2023.06.02 21:15 padava4 Improvements to the 1200[new] build if I can stretch to 1500 for ultra-wide monitor

>**What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.**
Mainly iRacing on a 49inch samsung monitor
>**What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?**
>**When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.**
THis week
>**What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc\)**
Everything except, monitor, keyboard and mouse
>**Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?**
I have access to microcenter location
>**If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.**
>**Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?**
>**Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)**
A larger storage will be nice
>**Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?**
>**Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?**
Yes and No
I was looking at the 1200[new] build as I have a wide monitor and wanted to see given that i have a microscenter close by if i can improve that build and make it more extendable for the future If i can extend to $1500 with out getting to $1650

2023.06.02 21:11 extraterresticle_ binding methods for summer heat

I've tried taping with KT tape, it's expensive and a waste bc for me I can never get it too look well, with out it hurting and pulling my akin, only for sweat or water to make it useless less than 24 hours later.
traditional binder works best but still socks lmao, uniboob moment, also it's hot as and traps heat and sweat. started getting a rash last year that took months to get rid of, don't want again.
now that I'm starting wear stuff thay fits better, I'm beginning to feel more confident 3 months on T, but it's getting hot again, and I live in the ar.pit of Texas where summers can be upwards of 90-100+ degrees for 4 months straight, humid, and even hot at night.
plus side is T has definitely caused my chest to lose elasticity and make everything more maliable, bad news is I still ha e plenty there. Last time I checked over 5 years ago I was a 36DD and not much has changed since then.
I'm considering one of this black Nike sports bras? I want something that'll flatten but be comfortable and if doable be something that doesn't show to badly under my clothes.
any advice is worth noting, I'll try just about anything twice.
most days I normally just don't bind but since T I've been getting more and more dysphpric about my feminine attributes as my masculine ones are coming in, it's getting harder to ignore and want something reliable for days it's impossible to ignore. thank you :]

2023.06.02 21:10 OrpheusShesha Early tier list of the Casino items, based on how effective they all sound

Haven't gotten all of them yet, but with enough persistance and luck, it won't be too difficult.
Best: Crooked Staff
+1 additional minion level whenever they finish a mission. Shouldn't need to say why this is so good. Also, only costs 80 chips, so if you just get lucky, a few weeks is all the grind should take at most.
Great tier: Ring of Luck, VIP Pass.
Ring of luck boosts spawn rate and rarity / value of armoury items (Shields i believe) which is very good, and VIP pass speeds up the process of getting everything else.
Ok tier: Reptile Eyes, Gold Dice, Soul Bomb.
Reptile eyes can make giant trap and crafting a new helmet chest, and the other two... a cps and soul boost is never bad.
Meh tier: Beast Claws, Miner Kit.
Beast claws give +10% melee damage to giants... which isn't that much, and Miner kit is good if you need to get sapphires (+2% spawn rate), but hardly any more use.
Advise first saving up for the Crooked staff, since it'll get you minon levels (and therefore divinity points) twice as fast, then VIP pass and Ring of Luck, then everything else.

2023.06.02 21:06 jhoff909 ants

I'm getting ants making a nest basically where the cover seals to the tub - any suggestions on how to deal with them? They're the small sugar ants that are VERY common to Seattle and I find the Terro traps (borax / sugar) work well for them. You have to find a spot to put them in the ant trail tho which can be difficult to find.

2023.06.02 21:01 9p83fhsa312 WARNING: Midjourney – Scam Practices, Lack of Subscription Cancellation Options, and Potential Credit Card Misuse!

I'm compelled to share an update on my experiences with Midjourney, focusing on their questionable practices and a worrying incident involving potential misuse of credit card information. I hope to raise awareness and safeguard others from falling victim to these disconcerting issues.
Midjourney's lack of transparency regarding subscription cancellation is particularly concerning. Without any warning, they removed the cancellation option from their platform, essentially trapping users into indefinite payments. This dubious tactic, along with the absence of any official customer support email address, is not just suspicious, but disturbingly unethical.
Further deepening my concerns, I recently discovered unauthorized charges on my credit card statement. I exercise stringent control over my financial data, using my credit card exclusively online and normally through secure payment systems, notably Apple Pay. I maintain no other online subscriptions except for Midjourney. Given this limited exposure, it was disconcerting to find unexpected charges and it led me to suspect potential misuse of my credit card details by Midjourney – an alarming addition to their list of dubious practices.
In response to these unacceptable actions, I will report Midjourney to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU-GDPR) authorities, as their actions violates the laws of EU-GDPR.
Given these experiences, I urge all users of Midjourney to stay vigilant. Monitor your accounts for any unusual activity, and immediately contact your bank if you spot any unauthorized charges. If you've encountered similar issues, or have any insights about Midjourney, please share them in the comments. Together, we can challenge and expose such unethical behavior.
Furthermore, if you are a user of Midjourney and have faced similar issues, I strongly recommend reporting the company to the relevant authorities. It's crucial we ensure that companies like these are held accountable for their actions! There should be zero tolerance!
It's truly unbelievable how a company that offers such a seemingly high-quality AI picture generator feels the need to scam its users

2023.06.02 20:57 Simon_Drake Travelling through the fourth dimension as a form of magic

