Have three wonderful daughters 15, 12 and 5 yrs old.
The question is about helping middle one with characterization of events. She has been a super picky eater since childhood with somewhat of strong reaction to what she doesn't like.
Issue that is bothering me is that she doesn't have any friends and I suspect it part owes to her negative characterization of experiences and people, similar to her characterization of most food items.
When you ask her about any experience, no matter how fun or positive it has been, she focuses on mildest dislikes and calls the whole experience terrible.
For example, we had a one on one weekend night walk in a lively neighbourhood with restaurants and coffee shops. There were a ton of people on streets which she liked. We had a great chat, lots of laughs and ended the evening with ice cream. On the way back the streets were less crowded. I thought the night went great as driving home we listened to both of us's favorite Rock tunes and head banged a little bit. Had the best of time and she was happy all along.
In the morning, her mum asks about the night before and she says it was terrible bcs coming back, the streets were no longer crowded!
My jaw dropped. To pick on something so insignificant and immaterial to call a great evening terrible made me so sad and disappointed.
This is just one experience but she calls any camping trip, any picnic or any other experiences horrible for the least inconveniences or dislikes.
How can I get my daughter focus on positive aspects of an experience in ways other than asking to her, because clearly that hasn't worked.

Some background: I’m not expecting a resolution to this memory that could easily have happened one way or the other, but the uncertainty has been bothering me lately, so I need to vent.
I (late 20s F) have been with my partner (late 20s M) for 6 years. Let’s call my partner Jake.
Jake is best friends with, let’s call him Aaron. Jake and I used to spend a lot of time at Aaron’s house, mostly the two of them playing video games and me watching, pool parties with friends, etc.
Aaron also has a sister (mid 20s F) let’s call her Nicole.
Aaron and Nicole’s parents, let’s call them Mr. and Mrs. R, we’re pretty ‘cool’ and friendly in the sense that they were always around, liked to be part of the conversations when Aaron or Nicole had friends over, hang out with us even if we were all drinking, etc. I felt like they were more involved than most other kids’ parents, so I genuinely liked them.
Aaron’s room is in the middle of a small hallway, with Nicole’s room to the left, and a bathroom to the right.
I don’t remember the exact timeline, but I believe this specific incident happened in summer 2020, almost 3 years ago.
Jake, Aaron, and I all smoked a blunt (I don’t smoke anymore, but I believe this may be relevant to the story).
Aaron and Jake decided to walk to a fast food restaurant near Aaron’s house, probably ~10-15 minute walk each way. I felt too high so decided to lay on Aaron’s bed, with the door to his room open, until they got back.
This is where things got weird.
Something was wrong with Nicole’s door, I can’t remember exactly what, but Aaron and Nicole’s dad, Mr. R, was fixing her doodoorway/doorknob or something like that. So, it made sense that he was pretty close to Aaron’s doorway. Aside from me, he was also the only one home at that time.
I noticed Mr. R’s shadow in front of Aaron’s doorway. This made it seem like he was closer to Aaron’s room than where Nicole’s doorway was.
Now, I don’t know if I was just very paranoid, or if this next part was really happening.
I heard what I truly believe was him masturbating and quietly moaning. I froze. I was internally panicking and felt lightheaded. I was so anxious- too scared to get up, say anything, or even move. I texted my boyfriend several times with messages ranging from “hurry back” “I need to go home now” etc.
Several minutes later, the front door opened and Mr. R’s shadow was quickly gone. It was Mr. R’s wife, Mrs. R. She said “helloooo”. And eventually walked to Aaron’s room and was making small talk with me, about how I’ve been, etc. Mr. R was still no where in sight.
A few minutes later, Jake and Aaron came back and I told Jake I needed to leave because I wasn’t feeling well. When we got in the car I told him exactly what I thought happened, and of course mentioned that I don’t know if I was just being paranoid, if the shadow and sounds were because Mr. R was working on Nicole’s door, etc.
But then Jake said something that freaked me out. When he was with Aaron and received all of my texts, pretty urgent in tone about needing to leave but not sharing details, Jake said he literally said to Aaron, “we should hurry back, hopefully she’s not getting r***d or something.”
Of course, this was about 3 years ago, and I still feel uncertain about what actually happened.
Some additional context, Mr. R is a local chief of police, so if anyone could legally get away with doing something like that, it would be him.
I’ve only been to Aaron’s house once since then, ~1 year ago, summer 2022 with Jake to drop off some dessert to Mrs. R. Nothing out of the ordinary happened when I saw Mr. R, we were there and gone in less than 5 minutes.
I also feel so weird thinking about the possibility that he really was just fixing Nicole’s door and that I’m insane for even thinking the alternative. But I can’t shake the memory of the shadow position, the sounds I heard and what I perceived them to be, and how panicked I felt.
Either way, I guess I’ll never know what really happened that night, which is unsettling..

