It wouldn't bother me much as I don't watch 'TV', but when my lady friend comes to visit, it is a headache. Snort is not lady friend friendly. LOL
EDIT1: Ok I haven't given up but I'm going to place that on hold. I can't seem to get the NetGear router to connect to the VLAN that I set up in pfSense.
As I pointed out earlier, for this scenario I have MODEM > SWITCH > DEVICES
I have the Netgear wireless router hung off of the SWITCH which is pulling an IP of 102.168.1.x. I can get the Roku to work wirelessly, but when I engage Snort, it will eventually block channels such as DirectTV & NewsOn. For some reason, it doesn't affect Netflix.
I have tried:
- Setting up the VLAN in pfSense
- Setting the NetGear to an AP
- A ton of other configurations too numerous to review lol
- Consulting various tuts on the internet
Thanks for all the help so far.
EDIT2: I finally got the VLAN set up and connected. Everything is running smooth and my relationship with my lady friend is still intact. I have read a lot of content, tutorials, etc too many to list but I wanted to leave at least one video for anyone who comes along later searching for a similar solution. It helped me better visualize what I wanted to do:
