This is the longest I’ve gone without drinking in a while. I’m so excited to keep it going!
How has everyone been entertaining themselves? I’ve had my moments where I’m about to cave but then I remember that a few hours of feeling nice and fuzzy (then leading to a blackout) isn’t worth the mental/physical anguish that follows afterwards.
Sobriety can be boring—as I expected. To fill my time instead of getting hammered and just scrolling on TikTok, I’ve been productive. Cleaning and rearranging my room for a nice change, painting, listening to my vinyls, and watching lots of Queer Eye. I’ve also been allowing myself to eat candy since I’ve been craving sugar.
I’d rather be bored than binging!

Crosspost from originalxbox, but since it may be mod related and not getting much response there, I thought I'd try my luck here.
Just got the Xedusa HDMI adapter which I'm very happy about. I got video issues when I was playing games (intermittent blackouts while game continued running) which after some googling seemed to be related to it being in NTSC mode (PAL region here).
I used enigmah to switch to PAL. This solved the video issue, but now I have no sound in virtually every game. Sound works fine in XBMC (etc) so it's not a connectivity problem. Changing back to NTSC didn't solve the problem either.
I've gone through a few games but so far Beyond Good and Evil (played from the HDD) is the only one I've got sound from. It also affects every legit discs I've tried, so I feel sure it's a configuration issue.
Is it possible it's routing sound through the optical out in games? If so how can I disable this without having the MS dash?

Hi I've worked in the food industry full time since I was 16. Usually mom and pop shops because they're a lot of fun to support, so maybe things would be different working for some corp but in my experience we're usually perfectly staffed and taking time off is difficult to do last-minute. I wanted to take today off and had full intentions of taking it off (pretending to call in sick for the first time ever, though my allergieshave been killing me so it wouldnt be much of a lie) but then learned my coworker already took the week off and others put some time off ahead of time, and that meant there was no one else that would be available to cover the shift if I wasn't there. It's possible for the kitchen to run, but it's not efficient at all, adds a large amount of stress to everyone, and wait times go from our usual 10 minutes to over an hour.
Now, since this coworker already took the time off, I'm needed to come in a little earlier than usual for my shift today. No big deal, means I'll be first off in the evening hopefully earlier than usual. My husband became furious that I was asked to come in early when I wanted to take the day off and is upset that I didn't just tell them I won't be coming in. That they can just figure it out and it's "not on me to pick up their slack."
I've tried to explain that even though my coworkers may take more time off than me, me suddenly calling out more will not change anything and will make me look bad in my bosses and fellow coworkers eyes. If I just start calling out morning of if there's no one able to cover, it reflects poorly on my character and he tries to tell me that's their problem not mine.
He has never worked in the food industry and has only ever worked from home, except for a year working at a vape shop that was very very laid back and the owner had another shop next door they were always at anyway so attendance has always been flexible. If he decides he doesn't want to work he can just not work.
I will admit, in the 6 years I've worked with my bosses I did let them walk over me at about year 3/4 when I was manager, so I know he has resentment toward my bosses for that treatment, but ive since stepped down from management and have taken a "not my problem" approach with most other things going on. As long as there's no theft or health code violations happening i dont get involved. I've put my foot down about working weekends unless its to cover in advance and have a shift change, and I only work 3 days a week, hours ranging 4-6hours.
I feel at my wits end trying to explain how working in service works and I know no matter how much I do explain, he'll never get it having not experienced it and he'll just continue to be mad at me and my job for things out of my control. If I he doesn't show up to work, nothing changes. He can do the work the next day. If we're down a person at work, prep doesnt get done, cleaning doesn't get done, food takes 10× as long to get out, we get more refunds and complaints. It's a huge domino effect. Everyone is upset.
Is there any advice to help this situation? How can I be better?

I have seen so many stories over the past 15 years or so of people going to someone who may or may not claim to be a licensed body injector, who ends up just chucking them on a table and filling them with industrial grade silicone, or fix a flat, or some other non surgical filler. I was wondering if there was any general information on the thought process or common life traits of people who do that? How do you look people in the eye, tell them you're qualified, all the while knowing you get your supplies at the hardware store?