Tome of summoning : phase enchantment is insane (altough single use per battle as far as the unit enchantment goes) both offensively and defensively to either be used on the turn you're charging in for battle mage 3 action spells to be usable after blinking 3 hex forward since it's a free action or for disengaing ennemy melee units when the ennemy was the first to charge in.

Small part discussing my 2 highlights of the dev diary#17 at the end of the video. this took way longer than I expected, I started it because I was on sick leave after release and got to play a lot so I figured I'd share my experience. Got back to work before finishing and finishing it took me longer than I would've liked. Therefore whether this video gets views or not will make or break my will to make further content on the game. I really appreciate this game and hope it's supported for a long time as I've liked and played a ton of aow2, 3 and PF (was too young for aow1) and in my opinion this is the best release day game since aow2 (back when release day games were fully finished projects). Between the amount of players this one has and the insane amount of stuff they can build up on, this will very likely end up as the best age of wonders to date, so I would very much enjoy making content onto this game for other hardcore fans.

My (16f) birthday is tomorrow. First I asked my best friend via text if she wanted to spend my birthday with me. I never got a text back. Then I asked my 2 other girlfriends if they wanted to celebrate my birthday with me. They told me they‘re already invited to a birthday party.

The election of Democratic Supermajorities to both chambers of the US Congress is the best outcome we can strive towards in the 2022 Midterm Election for many reasons. Among them: breaking the decade of gridlock in Congress, supporting President Biden’s agenda, and his re-election in 2024. My personal favorite is that this could commence the decades-long political banishment of the GOP from power, which the Republican Party so richly deserves.
The Republican party has proved itself treasonous on many levels. They are traitors to Humanity by supporting Trump. Traitors to the Nation for supporting Putin. Traitors to the government and betrayers of the constitution through their apologies for the 1/6/21 insurrection. To safeguard our country and the world, we must block the Republicans from power at the ballot box, at all levels of government, for at least a generation.
Political game playing may be inevitable among humans. Change the numbers, and then change the rules, if not the game. Cynical refusal to play at this time in history cedes power to NAZIs manipulated by Active Measures. That is a surrender to crypto fascism, not radical thinking, mere cynicism, or hipsterism.
In 2022, Patriots must unify to crush the Republican Party at the ballot box. We can defeat them in every State, at every level. We need the biggest turnout at the voting booth of any Midterm ever. We need to raise more money for candidates and organizations than we did during the entire 2020 campaign season if we are to accomplish this. We need to do this in the next six months.
This is what a “Blue Tsunami” REALLY looks like.