It's a common concept to consider fourth dimensions of space with a comparison to a 2-dimensional being that is shocked and amazed at our ability to travel through a mysterious 'third' dimension that they can't perceive. Flatland is the classic reference material. Just as moving through a third dimension is magical to a 2-dimensional being, a creature with access to a 4th spacial dimension would seem like magic to us.
So from the perspective of a 3-dimensional being, what magic powers would a being with access to a 4th spacial dimension have?
  1. Circumvent (seemingly) impassable barriers
  2. Travel across (seemingly) vast distances almost instantaneously
  3. (Seemingly) vanish from sight and touch like a ghost
  4. Move/retrieve objects to/from (seemingly) thin-air
  5. Seeing things that should be impossible to see like internal organs
However, I think these abilities would be depend on the context and the location, not things you could use wherever and whenever you want. I don't want to labour the metaphor too much because it's been repeated so many times but imagine an ant on a sheet of paper being blocked by a wall of ant-poison granules, then imagine a grasshopper alongside the ant that can jump over the impassable barrier. But now imagine the ant and grasshopper are trapped under a glass bowl by some naughty child. "Mr Grasshopper, there is an impassable barrier of glass just like the impassable barrier of poison, why don't you use your mighty legs to jump over the barrier as you did before?". The two situations aren't the same, the grasshopper obviously can't just jump over the glass wall because it's a full dome enclosing them, but the ant doesn't know that.
Or imagine an ant on a coiled garden hose. Two points on the coil of hose are very far apart for the ant but a short distance for the grasshopper that can pass between loops. Now the ant crawls along a long straight portion of the hose laid out along the garden path and finds a blob of ice cream that happened to fall on the hose. "Mr Grasshopper, use your ability to pass between distant parts of the hose to go tell the other ants what I have found!". Except it can't. The grasshopper can pass between loops when the hose is coiled up but the ant has no idea that the region he's on is free from coils and the same trick won't work.
So lets imagine a 4th Dimensional Aware Mage and a regular 3D person in a prison cell. Can the 4D person escape the sealed prison cell? It depends on what the landscape looks like in the fourth dimension. Maybe the walls are passable in the fourth dimension but maybe they're not. Maybe Northtown and Farlandia are near each other if you could step through the fourth dimension but maybe they're still really far apart and fourth dimensional travel doesn't help you.
I think this applies to all the 4D powers listed above. A fly could avoid a ground-based hazard by flying but certain hazards like fire would continue into the 3rd dimension and still hurt it. A guard comes to check the prison cell and the 4D mage vanishes (from a 3D perspective), the guard smiles and draws out a tazer. He shoots the tazer through the empty space where the 4D mage was and the barbs dig into the wall behind him. Then he activates the electric current of the tazer and the 4D mage reappears exactly where he was before but now he's being electrocuted. He didn't really vanish, he can't really leave the cell.
BUT the exact same circumstances in a different prison cell could have gone differently. If this cell had been full of regular criminals and they were locked in the East Wing, then these cells are different and you CAN escape by going around the walls in the 4th Dimension.
Which is kinda narratively unsatisfying. The audience will have a 3D perspective and even knowing that 4D capabilities are possible we won't know which 4D capabilities will be available in any given situation. That makes the powers almost a Deus Ex Machina or an unsatisfying cop-out, like how many Star Trek episodes there "electromagnetic interference in the upper ionosphere" preventing them using the transporters to resolve the plot. The characters can or cannot use their powers based entirely on the whims of the writer to contrive a situation is one direction or the other, and audiences will have no way to predict it. The heroes are threatened with a special 4D-gun and locked in a prison cell. Can they escape effortlessly when the guard's back is turned? Are they trapped and will need to wait for rescue? There's no way to know. Is there narrative tension or are our heroes just pretending to be trapped? Flip a coin and wait to see if they Deus Ex Machina powers let them escape effortlessly.
The powers are so powerful I feel they'd be deliberately hobbled in most situations to create tension. Like the "ionosphere is blocking the transporters" trope. The Star Trek writers have even said they kinda regret the invention of the transporters and replicators because they undermine most narrative issues, you can't have famine or scarcity in a world with replicators unless you handwave "oh this planet has rocks that like block the energy of the replicators or something". So yeah, 4D powers are kinda tough.

2023.06.02 20:57 satan_little_helper Wine Corks: A good alternative to Chewies

I’ve seen this mentioned in a couple of comments but I don’t think anyone has posted about them: Wine corks make excellent Chewies! I popped a bottle of Prosecco yesterday to make some mimosa and decided to pop the cork in after I’d done my routine. Worked like a dream.
If you don’t want to spend the money and have a wine/wine cork collection to rival Kristen Bell’s bowl in The Woman in the House Across from the Girl in the Window, USE THEM!!
If you can find a way to safely cut them down to a more manageable size, even better. I just bit down on one end and hold the other with my hand and it’s a great alternative of reusing something I will already have on had, while also saving me the $0.02 it costs to order them online. But that’ll just go to supporting my wine fund!

2023.06.02 20:54 Loyalty-Test Seeking Closure and Support: Why I created a loyalty testing website.

