Hey all. I finally allocates some funds to fun and built (most of) a new computer a month ago. I use Devuan Linux. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to get LoL to work, but games often had no sound. I found out that I could kill the client from Lutris and restart and it almost always fixes the sound (so I usually start at 1:10-1:30). Could be worse.
League Voice, however, has never worked. It says I'm connected and the green circles light up around other people, but I hear nothing and nobody can hear me.
Does anyone else experience this? Does anyone know of a fix?

We have been very close friends for four years and I am starting to realise that I am being used as an emotional sounding board. I put a lot of effort into this friendship, doing normal friend things like initiating plans, baking goodies for her and I even got her a job at my workplace. She has never ever reciprocated this effort or seemed grateful for anything.
I have supported her through several failed relationships. The first two were 'serious' I guess but then after that it has been a string of random month-long talking stages which she classes as relationships. She uses the excuse that she is bored so seeks out random men on dating apps and goes through one after the other.
I wouldn't care so much if it wasn't taking a toll on our friendship. I have started to realise that our entire friendship's basis is her coming to me for advice on every single guy. She becomes so invested in each guy and goes full psycho on them within the first week of speaking. Most of the time she has no intention of even meeting them. She will often send me a text from one of them and ask me to analyse it, when there's absolutely nothing to analyse. If a guy is clearly not compatible with her, she will argue with him until she's convinced he is now her type of guy.
The final straw for me was when I was in the middle of telling her about something huge I achieved that week and she stopped replying in the middle of the conversation and didn't come back until the following afternoon. Her replies to me when I try to talk about my life or my achievements are so generic and bland ("Thats so good!" - no follow up questions) but as soon as it comes to relationships she's all ears and will happily stay up texting. If she is not talking about a current guy, she will seek out drama or gossip about a past talking stage or ex.
I'm really sick and tired of it so for a week I have stopped initiating conversation with her. I think she has noticed because at work today, she messaged me about something random and when she saw that I was replying as normal, she switched back into talking about one of her Tinder guys. I gave her dry replies and she stopped texting me.
I have given her way too much attention over the last 4 years and I have put up with her relationship problems and other BS for too long. I'm going to cut back on contact and if I see that she can't talk about anything but guys, I will have my answer. I want proper friends who I can enjoy my time with. Advice appreciated!

Hi all, I have a 200Mb/s cable contract with a FritzBox Cable Router. The speed direct from the router and also from the wlan is good and stable. No trouble with this. Regarding a miss configuration and wrong cables inside the building I use Powerline devices from Devolo (Magic 2 serries) to the different rooms and floors. Until a firmware update last month all works good (not perfect) for me. The speed also in the room with the longest way over the power lines were good and stable. The communication between the Devolo devices were between 150Mb/s and 600Mb/s. Now (after the firmware updates) some devices have a speed of 4..8Mb/s between themselves. It's terrible! Additional I have many disconnects to outside (VPN aborts).
Does anyone have the same experience with the firmware from May with the Devolo devices? A downgrade to the older firmware was the only recommendation from the support. But I'm not sure if this is a good idea and the right way. Can somebody confirm a downgrade as a workaround and does it work with the automatic update (or see the device a newer version from internet and update automatically to the recommended newer version)?
If someone has good experience with other solutions than PowerLAN (DLAN or however you call it)? WLAN is not strong enough regarding the material between the floor and a new cable is also not possible (don't ask why, currently it's a fact). Other topologies I don't have any experience.

Scene: Working in an office park in Arizona My co-worker (28 M) and I (32 F) have been involved in the past (on and off casual sex and dating but nothing official). They have expressed to me in bed how they appreciate my confidence for being overweight but still feel attractive enough to be intimate (I'm overweight and they are also overweight but recently they have lost weight). I have battled with my self-image my entire life. I have diagnosed auto-immune disorders and have struggled my entire adult life. It is something I have always struggled with and hated myself for. Through therapy and work I have learned to accept myself for who I am at whatever size I am, I can't say it doesn't still sting when someone calls me names or berates me for living my life. We are discussing the popular movie "The Whale". I loved the film and told him it has some heavy-hitting points that were done very well. He (for the sake of the story his name is Abe) proceeds to tell me they cried many times watching the movie, much like I had, and we agreed it was fantastic work. Abe proceeds to go on about how sad it was that Brenden Frazier's character could not trust the medical system and they should have just spent twenty thousand to get "lypo-suction". I correct him and say, "You mean bariatric surgery?" and he look flustered and confirm that is what he meant. I share that many overweight people do not feel heard in the medical world because they are often reduced to being overweight (I am speaking from experience). He proceeds to say, "Well it's always got to do with weight. Losing a few pounds usually fixes their problems." I point out that I had been injured on the job years prior (a tear in my meniscus) and the doctor refused to consider I was injured and ignored my symptoms stating it was all in my head as an overweight person. I then had to perform my own physical therapy, having never addressed the initial injury. Abe says, "I'm not trying to trigger you or whatever, we should just change the subject." I agree and wait for the next topic of conversation (he's standing in the hallway just staring at me). I try to mend the awkwardness, "I'm not triggered, I am just saying that it's not always because a person is overweight, things just happen sometimes." I also agreed that yes, things are often caused or exacerbated by being overweight, but he still disagreed with me and said if a doctor tells a person to lose weight they should do what they say. I am done arguing at this point and say, "You're right, we should change the subject." Abe looks at me flustered and says 'I'm just going to go' and walks out of the room. I don't think he was trying to but I felt slightly like he was blaming my injury on my weight, and seeing as he was so easily able to lose weight it is the same for everyone. Kinda gave me the ick real quick. AITA?