It’s long . I have a vey close Best Friend for 17 years. We are very different. I am a teacher , in grad school, who works 50 plus hrs a week with a modest life, no kids ( I tried for many years but it never happened), divorced. My parents have been married for 52 years. My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and is currently in the middle stages of the disease. So needless to say I have a lot on my plate.
My friend: has 4 kids, 13 years ago her twins father went to jail for life for selling drugs. She’s never been married and has always had to hustle to provide for kids. She even received felonies for not testifying on her BD. (I even almost got in trouble for getting a cashiers check in my name for them . But I never got mad for being put in that situation. ) her amount of sacrifice for her kids takes real courage. She is the hardest working person I know. She built a very successful business from the ground up. She spends her days surrounded by some of the wealthiest ppl in our town. This last year , she majorly leveled up her career, her car, her house, etc. She sold her house and moved into a very expensive condo, bought a Range Rover, and spent an insane about of $ on shopping and vacations from the sale of her house. She would be gone days/ weeks at a time with her kids home alone. I never judged. I was happy for her success. I have always admired her, looked upto her, and just always had unwavering admiration for our friendship . We have had soo much fun together. I respect her life’s decisions. There hers. Her childhood, her life, it’s all shaped her and made her the way she is. I thought it was unconditional. We always had each other’s backs. I never judged her . I only want her to be happy. She does however have a strong personality. She can be opinionated, bossy, and almost come off as arrogant. Some people aren’t for everyone. But that’s her …. We we’re definitely opposite. But I felt like twinflame friends.
We have been through everything together, pregnancies, child loss, domestic abuse, divorce, addiction, etc. I have been unwavering in my support for her and her family. I was going through a horrible divorce with a abusive drug addict husband when her house flooded. I moved her and her children into my home while I was in the middle of divorcing a monster. Her house had black mold I couldn’t let them live like that. But her presence actually save me. My ex husband couldn’t behave badly in front of her. So we saved each other that summer.
Last summer I started dating someone new… it’s been a year now. My man is kind, loving, humble, thoughtful, his character and the way he sees the world is beautiful. It’s the healthiest relationship I have ever been in. I’m grateful for him. He’s been through a lot. He’s older than me, he has an 11 yo daughter, and ultimately he wants a family. I spent my whole life Trying to have a family. So he’s my missing piece. He has a modest life. Modest career …etc. We are not going out and partying, we’re not traveling, . We are meditating, working out, spending time with family. Enjoying each other’s company. Cooking, talking about philosophy, politics, the world. We’re truly life partners. But my friend doesn’t think he’s the one. She thinks I shld be dating to find someone better. Someone rich, who can take me/us on vacations . Who will include her in everything we do. But that’s just it… we’re on a budget. We don’t even make together what she makes in a year. So it’s starting to feel like our morals and character is Changing.
In February my friend started to change. She started making hurtful comments to me out of the blue. Comments about my divorce and even more hurtful my relationship. She tried to say “why don’t you guys go out?” Why don’t you hang out with me?” Why don’t you travel more?” “He can tell you anything , etc.” like he was taking advantage of me for some kind of glow up. I thought she just missing me . So went out of my way to cancel my Saturday dinner plans and convince my man to come out with us. He reluctantly obliged because it was important to me . We were Supposed to meet downtown, but she forgot her travel bag for The airport the next morning, so we met At her house instead. When we arrived at her house she was drunk. She was extremely rude, and sarcastic to my Man. She kept saying “why don’t you go out?” I was sick by her behavior and I just kinda froze. I tried to get her to go out & have a drink but she didn’t want too. We completely changed our plans for her temper tantrum. In hindsight, I shld have checked her. She was not being kind. My man’s priorities are not partying in a bar or club. He has a daughter . She was out of Line speaking to him that way. He was kind to her even though I was horrified. But I know when she said “ I need a man to give me 10k a mo or he’s not my man “ my man felt some kind of way about her after that day….
After that night all the little things she’s said to me this year started to come flooding in..,
1)She said “ I feel like you weren’t a good friend because you didn’t tell me what was going on before the divorce “. When I was in a mentally abusive relationship and I was being mind fucked every day it’s hard to know what’s right and what’s wrong . I had soo much shame until I was finally ready to be free… it wasn’t about her. That hurt me.

Fast forward after 5 weeks of not talking. We met for drinks. When I tried to explain how I felt ….she dismissed the situation said well “I was drunk and high” and then proceeded to argue with me about my version of the situation , keep in mind I was sober. So I just buried my head in the sand that day. I tried to let it go. I figured there would be time to address it further later. But after that my feelings were hurt and my feelings about the friendship were different. So we really haven’t spoke sense.
This morning I finally got a text from her…,

