38x30). I have tried this diet in the past but was never really strict enough...I still included things like salsa, avocadoes, condiments, hard alcohol, and way too much cheese. This time around, I'm a lot more committed to the pure basics and not so interested in finding ways to softly cheat. Part of the reason for this is also to address what I feel is a growing problem with alcohol (regularly consuming 6+ drinks per day). I have a high stress job and have been moderately depressed/anxious but unmedicated since my teen years. I recently went through the ending of an 8-year relationship as well and a move. I smoke cigarettes rarely and cannabis even more rarely, but they are both on the table for me still. Beyond weight, mental health, and alcohol abuse (my primary concerns), I hope to address stubborn acne, reactivity to poison oak and sunburn, knee and shoulder pain from old injuries, and menstrual symptoms. I currently supplement with a women's multivitamin, lysine, and krill oil...whether I continue these after I run out remains to be seen. I am not on hormonal birth control or any rx meds.
Week 1 (June 1-7): Meals consisted mostly of 80/20 ground beef, with pork sausage, bear sausage, linguica, ribeye steaks, bacon, butter, smoked salmon, cream cheese, turkey breast, and a few eggs mixed in. The first day I tried dousing everything in my normal serving of hot sauce, which was a big mistake as I found out that night and the next morning. Since then I have just used salt, pepper, and garlic powder if I feel like it. I have been decreasing the salt over my normal amount. I eat once or twice a day, so far it has been somewhere between 1-2# of meat total (not much of a measurer).
I have noticed my sleep is better in some aspects and a lot worse in others. When I was drinking, I would fall asleep easier, but wake up with heartburn, anxiety, a headache, or some combination of hangover symptoms. I do not have any heartburn anymore after the first couple days, but I wake up every hour or so and have a much harder time falling asleep. I think this could be attributed to more than just dietary changes.
I have also noticed my mood is much more stable, notably, I am not as sad. I still feel stress and anger at times, but I don't wake up with a pit of dread and I feel less "hopeless." In fact, I had the motivation to attend a yoga class for the first time in years. The caveat with this is, I live in a rainy/foggy coastal climate, and my mood generally improves around the start of summer.
I have not had any alcohol since starting. I have been drinking a LOT of LaCroix and just plain water, as well as drip coffee, espresso, and green tea (all straight, no milk of any kind). This has certainly been challenging, but I feel that combining my carb and alcohol cravings and addressing them together has so far proven more effective than trying to separate them. I have tried to stop or cut back on drinking many, many times and have not had what I would consider success for many years. The interesting thing is, I'm not experiencing crazy sugar cravings like I have in the past with quitting drinking. I may also cut back on coffee as I don't feel as sluggish in the morning once I actually get out of bed.
I have lost 7# and some pants I couldn't even get on last week now button up easily. The fat roll on my back is almost gone, and my face looks better (acne is still there, I attribute that to stress and the detox from drinking). My overall body comp has always tended to be a bit musculadense.
This next week (June 8-14), I plan to introduce 48-72 hour fasts in the mix, mostly over weekends when my stress and activity levels are a bit lower. I attempted a 24-hr fast around day 4, and found that I was just so stressed out from work that I couldn't possibly bear the additional stress of not eating. I am trying to get back in tune with my body, I have neglected it for a long time and even put on the weight as a subconscious protection measure...a different topic. I also plan to reintroduce a light weightlifting regimen, I've lifted on and off since my teen athlete days. I might attempt a run or long bike ride as well. I plan to eat more ground beef, as well as bacon, elk steaks, ground bear, pork steaks, and smoked salmon or canned sardines. I think I might try the "gallon of water a day" thing and see how that goes.
The main takeways this week: greatly increased mood and outlook, more optimism rather than pessimism, no heartburn, better digestion, and better mornings.

2023.06.08 23:57 chiptrager Need help with an obscure issue

I want to preface by saying I am not a car guy and at times a moron.
I have a 2005 Lexus es 330. My key fob has been falling apart this past week and the key fob battery (like the electrical internal part that has all the buttons and such) keeps falling out. Today at work it fell out when I wasn’t noticing (I teach elementary school) and it is now completely missing (I still have the keys and the actual frame of the fob, just not the internal part that makes the fob function. I gave up looking for it and went to just drive home planning to switch to my spare key/fob. Well, my car would not start. It turned over but wouldn’t actually start. I figured it was having some type of separate issue and like a dumbass I just tried to start it over and over again for 20 minutes. Eventually the battery just died. To cap things off, my hood also will not pop. After researching I am pretty sure it wasn’t starting because of some type of anti-theft system due to me losing the fob. I am now getting towed home. I have a few questions:
Is this lost key fob/anti-theft system hypothesis actually why the car isn’t starting?
Is my hood not popping some type of anti-theft system as well or is this just a coincidence?
I do have a spare key at home with a key fob, will using this disengage the anti-theft system?
If not, wtf do I do? The hood will not pop so I can’t jump it at home. I’d prefer not to take it to the dealer if the issue is simply my own stupidity. Thanks in advance!!