Hello everyone,
I hope you're all doing well. Today, I wanted to open up and share my personal journey that led to the creation of It's a website born out of my own painful experiences, and by posting here maybe it will help/inform others who have faced similar struggles.
Let me take you back to a time when I was in a verbally abusive relationship, and unknowingly to me my partner was also cheating. The emotional toll it took on me was immense. I constantly questioned myself, wondering if I was overreacting or being paranoid. The lack of tangible proof made it incredibly challenging to confront the reality of the situation.
It's important to understand that this service isn't about encouraging deception or playing games with someone's emotions. It's about providing individuals, like me, with an opportunity to find closure and make informed decisions. offers a discreet platform where you can hire experienced testers who engage with your partner in a controlled and respectful manner.
I know that some may view this as controversial, and I completely understand those concerns. Ethics and respect are paramount in our approach. Prioritizing open communication, consent, and transparency. We respect boundaries and aim to foster healthy communication throughout the process.
The benefits of using this service are multi-faceted. For those who find themselves trapped in a cycle of doubt and uncertainty, it can bring much-needed clarity. It can provide validation to those who have been questioning their intuition, offering a sense of relief and closure. Sometimes, having that tangible evidence can be the catalyst for making difficult but necessary decisions.
I want to stress that this is not a solution for everyone, nor should it replace open and honest communication in a relationship. It's crucial to consider the unique dynamics of your own situation before taking any action. Relationships are complex, and trust is something that should be nurtured and cherished.
However, for those who have exhausted all other options and are desperate for answers, may provide a path forward. It's a tool that aims to empower individuals to take control of their lives, heal from past wounds, and move towards healthier and more fulfilling relationships.
I share this with you all in the hope of fostering a supportive and understanding community. Let's engage in a respectful dialogue, sharing our thoughts and experiences while acknowledging that everyone's journey is different.
Remember, you are not alone, and there is support available. Reach out to friends, family, or professionals who can provide guidance and empathy during challenging times.

2023.06.02 20:52 _uneven_compromise Long feedback & suggestions post after 500 hours