I’ve been working at this place since august and there has been one coworker who has never called me by the correct pronouns. She always used my chosen name (no one at work except for my boss knows my legal name). It never used to bother me bc we worked on opposite sides of the store, but since I got a promotion we’ll be working more closely together. I had a one-on-one convo with her about my pronouns and I thought it went well. She was apologetic and I apologized and owned up to the fact I should have been more proactive about it.
That was in April. Safe to say, she hasn’t stopped misgendering me. I’ve been active on correcting her when I catch it, but I know it’s been worse because my coworkers have been telling me that they’ve caught her misgendering me and talking shit about me when I’m not around. Which I kind of expected and can deal with, she’s had issues like this before with cis coworkers. She’s constantly talking about people behind their back if they piss her off, and I seemed to have really pissed her off. (Apparently she wasn’t too happy I got a promotion before she did, since she’s been with the company longer. She was offered a promotion a few years back allegedly and she refused it, so I really don’t know what’s going on there. Before all this, if she asked for a promotion or raise she probably would have been given one.)
The way I see it though, I’ve been out and proud about being a trans man for almost a decade now, I’ve dealt with transphobia in the workplace before worse than not using the correct pronouns, and I’ve developed pretty thick skin from it (especially in Florida). As long as she’s respectful to my face, I can pretend I don’t hear all the shit she’s been saying behind my back. Not to mention that every time she does so, my coworkers (who are all amazing) report it to our boss (who is also an incredibly sweet lesbian woman who is very protective over all our queer staff—I’m one trans masc person out of four that work for her.) My boss has asked me whether I would like to push things further and launch an investigation, but as long as I’m only being misgendered behind my back, I didn’t see a need to at this point. Maybe that’s a bit lax of me, but she’s been respectful toward all of the other trans masc and queer folks that work with us, so I just figured she was pissed at me specifically. I just chalked it up to anger, not transphobia (ok, it was definitely transphobic), and tried to let things be. She always apologized when I corrected her too, so I just giving her the benefit of the doubt.
Then yesterday happened. I was kind of running back and forth between positions and she misgendered me twice over the store headset. I corrected her both times, and uncharacteristically she didn’t apologize. It didn’t really register to me until later because, as I said, I was busy. I went up near the front where she (Kat) was, and after talking for a bit she called me “she.” We were joking so I told her gently that it was “he.”
The smile instantly dropped from her face. She immediately launched into a tirade about how pronouns were “too hard to remember” and she’s “only going to refer to me by name now.” All right, whatever, nothing I haven’t heard before. While she’s going off, I hear an order come in on the opposite side of the store, so I make my way over by telling her it’s fine, just do whatever is easiest for her. So I’m back doing my thing, and my trans masc enby coworker (Denim) came over and asked if I was all right. I assured them that I’m fine, that I don’t mind if she called me by my name instead of my pronouns because at least she can’t fuck up my name.
Denim then told me that Kat said that calling me “he” goes against her religion.
Y’all, I laughed. Even though Kat says god bless you constantly to people, by no means is she a true christian. She has been alleged of stealing from the store before, she has used the lords name in vain multiple times, curses like crazy, and keeps a job even though if she were a “true godly woman” she would be at home serving her (nonexistent) husband. She wouldn’t be a divorcee working at a convenience store with a lesbian manager and queer coworkers if she was a true, god fearing Christian.
I laughed even harder knowing that she fucked up, because we have cameras EVERYWHERE that pick up EVERYTHING. There’s no way that they can’t figure out exactly what she said using the cameras we have aimed near the cash registers she was stationed at that day.
I asked Denim to let our boss know, since I couldn’t do anything because I didn’t truthfully hear it. Denim let our boss know that night, and now our boss is asking everyone who has worked with Kat to write statements so she can launch a full investigation. Even though I’m not allowed to look at Kat’s statement (and I didn’t PHYSICALLY look at it… wink wink), ALLEGEDLY she admitted to the entire thing, with the added notion that she told me she is going to try harder. Which, she never said. Not only that, but in her statement, ALLEGEDLY she referred to me as “she,” but then scribbled out the “s” every time she wrote it out.
It’s just so cartoonishly transphobic. Like she can’t even get a grip to refer to me correctly in the one paragraph statement she had to sit down and write for all of two minutes. Apparently, she was also screaming at her boss when she asked her to write it, so I’m sure that’s going to go over well.
I’m less angry about it than I am amused. Like I said, living in florida and being open and out as I am about it, I have pretty thick skin and I don’t really let it get to me. I came in this morning to give my statement and Kat refused to look at me or talk to me, even when I was paying for my food at her register, which was the only open register I might add. (Ok, maybe it wasn’t the only open register, but I kind of enjoy pissing her off.)
The company I work at is a national company, meaning they abide by federal laws and regulations, and our company treats queer people very well, so I don’t think that she can weasel her way out of this one. Not to mention it happened on the first day of pride month, which is hilariously ironic. Kat has literally been nasty and rude to half of my coworkers and combined with the alleged stealing (which was a grey area admittedly bc she was never caught), I don’t think she’ll have a job here for much longer. Best pride gift ever.

Please if anybody could quickly give me advice and tell me if I am correct or not, so I can reply to this message from my previous employer. (Message at the end). Spain, restaurant work, 30 hour contract, 8.5€ an hour.
I left 3 hours before end of shift, at a bar, due to the boss's verbally abusive behaviour. I warned him while on shift I would leave if continued. He continued so I left.
He said I wasn't entitled to the owed holiday payments (2.5 days a month). By my understanding the 14 day notice is more out of respect more than anything.
Everything I have found online says the 14 day notice is not a legally binding thing unless specified in the contract, like in very important jobs that could have a factory have to halt production, or something like that.
By my understanding, I am owed that money either way. He could then Possibly sue me if he wanted to attempt it, if he can prove loss of profits during that time, or specifically on the night I left. He wont do so, as half the profits are hidden in order to avoid tax. (We were told to just put money in the till without logging it. Would even "restart" the day in the afternoon, in the till system, so that it was not logged)
I only worked there just over 3 months. But a girl who worked there 2 years also left, so she is entitled to a lot more than me.