i'm trying to make a basic explosion simulation inside of blender that I can import into unreal engine 5.
I've set up the explosion with 3 objects emitting particles, then I added a cube as a Fluid Domain inside the physics tab. I've played around with the settings and eventually baked it.
Now I want to export it as an Alembic file, you can see the settings in the screenshot, but for some reason when I import the .abc file into unreal engine he just gives me the "cube" as a mesh.

I've changed the unreal settings as you can also see in the added screenshots.
tried opening it in Maya and there you can see the mesh scaling up but no smoke or anything being shown.

does anybody have any experience with exporting alembics into maya? there isn't all that much info on the internet, I've tried every tutorial but couldn't find a working solution.

It’s just so half-assed how avoidants leave a relationship via radio silence. Especially when things are going (seemingly) well! No fights, no arguments, no awkward moments and no sour romance. I guess they do this to avoid conflict and facing their own truth? Or owning up to how they really feel versus who they pretend to be?
It’s agonizing for the other person involved. Being left wondering WTF happened? What went wrong? Can we talk about this? No we can’t talk bc I have to be stoic and go NC to show strength??
Fuck all that. Confident people (like myself) address things. We are straightforward and have the balls to be honest. This can be done in kind, assertive ways without being aggressive. We don’t leave people in the dark. We are respectful and considerate. We aren’t needy but we value clarity.
My story? Met a woman, high mutual interest, lots of communication, we dated, I got friend zoned and then went NC. Like clockwork, she came back around and we decide to meet presumably as friends. Low and behold we kiss and romance is fired back up.
Shortly after that she dips back out. Becomes “busy” out of nowhere and takes random trips out of town. I assume she met someone else and I revert back to NC.
She breadcrumbs me 3 days later. So I ask the question. “Are you seeing other people?” I kindly explain that she’s free to do that. But I deserve to know. And of course it means we are finished.
She responds saying she’s looking for another job (she currently has a job.) Which is fine, even plausible. But that still doesn’t answer my question. I ask again. Several hours later she says no. I’m not buying it but I guess it doesn’t matter now.
Now I’m about a week into NC round 3. This is after a low key text inviting to meet. She didn’t respond.
So I’m calling it: we’re done. This is after two missed weekends and days of radio silence in between. I’m just so sick of this bullshit.
TLDR: Confident people don’t belong with avoidants. They will waste your time and energy.

I am still freaked out from a few days ago thinking about what happened. Let me set the stage by saying I could have hallucinated this even though I have never had a visual hallucination in over 30 years. Never. Plus I haven't touched anything that might drop a visual hallucination out of the blue like this. Oddly I have been doing the Gateway tapes somewhat regularly. Anyways..
I was outside reading Reddit articles and looked away for a few minutes from the phone. When I returned to the app, I opened it with my face recognition. When I looked down at the Reddit app there was a black empty space where you would normally see the space for an article except there were two sets of small eyes looking directly at me within a black empty space with some form that I couldn't quite make out. These little eyes were not human though. They were perfectly round, with no eyelids or anything. Just two eyes with no color looking really intensely at me through a dark space with some strange greenish form. As I stare at the screen for about 5-10 seconds with the eyes looking at me, I blink and they disappear and are replaced with a regular Reddit article. The picture that replaced it was just the preview of a Reddit article.
Has anyone else had this kind of experience?