I've noticed that as the cost of the diamond axe and sword goes up, the enchantments get better as well. The "trading" page at minecraft.fandom.com just has a little note "When creating an enchantment offer, the game uses a random enchantment level from 5 – 19. The enchantments are never treasure enchantments". How does this "random enchantment level" of 5 - 19 correspond to actual enchantments and their level and the weapon's cost. For example, I've seen an Unbreaking III sword offered by a Weapon Smith for 26 emeralds, and a Looting II sword for the same price, but never Looting III. Is there a good description of the mechanics of this aspect of trading?

Long story short I owned two vehicles, a 2012 grand Cherokee Overland I bought last year used which is my daily driver and a 2020 Bullitt mustang that is my fun, summer car, of which is fully paid off.
I decided to sell the jeep because while it was in very good shape it had high miles and in the first year I had to do a lot of work that I didn't anticipate. Now I did most of the work myself and cost me about $1000 but if you would have paid someone to do it make it 4 or 5 times that. In the end I just sold it privately for the original amount I paid and the cost of parts so I broke even on it.
My Mustang is a beautiful car, but for something that gets parked 6-7 months of the year I'd much rather have something new and fancy I can drive year round and get more use out of.
Just last week I ended up getting a new grand Cherokee Overland from my local Dodge dealer. Now this one was quite expensive, with it having pretty much every single option possible, and it being a higher trim, but If I'm getting rid of my mustang I want something that I won't get bored of and will keep for a very long time.
In the end I got a stellar trade in on my mustang (purchased in may 2020 for $62,250 all in) and got a trade in of $54,600 (that's including taxes). So after three years of ownership I only took a $7650 hit! Not only that but since compared to other brands out there, there seems to be a surplus of grand cherokees on dealer lots. I was able to negotiate $5000 off MSRP (sticker price) and get 0% interest financing since they have a promotion on ATM for grand cherokees. I also opted for the 7 year extended warranty of which I got them to knock off $700 from the standard price.
This is how the deal worked out.
Sticker price was $88,850 (I know fully loaded lol) -5000 off sticker, now $83,850. -$52,000 from trade in, now $31,850
Plus $1,700 for arctic prep package (this includes block heater, trickle charger, oil pan heater, battery blanket, all fluids changed to synthetics, all weather floor mats front and rear, mud flaps, etc)
Plus $700 admin fee (couldn't for the life of me get them to take it off, as much as I tried)
Plus $4,500 for extended warranty (OG price was $5,200)
This comes out to $38,750, add taxes and grand total financed is $40,687.50 which is financed 0% interest over 5 years. Factor in the $17,000 I got from my old jeep I paid $23,687.50 difference.
I know this is a lot of money, and obviously if you want a grand Cherokee you can get much cheaper lower spec options, but considering the car market right now buying anything under MSRP and with 0% interest financing is hard to come by.

Anyone know how to move the hud for your player from the left to the right in couch co op? It may seem pedantic but my partner and I usually play on a specific side and not being able to switch this one is having us look across screen. If I try to have her launch the game I get a license error. I have also tried starting the game then quitting and rejoining while she is still in game but it just reverts me back to the left side.

I've published my manuscript to IEEE ACCESS and they responded today it has been a month to receive their decision. Three reviewers reviewed my article two of them says reject (updates required before resubmission) and the other one says it is accepted with no required updates . So the associate editor response was i should make this changes before resubmitting again and i only have one chance to submit again after the first revision. The reviewers comments was about very general things (nothing specific at all) and all the things that they asked about are already stated very clearly in the manuscript except for minor things , but there are very naive comments asking me to do changes that i have totally clarified more than 3 times in different sections in the manuscript so how they didn't notice this and asked me to do it ,so i wanted to know if that is normal to get reject with doing updates at the initial submission, does it is common to get totally accepted from it initial submission , or what I'm facing is more common?

17M 6’3 from UK, used head and shoulders for the first time in months due to new job requiring flake free skin and head, and wishing 2 days of washing with head and shoulders (men ultra), I have a very dry and itchy scalp that I haven’t had to this degree in months. Wondering if it’s the shampoo or I am allergic as rashes sometimes show when I shower whether this is from the shampoo or not I do not know. Although there is no presence of dandruff when I itch my scalp it’s like it is snowing. I will be wearing a hair net in my new job although am not wanting to risk it. How do I get rid of this problem effectively?