‘Warning! Tactical orbital insertion, T minus 5 minutes.’ The automated voice filled the hangar. Ra’ek was watching the 176th Airborne of the United Terran Expeditionary Corps scurry to their assigned stations. This was the first time an Alliance observer was allowed on a Terran warship. The Tourist was a Normandie-Class Heavy Transport Cruiser built with one purpose only – rapid transorbital troop deployment. Cheers and laughs could be heard all around.
‘Maniacs!’ Ra’ek thought to himself. ‘Don’t they understand planetary infantry assault on a fortified planet is a suicide? Why are they so eager to get killed in this pointless exercise in futility?’
It was common consensus between all Alliance species that there were only two ways to overcome a fortified planet’s defences. One was to siege the planet and hope that you can starve it out into a surrender while fending off the relief forces – a cost ineffective tactic that ties up a sizeable portion of one’s fleet in one system. The second was quite effective but left the planet barren and uninhabitable making it completely pointless in the first place - there are only so many habitable planets. Trying to land troops on the planet’s surface was pretty much unthinkable – any dropship reaching the atmosphere would be immediately intercepted by planetside defence installations. Orbital bombardment was made mostly fruitless by huge energy shields usually covering the planetary defences. And thus, the conflicts usually came down to pitting fleets against each other with the loser being the first one to retreat or surrender. The status quo lasted a millennium and would have lasted even longer if the Alliance never encountered humans.
When the new species was discovered, it was still in its galactic infancy stage. The ‘humans’ – as they called themselves - only occupied a handful of neighbouring star systems. They were average in pretty much all aspects. No stronger than the Ugan, no faster than the Kresbil, no smarter than the Etrid. Even their technology level was somewhat lower than that one would expect from a species capable of interstellar travel. There was nothing exceptional about them apart form the fact that they managed to survive and thrive on what seemed like a death world. After gaining access to the human historical records, the Alliance Council voted not to offer the fledgeling species a place in the Alliance for the time being, seeing how self-destructive they were. It was entirely surprising they managed to even make to space and not destroy themselves in the process.
30 human years later the Xetids also discovered the galactic newcomers. This was an aggressive species whose main focus was expansion. Their culture demanded subjugation of the weak. When the Alliance encountered them, there were no negotiations, the Xetids just attacked. After a prolonged conflict, a ceasefire was called and both factions agreed to stay out of each other’s way. The humans however appeared very weak, and so, the first Human-Xetid war began. It was as one-sided as one would expect. Terrans learnt that this galaxy is a dangerous place. Being behind in both technology and experience in interstellar warfare, having no large space war fleets or planetary defences, the humans lost 3 habitable worlds to Xetid occupation forces and were forced to retreat back to their cradle world. It is not known if Xetids got overconfident or just didn’t have the resources to simultaneously hold the occupied planets and invade Sol (human home system), but they only sent a portion of the fleet. And the humans managed to defeat it.
Watching the conflict from the side lines, it was decided that humans got lucky. We had no idea that it wasn’t luck that helped this species. Not just yet. The Xetids are sore losers and they came back with an entire occupation fleet a decade later. This time, they were in for a surprise. The primitive (by galactic standards) human armaments we no longer, they were on par – and in some aspects better – than those of the invaders. The fleet got thinned out without achieving much. At first, we though that one of the Alliance members secretly supplied the humans with the tech necessary to produce those, but a thorough internal investigation proved that wasn’t the case. Besides some of the weapon systems that these humans possessed were noting like we’ve ever seen before. Giant mass accelerator cannons mounted on orbital weapons platforms capable of catapulting solid projectiles at 8/10th of luminal speed.