My feedback after ~500hrs, #71 on leaderboards atm. 5k hours in Tarkov if that matters to anyone. :')
1. Queue system changes:
After the queue system changes half of my games are empty, rest of them have 1 or 2 teams. Space combat is completely dead, I either spawn first and see no ships/one ship at the other end of the map or I spawn in late and everyone is in POIs already. I can bring biggest ships solo with no fear of being shot down before I make it into the raid. Having to wait 3-5 minutes to get into a PvE game really ruins it for me.
2. Ship guns opinions and suggestions:
Flak is above everything else after the buff, and the fact that it's on the smallest and cheapest available chassis makes other ships kind of useless (for space combat, disregarding ship stash size). All of the other ship guns are too weak, I'd rather have the default 100mm cannon instead of anything that's not flak, rocket artillery or torpedoes.
- Flak Cannon - Revert range buff, or halve the current range and lower the dmg by 20. With lowered damage (assuming you can hit every shot which is easy with Flak) it would still destroy Scouts and Interceptors with 1 reload, Heavies with 2 and Capitals with 3, but wouldn't kill people inside ships as fast as it does now.
- Dual 25mm - The gun is easy to use, has decent projectile speed, but the reload speed makes it way worse than the default 100m. Halving the reload speed would double the dps in longer fights making it have 15 more dps including reload than the rustbucket cannon which I feel would be fair. Buff the reload speed to 3s, or 4 if it turns out to be too strong.
- 75mm turret is the worst ship gun right now. Has 0 AoE even though visually the explosion is quite big, deals no damage, has very slow projectile. Buff it to 100 (or even 125), give it 3m AoE and make the projectile as fast as the 100mm one. It would still have lower overall dps than the 100m but would have decent consistent dps if you could hit the shots.
- Triple Turret has very good stats, but slow projectile makes it meh compared to other options. Buff the projectile speed so it's the same as 100mm projectile. Maybe reduce the dmg to 200 if it turns out to be too strong.
- Rocket Artillery - The only ship gun that's good without being OP. Leave as it is.
- Dual Rocket - Buff damage to 100, or even 125. Would have overall slightly less dps than 100mm turret, but stronger burst dps.
- Torpedo launcher - A very specific gun that's both OP and useless depending on the situation. It's the only ship gun that can consistently kill people before they get to the pods if they're not spamming large medkits. I'd say leave as it is for meme value, but could be buffed to dual rocket projectile speed with lowered damage. Dual Rockets would need a projectile speed buff though.
- Howitzer - Look how they massacred my boy. It was the most satisfying ship gun in game. Revert the nerf, buff damage back to 250.
- Nuclear Launcher - Good as it is.
I'd also suggest making an actual turret gunner view using the port camera 'overlay' with some basic HUD and a crosshair, locating the view on the top of the gun turret. The camera bugs out with certain guns making it unable to see where you're aiming because the turret model gets in the way, especially on the new ship guns.
Most of the ship guns don't hit exactly where you aim, the biggest culprit being the Strike Frigate. I feel that issue turns many people away from ship combat or running something else than a Rustbucket. Making the guns hit where the crosshair is would be a huge QoL change.
3. Ship customization:
I really don't like that a feature got completely removed from the game. It was fun running/running into weird builds and trying stuff out.
Ship customization could also be the solution to the 'breaching problem' for people who complain about getting breached right at the start of the game - there could be a 'breaching armor' customization option that would reduce the speed of the ship by a decent margin while disallowing being breached before the ship is destroyed. You could be safe from instant breaching at the cost of being an easy target or being the last ship docking into POI.
Could also allow other options - buying lighter armor so your ship is faster with a downside of being destroyed easier, or armor that's weak to certain weapon types (normal projectiles, flak, rockets/torpedoes) and strong vs. others. Would have to be represented visually on the ships in some way.
Some customization could be also balanced by allowing different gun types with certain customizations, eg. light turret guns - 100mm, 75mm, dual 25mm, dual rockets, rocket artillery, maybe flak. Heavy turret guns - Triple turret, howitzer, torpedo launcher, nuclear launcher. If you want to bring a big stash and good armor - you can't use heavy turrets because there isn't enough poweroom in the ship to run it all. Bigger ships could have more room/power to use more customizations at the same time.
Current ship variants could be sold as chassis with the default 100mm cannon with option to upgrade them as before the UA patch.
Unlocking better ship chassis in shop could be an option, so when you start you can only buy scouts, then you pay to unlock interceptors and so on.
No level requirements, so if someone wants to focus strictly on space combat could just grind the money and buy whatever they want. All of it would also be a money sink to be able to do something with all the money which is very easy to get and would allow to change focus while prestiging - eg. on my first prestige I focus on in-raid stuff, then on the second one on space combat to switch things up a bit.
4. Gameplay issues:
- After recent hitreg changes the torso hurtbox while someone is ADSing is too big and covers the head. It requires me to aim at the top of the head to land a shot that's not tanked by arms, which results in the gun covering most of the model so if the opponent crouches or moves I can't see it.
- Breaching spawns, one of the biggest problems for me. I hate dying right after breaching Merchant just because someone spawned right behind me and it feels equally shitty when I get a free kill because I spawned right behind someone. Add a simple check if a player is near a breaching spawn and spawn the next player somewhere else. I understand that sometimes there may be too many players but if that happens less often it wouldn't be as annoying.
- Being able to operate airlock doors manually. It's irritating that I have to go through the locking/unlocking animation just to access the ship stash. Let me leave the door open, use the ship stash then close it. Same goes for airlock camping, I don't really have a problem with that in general, I understand that it might be a 'balance' decision but just sitting there without being able to close the door feels... Illogical? Maybe add a 30s cooldown for the outside door, the current one is way too punishing especially when people camping the airlock still have huge advantage.
- Change the handling of mouse input. No idea why it isn't just raw input, mouse smoothing/acceleration is a bad thing in any FPS game period.
- Make the UI sound slider lower the sounds of picking up stuff/crafting in the inventory, no idea why it's tied to effects volume. Scrapping machetes hurts with high volume on headphones.
- Equipping and throwing grenades could be a bit faster and automatically switching to the last used weapon after throwing one would be a nice QoL feature.
- Fall damage, one of the weirdest things in the game - jumping over the railing on the rustbucket stairs takes 3% of the hp while dropping all the way down from high command on Navy deals maybe 15%. Make the players not take damage when jumping from low height but increase the damage while jumping from bigger heights.
- Crafting time should be reduced to 0 or increased so you have to wait and plan ahead for crafting bigger items. Right now it's just a minor annoyance where I have to alt-tab for 2 minutes while waiting for a ship to craft. If crafting times would be increased allow us to get more crafting slots in some way. I'd rather have instant crafting though because the fact that preparing for a game is super fast compared to other games in the genre is a definite plus.
- Add situational spawn triggers? I know AI isn't much of a problem in this game and is probably worked on, but having AI spawn while doing certain things on map like opening a Vault/Depot, accesing some areas (High Command) would be a cool thing. But maybe I'm biased because my games are very empty lately.
- Stash management - It would be nice to be able to CTRL click items both ways, but I guess it's going to be polished out later after adding content and more core stuff into the game.
  1. Guns balance suggestions/opinions:
- Bring back the AP mine oneshot and disable the red light. They're hard to get and there's not many situations where it's guaranteed someone will walk into one. Make them deal decent damage to the ship if detonated onboard or make the breaching destroy them before the player spawns.
- Buff Viper. It's a rare weapon that's really cool, but the only way to kill someone with a Sten is to land headshots and Viper doesn't allow you to do it easily. Allow us to put Sten attachments on them at least.
- Buff shotgun spread, the recent change ruined them completely. Revert the change, I know adsing to reduce spread isn't realistic but is a decent solution for them to not suck and be usable at the same time without people running and gunning with the all the time.
- Make the body of the M16 scope smaller, it covers too much of the screen to be usable. The reticle could also be smaller. SVT scope sensitivity issue is probably known to the devs already so I'm hoping it will be fixed too.
6. ZTH:
Unpopular opinion, but ZTH is ok as it is. I was also pissed off at the POIs not appearing, SAS Captains/Commando Majors not spawning and other RNG things, but it's the only long-term goal along trader levels in the game right now so not being able to rush through it is fine by me. I switched to just playing the game regardless of having ZTH targets on the map and doing them if I get blessed by the RNG gods.
7. POIs and suggestion about getting the POI that you want:
Terraformer and Prison are both great maps that are mostly ignored by the players. I'm afraid that after adding soloqueue they will be even emptier because the playerbase will be divided into 2 parts.
What if players were able to unlock and craft coordinates that allow to get into a specific POI - You could find disk drives/CDs/floppy discs/whatever in the computers, then pay a large amount of money to allow one time entry to a specific POI. I know that Asteroid Mine would probably be full every raid, but if some people would want to have a calm raid they would select Prison or Terra, and if enough people decide to do that sudeenly you got a raid with some people and action in it. Also less players would leave just because they didn't get the POI they want. Would work even better if all raids would be a single POI raid. The idea obviously requires more refinement. There could also be a bonus for going into a raid without coordinates like +10% exp for going random.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk, sorry for any errors, English isn't my primary language.
The game is great, I love how SIG managed to get what's fun about extraction shooters and create a fun and unique experience that's also approachable for a casual player. I hope it'll get as much traction as it deserves and become a success after release.
Also devs hit me up if you need QA help - I got 10 years of QA experience and have some free time right now.