I'm looking to leave the RAF in the next 1-3 years (currently 34yo), having spent most of my career as an air traffic controller and flight safety officer. Unfortunately the majority of my qualifications are tied to the military and I don't have many useful qualifications in line with job adverts I'm seeing, and I'm not desperate to go into civil aviation anyway.
I started doing some cybecoding courses as it interests me, but given the amount of layoffs in that sector, I can't see there being a great demand for someone with limited coding skills when demand is low.
I've got learning credits available for more courses (thinking something like project management) but looking to tailor them towards a future career. I'm not massively bothered in the industry I work in, just looking for a stable desk job that pays 55k upwards that I can build a pension in. I'm also ideally looking to be based in/near Bristol/Shropshire/Manchester areas (just regions I like and having international airports nearby is a plus), and I'm definitely not interested in London.
I'm looking for advice on industries that are likely to provide a safe/solid career, maybe something tondo with space/technology/environment. I have a BSc in Geography, plenty of management experience and worked in civilian flight operations before joining the RAF.

I had a final year Spanish exam today and it was.... meh. I have studied Spanish since school and love it, I have a job set up for this year after I graduate to teach English in Spain. However, I sat down to my exam today...and it was horrible. Some parts of it I understood, but others were horrible. The exam was just worded really strangely and I don't like the format at all. I am very glad to be done now.
The exam is worth 30% of my grade for Spanish, which is worth 25% of final year...which itself is worth 60% of the degree. I think that works out to be about 4.5%, which isn't very big, I'm just disappointed that I didn't feel up to do the exam today :( I'm sure I haven't failed or done badly, I am just disappointed that I couldn't answer everything or got things wrong.
Does anyone have similar experiences of having one (or a few) bad grade(s) and then having had their degree turn out well in the end??

I say this not in a melancholic tone (undertone maybe), more like a reflexion from outside. Like an observer watching things through a glass, not really being able to touch or hear them.
I cannot look forward to any new experience, because for how much I can enjoy them momentarily, they soon become just a memory. And when I wake up tomorrow, following the same routine, what will I try to find in whatever I do after work? What experiences am I looking for?
I can appreciate the smell of flowers and Spring, the beauty of nature in this period, the taste of a new dish and the atmosphere of a nice and tiny restaurant, some music coming from an open window... they just don't leave anything in the moment right after. As I'm back home, there are just the walls and still furniture. And I cannot fill that with colours, music or sounds for how much I try. It just stays still.
When I interact with someone, I can cherish their humour or cheerfulness, I'm interested in their story and opinions and what I can learn from them. But then they'll just go their way. Even if we're colleagues and see each other daily. In the end, when I'm sitting alone on a bench in a park or on a trail or a beach.. I'm experiencing stuff on my own.
I read "Into The Wild" and I treasure sharing experiences, compared to only doing them alone. But 5 years later, 10 years later, where are those experiences? I learned something, felt something back then, but what does it make if I'm not feeling anything much right now?
And constantly chasing them is not the answer either. Cause you're running and running and running.. towards what? What can fill you up emotionally?

Hey. I just need to vent and hear some opinions/experiences. My boyfriend is a gamer and therefore owns noise canceling headphones. I have come across multiple scenarios where I needed him, and have called out for him. With no response. Today, there was a flood in the kitchen because of a leaking hose under pressure. He didn't hear me. And there has been other things as well.
My real concern is that we have discussed a future with children. What do I do if (and fingers crossed it never happens) the child is choking and I'm all alone to deal with it because my boyfriend is in the other room and can't hear me? What if I fall down the stairs with the child and is unable to move?
Also, I once read a reddit post from a guy whos house got broken into and his girlfriend got stabbed and raped, and he didn't hear a thing. He just happen to walk down stairs and see it happen.
Everything just makes me hate noise canceling headphones and don't know what a solution could be or if one is needed.

So i know this might have been asked before ive seen alot of posts and tried alot of "fixes" but lately this has been bothering me for a good 2 days now and ubisoft support has been no help at all..
I have been playing this game without issues for about 12 to 13 hours total. I booted up the other day after 15 min it decided to crash to desktop. Pretty strange but okay, rebooted tried again another crash. Now i was thinking i updated my graphics drivers (nvidia) the other day might need to roll back kinda worked i manage to play for about 1 hour until it crashes.
So after a bit of googling trying every fix under the sun, validating files, reinstalling the game, adding the game to the firewall exception list, disabling overlay, deleting cache, disabling cloud saves, disable xmp in bios you name it i might have done it lol.. i really cannot find what is the issue is atm.
Ive seen there were some forum posts on the Ubisoft forums that pop up while googling but they decided to remove the forums so i cannot reach those, the support only send message's about "how to troubleshoot". On reddit where most of the suggestion and i found some on steam.
Does anyone have any experience with this and know how to fix it?
the only error that shows up last before crash is:
AchievementsDownload.cpp (237) Unknown file extension for achievement.