The Alliance decided it was high time to pay close attention to the new species’ development – something wasn’t quite right. In the meanwhile, the humans kept growing their fleet, churning out ship after ship at ridiculous speed. They then retook the planets they lost, but suffered heavy losses in the process since the foe had a decade to fortify those. A decade is not enough to erect a planet-wide defence network, but it’s enough to inflict heavy casualties on anyone attempting to make planetfall. Humans didn’t care. They took the planets, making Xetid forces flee. This was the end of the First Human-Xetid conflict. It was followed by half a century of… non-aggression if you will, since there was never any official declaration or any kind of treaty.
The second conflict between the two species was fought on equal footing. Xetids brought numbers, while humans had superior weapons and tactics. The same humans that were barely capable of space conflict a mere century ago were now fighting Xetids to a stalemate. The orbital skirmishes had no clear winner, and planetary assault was now impossible on either side – the worlds held by either side were fortified to their fullest. Any attempt to land ground forces, resulted in burning pieces of shredded landing craft showering the planet’s surface. The Xetids called for a ceasefire and withdrew ending the Second Human-Xetid War.
The Third Second Human-Xetid War broke out when a huge Xetid force, larger than anything seen before, crossed into human space and headed straight for their home system some 80 years later. What surprised us was the ease with which that force was dispatched. This is when we learnt how truly terrifying humans were. It had barely been a century and a bit, but they managed to not only catch up to Xetid tech, but thoroughly surpass it. Their ability to ‘reverse engineer’ anything they come across is genuinely scary. We should have known that a species that managed beat the deathworld they originated on into submission would be highly adaptable. Their ingenuity far outpaced anything the Alliance had to offer. The Council decided that the best course of action was to establish diplomatic relations with Terrans and then bring them into the Alliance. This brings us to a walkway in the embarkation hangar of The Tourist. Emissary Ra’ek was now witnessing the sheer insanity of what these primates were about to commit to.
‘You seem uneasy, Emissary Ra’ek,’ - Master Sergeant Joseph O’Regan enquired. ‘Of course I am. Everyone knows you don’t just assault a fortified planet.’
‘We’re not everyone,’ - Master Sergeant mused.
‘But still, your dropships will be vapourised on approach,’ – Ra’ek refused to believe that a direct infantry assault on Xetid homeworld would result in anything but a disaster.
‘But we’re not using dropships.’
Ra’ek gave Master Sergeant a quizzical look.
‘Look there,’ – the human pointed towards the far side of the huge hangar where rows of conical shapes were lined up. ‘Those are drop pods. Something straight out of our old fiction novels. Only now they’re not fiction and we have to thank our enemies for delivering the technology to make them real.’
‘How so?’
‘Why spoil the fun?’ – he smiled. ‘Come, we can watch the progress from TacOps station.’
Ra’ek jaw would have dropped if his species was capable of that as he watched hundreds of tiny drop pods speeding towards the planet’s surface without slowing down. A few indicators depicting pod status went from green to red on the display to the right, as the pods caught a stray AA shot, but the vast majority of them remains green.
‘Passenger to Tourist, planetfall made. Ready for sightseeing,’ – a voice came from the speakers.
‘Roger that, Passenger. Welcome to Xetid Prime. We hope you enjoy your stay. Proceed to the objective. Give us that window to land the second wave.’
Ra’ek was at a loss for words. The pod board indicated less than 1% was lost during the descent. This was unprecedented. A heavily fortified planet was breached so easily. How?
‘The pods are made of improved durasteel compound. It’s tough enough to stay in one piece when hitting the ground. We also managed to miniaturise the gravity generator tech to make sure the troops inside don’t get liquified on impact with the surface,’ – Master Sergeant O’Regan seemed to know what the Emissary was thinking.
‘Miniaturise a gravity generator?’ – Ra’ek didn’t even think that was possible. The technology behind it made it impractical to make one smaller than the pods the humans were using in this operation.
‘Yes,’ – O’Regan nodded. ‘Though due to the power and operational parameters they only last a few seconds before burning out. Enough to negate the thousands of Gs of the ground impact, which is all it needs to do. There’s saying we humans use – If you want peace, prepare for war. And we’ve had 80 years to prepare.’