2023.06.02 20:52 gorgonzola2104 Mass Effect 2 Insanity Run Advice: Harbinger Strikes Back

This post is part of a series with advice for Insanity runs across all three Mass Effect: Legendary Edition games. Here are the links to the other posts:
Main Post
Mass Effect 1: A New Spectre
Mass Effect 3: Return of the Commander
Many a guide claimed this was the easiest of the three Mass Effects on Insanity. I had a very different experience. This game was slow, punishing, and nearly controller-throwing tier frustrating in some places.
ME2’s combat centers on dealing with four different flavors of health bar (red health, blue shields, yellow armor, and purple barrier). Insanity difficulty adds an additional one of these health bars to all enemies, as well as rocketing their damage output and ability use to the moon. You will be behind cover, waiting for cooldowns to expire and ensuring that your 12 disciples don’t wander into the line of fire like toddlers who found a shiny rock in the middle of the Autobahn.
The blood-soaked cherry on top of the pain-flavored cake called Mass Effect 2 Insanity was the Collector Ship mission. This mission activates after Horizon as soon as you have eight squadmates, have completed five side missions, and are on the Normandy (accounts differ about the exact parameters of the timer). Once the mission activates, you have no choice but to run it. If you and your squad are not ready, you will experience true suffering once the Collectors spring their trap and ambush you. Beware, the Collector Ship! Garrus and Grunt got the job done after I restarted the mission having gotten the butts of Shepard, Garrus, and Miranda handed to me by the Collectors on a silver platter.
Shepard’s Build: The guides I read overwhelmingly recommended changing Shepard’s class to Sentinel. Some others suggested Soldier, but their advice addressed the same principle. Shepard needs to be able to deal with each of the different types of health bar. I chose Sentinel and did not regret it.
Sentinel’s abilities set Shepard up to peel away all types of health bar with the added bonus of being able to bolster defenses at the press of a button with Tech Armor. At first, I chose Warp Ammo as my bonus power but later swapped it for Energy Drain which worked much better. I fully upgraded Defender (evolved to Guardian), Warp (evolved into Heavy Warp), Throw (evolved into Throw Field), and Energy Drain (evolved into Heavy Energy Drain). Why Energy Drain when Sentinel already has access to Overload? Because absorbing enemy shields to bolster my own defenses was a godsend of survivability.
As soon as I could give Shepard Sniper Rifle training again and put the Viper in their hands, I started enjoying the gunplay of the game. The SMGs and Pistols never seemed to put out enough damage to justify breaking cover when I could throw out another power. If those weapon types are your thing, get the Locust SMG from Kasumi’s loyalty mission and the Phalanx Pistol from the gun shop on Tuchanka ASAP.
Lastly, pick armor pieces that support your mission tactics. In general, I preferred anything that made Shepard’s shields come back faster. For main missions, I’d break out the heavy weapons and armor that gave more heavy weapon ammo. For the final mission, this let me bring in a Cain with 200% power (two shots); very handy in cleaning up the final mission very quickly.
Squadmates: Squadmate selection goes back to dealing with as many health bar flavors as effectively as possible. This made Miranda a top pick since she has both Overload and Warp. Garrus was another favorite with Overload, Armor-Piercing Ammo, and Concussive Shot. had great build advice for all of Shepard’s squadmates. In general, they will evolve their powers into their area of effect versions to complement Sentinel Shepard’s single target power-focus build.
Absolutely do all of your squadmates’ loyalty missions and spec them out with the best gear you can get your hands on.

2023.06.02 20:47 Scan-of-the-Month YSK We CT scanned a fig. Figs are actually pollinated by wasps that climb inside, lay eggs, and then get digested by the fig. The male larvae also fertilize their sisters ...

Why YSK: If you eat a certain type of wild fig, there is a chance that a wasp has been inside of it.
Have you ever noticed that fig trees don’t flower? That’s because a fig isn’t (just) a fruit; it’s a sphere of inward-facing flowers, or syconium. Its existence hinges on a complex, codependent relationship with a specific wasp species. The female wasp enters the fig through a small hole, the ostiole, laying eggs and simultaneously pollinating the fig’s flowers. With a CT scanner, we can zero in on each stage in this fascinating example of symbiosis.
The female wasp’s journey begins as it makes its way into an unripe fig through the ostiole, a tiny hole at the bottom — barely visible to the naked eye. It’s a tight squeeze, and the wasp’s wings and antennae get ripped off as it travels through the ostiole, trapping it inside the fig for the complex reproductive dance that follows.
Once inside, the wasp lays its eggs within some of the fig’s flowers housed in the syconium, inadvertently pollinating other flowers in the process. The pollinator wasp dies soon after, and a powerful enzyme inside the fig digests its body.
The story comes full circle when the larvae hatch. Male wasps emerge first, fertilize the females that haven’t hatched yet, and then bore tiny escape tunnels into the fig’s wall. Having completed their task, they die. When the females hatch, they collect pollen from the now-mature flowers before escaping through their mates’ tunnels. They then take flight to find a new fig and begin the process all over again.

2023.06.02 20:47 livepokertheory Doug Polk Bluffs Into Tom Dwan's Boat - Piosolver Analysis

Doug Polk Bluffs Into Tom Dwan's Boat - Piosolver Analysis
My post looking at the LSG Hank vs Doug Polk bluff was well received , big thanks for the many kind words. Some people asked me to look at Doug’s bluff that ran into Dwan’s boat. I was also curious about this hand, especially from Dwan’s perspective as both the turn and the river seemed tricky and on the river Dwan was accused of running a nitroll against Doug, so I was especially curious to see what the solver does when deciding between call and jam with a middle full house facing a huge river overbet.
I’m happy to read feedback and criticisms around configurations, that’s why I’m sharing it. I don’t believe there is one final truth and half the fun is seeing how different assumptions change things. I also don’t believe that just because a solver plays a certain way implies it’s the one true and correct way to play. There are so many assumptions necessary, many of them will be wrong, compounded even more in a live setting with lots of live reads and dynamics like the standup game.
There’s a saying in stats/modeling, “all models are wrong, some are useful” which I think is very applicable to solver study.
This hand in particular was very sensitive to configuration, especially from Doug’s point of view where for all three streets, his decision depends a lot on the specific ranges they’re playing and bet sizing allowed.

