I’ve been looking to branch out with different shoes for different runs over the past year and have received some great advice here so I figured I’d post my little problem here in the hopes of finding an answer.
So my current rotation is
The issue I have is with the plated shoe for long runs since I don’t want to break out the Race day shoe for the occasional long run and don’t want the easy pace of the invincibles. Maybe a slightly uptempo run at threshold pace or just below MP every other week for 12-16 miles.
I initially purchased the zoom fly for this purpose but it started hurting my ankle and arch. I figured it was either the plate being too stiff or the recycled zoom x being crappy, so returned it and bought the Deviate Nitro. While I find them marginally better than the ZF5s, I still am sore the rest of the day and the issue hasn’t really resolved. I could do the same run in the invincibles and feel great afterwards.
Is it just that I have a weak foot and can’t do plated shoes for longer runs? I raced a half in the Vapor Flys and felt perfectly fine. So not sure if that was it. But the vapor flys do seem more spongy and sink in better so feel easier to me.
Or is it that I’m picking the wrong shoes and there are better ones that are plated and or faster but not as stiff as the ones I have? Or should I ditch the plates altogether till race day and just stick to the 2 shoes I know work for me?

I'm writing multiple stories (because I apparently hate myself) with systems. I've kinda settled on 1 point of strength being 10 pounds (an American) and need to somehow quantify agility, dexterity, and constitution. My best guess on how to do it would have agility be miles per hour and constitution be how resistant to damage a human body can be. Might come back and write notes on how I end up doing it, and if someone asks, I can link the Google doc I'm doing this on.

Six Flags and their overly complicated membership/season ticket pricing structure is ... befuddling. Maybe some of you understand it better than me. Here's what I'm trying to do.
Our home park is SFNE. My oldest daughter and I currently have Thrill Seeker Annual Passes that are good through July.
We are going on two trips that will involve other SF parks this summer -- in 3 weeks to Lake George (SFGE) and in August to New Jersey (SFGA). Thus, I want to change our membership to allow free entrance for the two of us into these parks. Getting discounted entrance for my wife and youngest daughter (who will be with us for one of the trips) is a nice bonus.
We'll deal with dining plans later, but consideration of the drink bottle is part of what we do today as well.
Originally my thought was two enroll in the new Six Flags Plus program at $10/month. We'd overlap a couple of months with the ThrillSeeker pass, but that can't be helped given our upcoming trip to Lake George this month.
That pass would grant us access to all SF park, includes parking, 15% discount on food and some auxillary benefits. Cost for 2: $240 across 12 payments.
But, we'd also need 2 drink bottles. $34.99 each for the season IIRC. Question: Can these bottles be used in any park?
The Diamond Pass is an option at $40 more, which includes the bottle. That seems a better deal, as its really only $5 more expensive ... but it includes an extra 5% off food, and preferred parking, which seems worth $5. The pass expires at the end of the 2023 season instead of next June (like the + Plan would), but that's OK.
BUT ... we will not be able to activate the pass in person at SFNE before we leave for Lake George. Question: Will this be an issue?
The final option is to buy the passes at SFGE, which I understand will make that our "home park" for the season. But because its an all-park pass, there will be no issues getting into SFNE the rest of this year. Last Question: What about the other benefits (e.g. preferred parking, speciality rate passes, etc.) -- are they good in all parks or just the home park?

I thought the app has to tell you when it’s a 45min plus ride? I’m not a gold member yet so I don’t get to know ride distance. I had an hour to kill so I picked up someone and hit the go button and that’s the first time it told me the length of the trip being 75 miles. Totally jacked up my day but I couldn’t just kick him out after he’s all buckled.

He is a personality that you have to adjust to at first, but he is miles ahead at explaining what's going on with AI (if not, do youself the favor of at least listening to his recent interviews on youtube). I could hear you all not understanding how these LLMs work, and I barley do only because my own online rabbit holes. I hear you talking about GPT etc. that suggest to me you are very behind on this. So my dad bought me a car in a super market parking lot off someone and the vpn was covered and took months to uncover it. The dude he bought it off of lied and said it was in good conditions when it was at 125k miles and engine litwrally falling apart. Since buying it in january of 2020 at a cost of 5k the car has costed over $20k in repairs due to the terrible state it is in. Currently the suspensions just snapped after use at 141k miles. Should I tell my dad to get me a car at carmax or just continue repairing it. Also should I be responsible for paying for repairs that need to be done because of its age? I pay for stuff like new tires and oil change but for repairs cuz of age should I he responsible even though I had no say in getting the car?