I’m an avid traveler and I wanted to share my experience and answer any questions that other people may have. We left from LA to Thailand through Singapore with a meager 20 hours of travel time. Itinerary:
2 nights Bangkok: We underestimated how much the jet lag would affect us, we landed at 12pm on Saturday and slept from 2 pm until 7 am on Sunday. We checked out The Grand Palace, Chinatown & Centralworld on Sunday. It was brutally hot & humid and overall felt like a major disappointment.
2 Nights Siem Reap: I normally always do 1 country per trip but I couldn’t see myself doing Cambodia anytime soon and Angkor wat was high on my bucket list. Seeing the sunrise at Angkor was beautiful, we did it as a tour with Angkor Guide Sam. Sam was great can’t recommend him enough. We saw Ta Prohm and Angkor Thom and I actually liked Angkor Thom best! I’ve done a lot of digging and it seems like there are lots of good reports for Siem reap, I however was very disappointed. It’s a very poor city and has little infrastructure, the food we tried was underwhelming compared to Thailand and overall it felt extremely touristy. It may have been just where we explored but after reflecting on Siem reap I don’t personally think it’s worth the time and effort to tack it onto a Thailand journey.
4 nights Koh Samui - we were limited to the eastern islands due to monsoons and Chaweng is obviously very touristy. We stayed about 20 minute walk from the best bars and nightclubs which was great! We explored Ang Thong marine park and did a ATV tour to the highest point of Koh Samui. We also experienced the nightlife which truly was exceptional. We stayed in a touristy area so the food was not good and overpriced but besides that we thoroughly enjoyed Koh Samui for what it was and got to experience some great adventures.
4 nights Chiang Mai - a foodie paradise it seems, cheapest place we visited. We did Pooh’s eco trek which was an authentic unique experience staying with real Karen tribespeople. It was a great tour and once in a lifetime experience we also did a zip lining tour which was fun and included the only jungle roller coaster in the world. I would recommend five nights in Chiang mai. Beautiful city, so much charm at every corner and so many adventures spread all around the city.
3 nights Golden Triangle - we stayed at the Jungle Bubbles at Anantara that was priceless! Sleeping in a jungle with Elephants is one of those memories you carry with you to your deathbed, the cooking class was phenomenal and we also did a boat ride through and around the golden triangle in the Mekong River. If you can swing it, I think it’s worth every penny and was somehow unique, relaxing and adventurous all at the same time.
2 nights Bangkok - We stayed on Soi 11 and that made all the difference in the world. Smack dab in the middle of the action. Walkable to some of the best nightlife in the city and close to all the sights
Accommodations:
Bangkok- Doubletree Sukhumvit, in Phrom Phong, is close to the BTS which was a plus but overall it was a poor location far from everything. Decent property but I would not recommend staying at the doubletree due to the location. 3/10
Siem Reap - Templation Hotel, very cool hotel with a very cool outdoor bathroom and beautiful pool. Drinks were very very weak and food was very overpriced and underwhelming. The location is close to the temples but not the city, this made it difficult to get around. If you’re looking to explore the city this is a bad hotel if you’re looking to relax at the resort it may work! 5/10
Koh Samui, Sala Samui Chaweng Beach resort only 20 minute walk to the best nightlife in Chaweng and a beautiful hotel with great service, the breakfast was great and there is a grocery store & pharmacy right across the street to satisfy any cravings. There’s also a fire show on Saturday’s which is very cool. 8/10
Chiang Mai - Le Meridien, major construction at this hotel, pools were closed rooftop bar was closed, restaurant was closed we weren’t told this ahead of time which was disappointing. But it is right across the street from the night bazaar and walkable to most sights. 6.5/10
Golden Triangle- Anantara Golden Triangle, beautiful resort and world class service, from the massage and welcome gift at the beginning to the personalized touches spread throughout the rooms. The staff remembers your name, your orders and are prompt to respond to every request you may have. One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at 9.8/10
Bangkok - Aloft Sukhumvit 11 was a hip trendy relatively basic hotel, but what it lacked in charm it made up for in location. The perfect location to get around the city and there is so much to do directly around the hotel this is the place to stay if you like to be in the action. Location 10/10 Hotel 7.5/10
Getting around: Bangkok - Grab (App), BTS, Metro. Super easy to get around with google maps
Siem reap - Grab does not work at the airport, it’s only taxi’s/tuktuk’s and they are extremely expensive.
Koh Samui - Grab does not work here, lots of taxi’s looking to overcharge tourists but we mostly walked.
Chiang Mai - Taxi’s only from airport, we mostly used tuktuk’s to get around.
Restaurants/Bars/Clubs
Bangkok Rung Rueang Pork Noodle (Left Shop) - great tom yum soup and pork balls 7.5/10
Pastel Bar - food was ok, but the drinks were delicious, the views were immaculate and the vibe was awesome. Requires Reservations! 9/10
Koh Samui Sound Spot Samui - great DJ, strong drinks, the shows they put on were well worth it. 8.5/10
Prego Chaweng - Overpriced, poor service, poor food 2/10
Green Bird - touristy meh food, decent service 4/10
Chiang mai Ploen Ruedee Night Market - super cool market, live performances which were engaging. Good food 7.5/10
Khao Soi Lung Prakit Kad Kom - khan soi was incredible, it was packed 2:30 pm with locals. Highly recommend one of the best meals of the trip. 9/10
Chang Phueak Pork Leg Rice - The pork was moist and flavorful, the cabbage was robust. It was delicious, definitely go to Lung Prakit and this food stand while in Chiang Mai. 9.5/10
Khalo Soi Lamduan - recommended by a local, the khal soi was solid but not the best. 6.5/10
My travel style is unique experiences, food and sightseeing. Thailand had its highlights but for my style, I feel South America offers a lot more value.