Hand Summary

Quick hand summary, with 1M effective, Doug raises to 3k from the CO with 54s of spades. Dwan 3bets 77 to 14k from the SB, Doug calls. Flop is Kd7d2s, Dwan flops middle set, neither player has a diamond but Doug has backdoor spade draw. Dwan bets 15k (half pot), Doug calls, turn Doug picks up an open ended straight draw with the 6 of hearts. Dwan bets half pot again of 30k, Doug makes a pot-sized raise to 120k, Dwan tank-calls. River pairs the board with the 6 of spades, Dwan checks, overbets 420k with 5 high, Dwan tanks with his boat and another 600k effective behind but just calls. You can watch it here.

Note On Live Reads

Even though I mostly focus on solver work I wanted to quickly share my opinions on live reads. I think Doug did himself a disservice talking up how he was “coming to battle”. Dwan was the big winner of the night and he made almost all of his money with check-call lines. I think Doug wanted to impress fans, Wes wanted to shake the nit reputation, and both of them had reasonable hands to bluff with but also reasonable hands to slow down with with and they both went with the more aggro line and I suspect Dwan was ready for that to happen.
In this hand Wes also saw Doug’s hand and said “I like that hand” which sounds like something someone would say for a cute suited connector, not pocket Kings. Doug wants to shake the image of a try-hard pro and be a fun business guy who's good for the game but he may have paid a price to do that in this game.
Dwan is not a solver player but he's an extremely analytical players who understands how to beat "the meta" and I think he had both individual live reads in this session but also some ideas on how to adjust to the general attitudes of the players coming into this game.

The Ranges

Dwan 3bet from the SB so we are giving him a wide range with all the good hands plus lots of suited big cards, and some suited connectors some offsuit broadways.

Doug just calls in position, he was ready to battle plus standup may be on so we give him all the pairs, most suited connectors and some suited one-gappers, lots of broadway hand and some suited gappers.
I gave Doug 10% KK but I have such a hard time imagining ever flatting KK here. Of course KK ends up being a highly relevant combo later in the hand.

The Flop

On the flop Dwan is checking about half the time and betting about half the time, the smaller sizing is preferred by the solver. His sets of sevens leans towards preferring a bet as plenty of top pair and flush draws can call it, and Dwan does bet it.
Doug’s response here I found to be highly sensitive to the specific ranges and bet sizes we allow. In almost all of them, fold, call, or raise are all reasonable options (appropriate for Doug).
In my favorite configuration, he mostly just calls. Some people are really surprised by these loose flop calls. There’s two things people are missing. First, if you give up to small flop bets too easily, you can be run over since they have way too good a price to just bluff with any two cards. This is part of the reason small bets are so effective live is many players don’t know how to adjust against different bet sizes.
The other big factor to consider is that when you’re super deep, it matters less if you have a strong hand now and more if you will have a very strong hand on the river. If Doug made a sneaky backdoor straight against Dwan’s set, he could have coolered him for a massive pot.

The Turn - Doug's Decision to Bluff Raise

On the turn, Dwan is again mixing mostly bets and checks and his sevens is a that hand can go either way. The point of checking is mostly because you have a lot of one pair of Kings weak kicker, that want to get to showdown. To protect those hands from being bluffed, you check-raise some sets. Dwan decided to lead again for half pot though. The solver does size up more often but half pot is ok and the same EV.
For Doug, once again I want to emphasize this spot is highly sensitive to configuration but in the one I thought was best, his open ended is a pure call and his combo draw is a raise.
Doug already has a lot of bluffs with diamond draws. However if you only bluff with flush draws, you have no bluffs on a flush-completing river so, I originally thought his raise makes sense. But, he also needs some bluffs on diamond river when he just calls. For raising on this turn as a bluff, most of the bluffs that piosolver likes are actually turning a mid-pair 7 into a bluff with hands like 87 and 97, which do block 77 and Dwan’s good straight draws. Pio also bluffs with pair + flush draw hands (which turns out to be relevant for Dwan's river deisions).
Doug also just calls with some diamonds draw with the good price , so 54 of spades can be a river bluff after a just-call when the diamonds arrive.
Overall, I think Doug has plenty of bluffs on this turn and this was not the ideal combo choice since there were better options and it plays fine as a just-call.
Again, a lot of subtle details can effect the mechanics of the solver’s favorite combos to bluff with. So I’m not saying was wrong to raise here. But, he has a really strong, sneaky draw and if he just calls and hits a gin straight on the river, it would be really hard for Dwan to not pay Doug off. Dwan also gave Doug good enough odds to just call. But instead of taking a good price for a river card, he bloated the pot while still a big dog. So I do think there’s better combos to bluff with and I agree with piosolver this is better as a call.
Either way, Dwan has to decide whether to slowplay and let Doug keep bluffing on river, or to raise now and price out Doug’s draws. The solver mostly just calls. My interpretation is that Dwan has a lot of bluff catchers like AA, KQ here and by calling with sets you protect your one pair hands against river bluffs. Because the solver almost never raises any hand here.
It's interesting to me that the solver never wants to protect its hands against all the draws, but I think Doug's sizing is just so big, and Dwan has so many good one pair hands and so few sets, that Dwan has a strong incentive to work the sets into the call line to protect the one pair hands from the river bluffs.