I picked this up because of a cover blurb from Pierce Brown, who called it “Bloodydamn glorious.” I wouldn’t go that far, but this was certainly a solid debut.
The plot blurb, briefly: Genova and Florence are two bronze-age cities that have been engaged in a grinding, pointless war for generations. The battle for a key bridge - the capture of which will surely usher in the final victory, totally for real this time - is interrupted by the arrival of a strange craft and a supernatural storm. Out of the craft comes a beautiful woman, possibly a goddess, named Claire. Claire is a lost traveler from the distant and wondrous city of Zanzibar, and is able to convince the kings of Florence and Genova to make peace. That accomplished, she travels to Florence as the guest of the king with the intention of beginning her journey home to Zanzibar after the winter. But ending a generations-long war isn’t necessarily that easy, and Claire gets swept in Florence’s politics.
I’m going to start with the criticism, which is relatively minor but also drove me a little nuts. I think this would have been a lot stronger if the author hadn’t called the cities Florence, Genova, and Zanzibar. Those are real places, and I have personally been to Florence more than once. The real places got in the way of the fantasy and made the immersion harder; if you’re not going to ground them in real-world history, don’t use real-world names.
Moving on from the criticism, this book reminded me more of Miles Cameron’s Traitor Son Cycle than anything else (which is definitely a compliment). I can’t quite put my finger on why, exactly, but it had a similar feeling to me. Something about the mix of battle, intrigue, and magics going on, I suppose. It slipped back and forth among those three. Intrigue dominates, but there’s a decent amount of bronze age phalanx warfare mixed in as well. The magic is mostly focused on a single sequence at the end, but it’s a doozy. Very well done.
Overall, I’d give this a moderately strong recommendation. It got a little lost at times, and could have been a bit shorter I think. But as I said, a solid debut.

I haven’t watched much television in the last 15 or so years with the exception of Jeopardy and Ken Burns on PBS.
Then in July of 2022 I was laid up from some surgery and couldn’t do much more than sit around for about a month.
I love to read so my bookshelf kept me company, until my son (who is in the process of moving 2000 miles away as I type) suggested that this Ted Lasso show might be up my alley.
I never thought I could feel this way about a television show.
Im not a sports fan, and didn’t even know a football field was called a pitch.
Didn’t matter.
I loved it. All of it. Every episode. Every character. Every plot line.
I’ve never binge watched anything. Except this masterpiece of theater.
So thanks to everyone for making some of the best entertainment ever.

Accident happened 2 months ago in texas
So my son got into a car accident in texas. The other party failed to yield the right away (basically the other driver turned in front of my son driving a small red sports car on a long straight road on a clear sunny day) tho police cited the other driver as they said skid marks evidence put the other party at fault. Our car was totaled.
We tried to contact the other party's insurance and after a few days, they said my son caused the accident. My son had apparently passed a car going 15 mph in a 35 mph zone (camera can prove the exact location about 1/2 a mile from point of impact) my son was back in his lane for about 30 seconds. Knowing this the police still determined the other party was guilty.
My son sufferent a broken clavicle, a partially torn acl and mcl, bulging disc in his neck and a concussion. We ended up getting a lawyer. We explained everything. Typical we will get you money or you don't pay anything ( large law firm in West texas.
My son graduated high school at 16 so he can play college soccer an extra year. Now with all the injuries he won't be playing ball for atleast 8 months , losing the 1 year advantage. He is mentally in a really bad place. He says everything he sacrificed for soccer (high school, friends , social events ) was for nothing to the point I needed to get him to a therapist.
Well lawyer called today and said that the other parties insurance had agreed to accecpt 50% of the fault for the accident. That because my son passed that car 1/2 a mile away that maybe that caused the accident (another witness stated my son was driving normally. That person saw the while thing) What does that mean. The lawyer said we would get the medical bills paid for but what about what my son has gone through. I told the lawyer the witness said my son was 0% at fault and they should talk to him but the lawyer said no its ok because they already agreed to 50%.
Is this right? I was seeing if a settlement can perhaps pay for some of my son's college since the chance to play baseball on scholarship is out the window. My son has also been in a crap load of pain. I don't see how saying my son was 50% at fault seems right.