Trade Goods

Obsidian

The lifeblood of the Abotinam. Along the vast fields surrounding the Three Elders, the remains of their previous eruptions spill, drawing gashes in the already desolate landscape. And in these scars pick the Abotinam that have settled in the highlands, those who stick to a more pastoral way of life as they maneuver from field to field, picking out the volcanic glass best suited for toolmaking. These tools drift down to the lowlands, where they are carried far and wide by traders proclaiming the superior quality of Aboti Obsidian, tools as hardy as the folks that live in the shadow of these volcanos.

Tin

Along the river Niba, the settlement of Nibalam was hard at work pursuing a different kind of material. While copper was a rare material in Xanthea, its presence in scant amounts more than justified the exploration into the soft metal that was bountiful in the foothills around Nibalam. Such as it happens, these tin deposits would prove a massive boon for Abotinam dominance in northern Xanthea. But for the time being, this deposit was more of a local curio than an economic engine. With bronze work still in its infancy, most tin was cold worked into jewelry, accenting gems and obsidian in the crafting of basic rings and necklaces.

Foodstuffs

Owing to how spread out the Abotinam population is, trade of food remains largely internal, with only the import and export of special cultivars reaching other cultures. With the advent of the Xanthean Drought, trade of food suffered even more, and those northern settlements, who were hit by the drought less harshly, began to command larger exchanges of the resources of the south than before.

Major Trade Routes

The Coastal Loop

Picking its way around the cliff faces, a network of dirt paths navigated the rocky coastline, connecting disparate villages around Abo. This loop is not a very apt description, as it does not form a complete circle, nor is it only a single route. However, the name persists, perhaps due to the sheer inertia of trying to rename the most well-travelled route for internal trade between Abotinam villages.
The Coastal Loop formed the backbone of all connections between all settlements on the Abo peninsula. While various tracks would eventually wander into the highlands, all eventually connected back to the paths near the water, as that remained the easiest place to navigate and travel without enduring the endlessly draining trek up and down the picturesque rolling hills. It fords the three major rivers, skirts the three bays, and cuts through the three largest cities of Abo. Navigating it is a lesson in local knowledge, as every intersection is a question that can only be answered by someone who has already been through. It is convoluted, built with no grand plan but simply by people needing to get somewhere, and it allows for resources to get where they need to go, eventually and with an amount of ease.

Laveno

Laveno, or literally "Veno's Pass", was an important trade route at the base of the Abo Peninsula. While caravans would regularly skirt the coastline, visiting the many settlements along the route, there was great interest in connecting the Selneam and Qel-Savaq lands more directly, a proposal that would take weeks off the journey. The access that the Selneam people had to rock salt was of specific interest, and so much work was done to find a path from river valley to river valley, along the base of the peninsula. In the shadows of Mount Veno, a collapsed stratovolcano that was one of the three holy sites in Abotinam spirituality, such routes were found.
The pass was not without its hurdles. Travel was frequently forestalled in the winter, as snowfall prevented navigation of the easier routes, and guides hunkered down to wait out the storms. The summer, too, presented the usual issues of wildlife attacks and rockslides, forcing constant vigilance. But the time savings where the most valuable commodity in the region, and so the trail became more and more well established, a boon for the local communities. It was this trail that would eventually lead to the establishments of [Hot Springs Hostels] in the highlands.

Toward The Luzum

With a lack of seaworthy vessels, further trade relied on pack animals to carry goods long distances. Trade routes through Qet-Savaq land continued on towards the Kanganna, Hortens, and from there to even more distant settlements. These peoples, who inhabited the banks of a great river called the Luzum, would provide in return significant gifts in exchange for the obsidian and tin crafts of the Abotinam. It was in this way that the Abotinam name began to make an impression beyond its borders, for better or for worse.

The Merchants

It is those traders travelling far to the south that first found gainful employment with no need of agriculture. While artisans primarily embarked in their craft when the fields laid fallow, and obsidian-harvesters simply incorporated their work into the normal work of herding and hunting, the people that took these wares to the south where they could be traded for quantities of cheap foodstuffs found that they never needed to grow their own food. It was in this situation that the famine broke down the trade networks, forcing the merchants to travel further south and further east in search of those willing to provide sustenance in exchange for their wares. Those that could not make the journey were forced to return home, working to till the fields, the prodigal children if there ever were any. But those that were able to go the distance helped build the continent-wide trade networks that would come to shine in the future.

Description: PLEASE BE THOROUGH. EXPLICITLY STATE ALL ISSUES : I'm the second owner of this, but only carried lightly. Scales are like new and show no signs of marks or wear. Some wear on clip and hardware. Very slight blade play if you wrench on it, but that and the centering could probably be fixed with more tuning (blade very slightly favors the show side). Blade has some light patina but I just coated with mineral oil when I mounted the scales. Includes box, paperwork, and extra clip screws.