The River

Now to the fun part of the hand. Dwan has a pure check on the river with mostly bluffcatchers and some traps.
The river 6s is also a much better card for Doug’s range who is raising the 76, 77, and 66 a lot on the turn. Now given Dwan’s exact hand Doug can never have any 76s or 77 here, but I’m speaking range vs range, Dwan is pure checking. Doug has a full house on this river a whopping 21% of the time vs 10% of the time for Dwan.
Now because the solver pure calls on the turn with Doug’s 54 of spades, he doesn’t have it on the river in this configuration so we don’t know if he should bluff with it. However, having played with various configurations, every single time Doug does have this hand he pure bets river with it, mostly big sizing or all in. He has 5 high, he’s bottom of range, he matches hands like 65s, it’s close to a mandatory bluff unless you have a read on reasons not to So while I don't like the turn raise, I do think once this turn raise was put in, you have to go for it on river so credit to Doug for doing so.
Now onto the big question of Dwan’s tank. I think part of the reason people thought he might be nitrolling was Dwan’s body language became very negative, which I think was interpreted as considering a fold when really he was frustrated between deciding between a call and a raise.
I watched the hand live, and while I see the merits of a jam, it seemed like an easy just-call because Doug was so polarized with the big turn raise and big river overbet, it’s not worth jamming into quad 6s for a huge amount of money. However, in every configuration I looked at the solver pure jams so Dwan was right to think about it.
One incredibly important thing to note is that it’s extremely hard for Doug to have KK. I personally think Doug’s always 4-betting it pre. But even if you give it to him, piosolver actually never makes the turn raise with Kings in Doug's spot. Instead he slowplays it. Why? Because KK is such a strong hand and they’re so deep it’s a great hand to slowplay and try to cooler a bottom set or two pair, or try to cooler a flush with a boat. Plus you block your opponent's top pair calls.
Both the Hank vs Dwan hand and the Doug vs Dwan hand have boards where there just wasn’t that much going on, it’s difficult for players to be nutted, so you want to make sure you have the nuts in various lines, especially so you can end up on the river coolering them. That’s a key aspect of deep stack play and part of the reason some flop strategies seem loose compared to 100BB.
Now if Doug did slowplay KK pre, does he fast play it on turn trying to get money in vs draws? I suppose it’s possible, but overall, Doug does not have much KK. He also doesn’t have much 66, not only is it one combo but 66 sometimes slowplays the turn as well meaning by river its less than one combo.
But of course Doug does have 22, maybe K6s, and even some plain trips that had a pair and flush draw on the turn that became trips on the river. Trips are supposed to bet for value against Dwan's one pair hands, and then sometimes call off vs a raise, otherwise Dwan can run him over with check-raise bluffs. Now, does even durrr himself have the balls to check-raise this river with a bluff at the correct frequency? If not, can Doug fold trip 6s, maybe his underboats, in which case there's mimimal value in Dwan jamming. It’s really hard to say. That’s why it’s a genuinely extremely difficult spot for Dwan and not a nitroll. Sure , a call is “safe”, but if Doug has 22 Dwan might be leaving half a million on the table by not jamming.
Final verdict: not a nitroll. Mostly well-played by both players, though Doug probably could have simplified his life by just calling turn and hoping to get there, and Dwan probably should have jammed river but it's hard to fault him for not doing so.
Again, if you like this content check out my blog , I'm focusing on mostly blogging about solvers and live poker, but I'll be headed to Vegas next week for my first ever WSOP to play 1500 6-max, 2500 freezeout, then the main event in July so I'll probably write trip reports for those tournaments.

Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
Extra info or particulars:
I have a hardline network, so wifi is fine to have if built in but not necessary. I am not a master builder. I have made 5 pcs so I know kinda what I am doing but a super complex build might be out of my reach. I don't care how big the tower is. I am not trying to save space. I would very much prefer intel, I am replacing an AMD machine that crashes all the time. If there is an internal memory card slot that might be nice. One that can handle sd cards. I have an external but it cleans up the desk a bit.

2 cans (6 ounces) tomato paste
2 cans (15 ounces) tomato sauce
2 teaspoons dried basil
2 teaspoons dried oregano
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
12 lasagna noodles
3 cups ricotta cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
1 egg, lightly beaten
Before you start assembling your lasagna, it’s essential to prepare all the ingredients. This will ensure a smooth cooking process and help you stay organized. Follow these steps:
Chop the onion and mince the garlic.
In a large skillet, heat some olive oil over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until they become translucent and fragrant.
Remove the casings from the Italian sausage.
In the same skillet, add the ground beef and Italian sausage. Break up the meat into small pieces using a wooden spoon and cook until browned and cooked through.
Drain any excess grease from the skillet.
Making the Meat Sauce
The meat sauce is the heart of Paula Deen’s lasagna. It’s rich, flavorful, and packed with savory goodness. Follow these steps to make the meat sauce:
Return the skillet with the cooked meat to medium heat.
Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and tomato sauce to the skillet.
Stir in the dried basil, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
Simmer the sauce for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to let the flavors meld together.
Taste the sauce and adjust the seasonings according to your preference.
Cooking the Lasagna Noodles
Properly cooked lasagna noodles are crucial for achieving the perfect texture in your lasagna. Here’s how you cook them:
Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a boil.
Add a generous amount of salt to the boiling water.
Carefully add the lasagna noodles to the pot and cook them according to the package instructions.
Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
Once the noodles are al dente, drain them and rinse with cold water to stop the cooking process.
Set aside the cooked noodles.
Preparing the Cheese Mixture
The cheese mixture adds creaminess and a luscious texture to Paula Deen’s lasagna. Follow these steps to prepare it:
In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, and lightly beaten egg.
Season the mixture with a pinch of salt and black pepper.
Stir well until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined.
Set the cheese mixture aside until ready to use.
Layering the Lasagna
Now it’s time to assemble the layers of Paula Deen’s lasagna. Follow these steps:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or olive oil.
Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of the baking dish.
Place a layer of cooked lasagna noodles on top of the meat sauce, slightly overlapping them.
Spread a generous amount of the cheese mixture over the noodles, ensuring an even distribution.
Repeat the layers of meat sauce, noodles, and cheese mixture until you run out of ingredients, ending with a layer of meat sauce.
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil, making sure it’s tightly sealed.
Baking and Serving
Now comes the most exciting part—baking and serving the lasagna. Follow these steps for a mouthwatering result:
Place the covered lasagna in the preheated oven.
Bake for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes to allow the top to become golden and bubbly.
Once the lasagna is done, remove it from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes.
Garnish with fresh parsley and grated Parmesan cheese before serving.
Slice the lasagna into portions and serve it while it’s still hot and delicious.
  1. Can I make Paula Deen’s lasagna ahead of time and freeze it?
Absolutely! Paula Deen’s lasagna is a great make-ahead dish. You can assemble the lasagna, cover it tightly with aluminum foil, and freeze it for up to 3 months. When you’re ready to enjoy it, simply thaw it overnight in the refrigerator and bake according to the instructions.
  1. What can I substitute for ground beef in Paula Deen’s lasagna?
If you prefer a different protein or want a vegetarian option, you can substitute the ground beef with ground turkey, ground chicken, or even a mixture of sautéed mushrooms and vegetables. Adjust the seasonings accordingly to complement the flavors of the chosen substitute.
  1. Can I use no-boil lasagna noodles instead of regular ones?
Yes, you can use no-boil lasagna noodles instead of regular ones in Paula Deen’s lasagna recipe. No-boil noodles are a convenient alternative that saves you time and eliminates the need for pre-cooking. Follow the package instructions for layering and baking, as no-boil noodles may require more liquid in the recipe.
  1. Is it necessary to cover the lasagna with foil while baking?
Covering the lasagna with foil during the initial baking period helps to trap moisture and heat, ensuring even cooking and preventing the top from becoming too brown. However, removing the foil in the final stages allows the cheese to melt and develop a golden crust. So, while it’s not necessary, it’s recommended for the best results.
  1. Can I add vegetables to Paula Deen’s lasagna?
Certainly! Adding vegetables to your lasagna is a fantastic way to enhance the flavor and nutritional value. You can incorporate sautéed spinach, diced bell peppers, zucchini, or mushrooms into the meat sauce or layer them between the noodles and cheese mixture. Just make sure to cook the vegetables before adding them to ensure they are tender.
  1. How long does Paula Deen’s lasagna last in the fridge?
If stored properly in an airtight container, Paula Deen’s lasagna will stay fresh in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Make sure to cool the lasagna completely before refrigerating it. To reheat, cover the lasagna with foil and warm it in a preheated oven until heated through.
Now that you have the ultimate guide on how to make Paula Deen’s lasagna, it’s time to put your cooking skills to the test. With its flavorful meat sauce, creamy cheese mixture, and perfectly layered noodles, this lasagna will undoubtedly become a family favorite. Impress your loved ones with this mouthwatering recipe and enjoy the comforting flavors that Paula Deen’s lasagna has to offer.

2023.06.02 20:38 Wyvern2028 HELP WITH TECHNICAL ISSUE 'This save data was created with a newer version of the game'

HELP WITH TECHNICAL ISSUE 'This save data was created with a newer version of the game'
Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me with an issue I am having with loading my Dragon Age game. I'm sure there are some answers similar to my issue but as I've tried most things I wanted to be super specific.
I purchased Dragon Age: Inquisition through Steam in April. After playing for a while, I decided to install some mods into it thinking that it would be no more difficult to manage than The Sims 4. Oh how wrong I was. I was having issues with being able to load the DLCs The Descent and The Jaws of Hakkon (Hadn't tried Trespasser). Every time I tried to travel there I was met with a black screen, the logo frozen in the corner but still able to move my mouse.
After spending time scouring Reddit forums and google questions, I linked the issue to having mods installed that were not supported in the DLCs. I assumed it would be easy enough to remove the mods and continue to play without them now I had finished the main storyline. I had followed instructions for the installation of DAI Mods and had created some back up patch folders before I began to change anything in the game.
I carefully uninstalled them however now, when I go to load my save, I get the error 'This save data was created with a newer version of the game' (Image attached).
I have tried repairing the game through Steam using the verify files integrity option, as well as uninstalling and redownloading the game several times. There is no option on the EA app to repair it as many suggestions say, as I purchased it through Steam. I have altered the version number in the notes. My patch folder from the mods is not working and neither are the clean patch back ups I had made before.
I spoke with EA technical support and to be honest they were incredibly unhelpful.
EA - I will surely check if I can help you in fixing your Dragon Age: Inquisition issue.
EA - May I know if you have deleted any files while removing mods from Dragon Age: Inquisition?
ME - I may have accidently but no, I do not believe so
EA - I want to inform you that progress in Dragon Age: Inquisition saves offline so we are unable to help you with Dragon Age: Inquisition progress issue.
ME - Ok, thank you. But can you help fix the patch issue?
EA - I can note-down your feedback regarding this issue. If our team will release any such patch then I will let you know via suitable channels.
EA - Is there anything else for me at this moment?
ME - Could you let me know what the current patch number is for Dragon Age Inquisition?
EA - Its in game information that I am unable to share with you. You will get update via in game notification once new patch will get out.
I am feeling very lost and frustrated as what to do now. I have almost 122 hours in it so desperately do not want to lose my save. Obviously I've messed with things beyond my technical expertise and would greatly appreciate any advice if someone has encountered this issue before. Is there a chance of being able to play with my saves or will I have to start all over again?