What are your opinions on DEI initiatives? Not trying to be controversial. I’m a TT faculty of color who moved to US for grad school. I like the DEI initiatives at universities but my personal opinion is that everything is getting too much out of proportion. Honestly, most of the faculty in my university running these workshops now are online and teaching completely asynchronously. How is this helpful for the whole equity and inclusivity thing when faculty hardly knows the student? Most of the stuff discussed in the DEI meetings/workshops is impractical and leads nowhere. I would love the ways through which DEI can be enhanced but that is hardly discussed and the agenda is focused on something else. Again, this is my personal opinion and do not want to offend anyone here.

Okay so yes I’ve complained about the Patreon not being super worth it before, but this episode was sooo good. Some thoughts:

1. It was worth the cost of Patreon just to see Holly and Bridget die over Hef barking. Didn’t see that coming.
   
2. Also, did anyone find it bone chilling when Joy said “You’re not happy Holly, I can tell.” 💀 Smart lady.
   
3. Holly looked so gorgeous (in the slumber party reaction I mean) that I was almost drooling and I’m a straight woman. Bridget looked great too, but lord Holly’s eyes are just so big and beautiful and her face shape and structure is like… so aesthetically pleasing? I don’t know how to explain it but I could just stare at her for days 😂 It’s not like she looks different or anything but I’m still kinda wondering if she got something new done cause idk her face is just so snatched.
   
4. I honestly did not think the View interview was that bad. I can see why they were upset of course, but it was what you’d expect for 2005 and their situation. Also, the TOPIC OF THE EPISODE WAS SEX. I didn’t realize that before, and now I think it’s kind of silly that they were so shocked about the sexual questions when the theme was literally sex. The only part I was shocked by was the “dirty old man” moment - I had always wondered what that was about cause Kendra mentions it on the GND episode. The question was “Without the money, wouldn’t you just be a dirty old man?” Yikes! Hef handled it well! I mean, he WAS gross but I didn’t expect them to disrespect him like that to his face. Kind of amazing.
   
5. I think the girls did a better job of representing themselves than they think - but I always feel that way in general. I liked when Holly explained why she doesn’t like guys her own age - I often felt the same in my 20s and teens even, and I love that Joy validated them said “Yeah, I can see why you guys like him” rather than making them look stupid like Barbara did when she goes “okay well I don’t get it but hey”because Hef is such an extreme person - his bad qualities are horrifying but I could see how his good qualities would be very attractive. I also thought it was smart of him to say that it’s not so much his money they’re attracted to, it’s the whole Playboy world and lifestyle, and he’s right. I’ve never heard him acknowledge that before. Overall, it was much more interesting and not as tough on the girls as I expected.
   

What are your thoughts?

We've known each other for a month and basically just started dating. Although we get along very well and we talk a lot I am embarrassed to talk about sex, I (24f) have had sex since I was 16, and he (22m) has had it about 2years ago. I feel that he lacks experience and cannot do the things I like and want, but I'm embarrassed to ask and talk about it, I'm not sure how to explain the things I want. Sorry its a bit long.
so a bit of background i(14m) have 3 sibling (ill refer to them as letters) b(16m) k(12f) and p(8f). We all have the same mother and father.
My mother is physical#ly abusiv#e so by brother and i live at my dads but my sisters live 50/50.
At my moms my sisters get everything they want, and if they dont than all hell gets unleashed because of that one of my sister's k is SO entitled. LIKE HOW YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE.
And to probably no ones surprise SHE IS AN ATTENTION machine. She needs everybody to be focused only at her at all times (witch ruined many events and gatherings) and my dad uses this as an excuse for some her bad behavior “ she isn't like you she's special and needs more attention”
And also my father and i have NOTHING to talk about so i sometimes just try to start conversations by asking about a magnet that he already told me about. A Lot of the time when i would try speaking to him he would show me how annoyed he is that i'm speaking to him.
It all started like 2 years ago when i noticed that if i do almost anything i get punished yet my siblings dont. They can all basically do what ever they want if it doesn't directly hurt my dad. K can punch me slur at me and if i compline he tells me to stop whining, my brother on the other hand is nice to me and sometimes stands up for me.
Now bear in mind this happens in every dinner but this one broke the camels back. So my sister was generally asking a question at the dinner table and i answered, then she complains to my dad about the fact that she wanted him to respond. And he agreed with her. And than when she did the same thing to me like a 100 times i told my dad about it and he just ignored me. And than she made a mean comment about me so i did the same and the second i did my dad stared at me and rased his voice and told me to stop and im not allowed to speak anymore. (i can't stress how often this happens).
And if i try to retaliate he punishes extra because “youre a boy”
by the way all the other siblings can comment on others and my dad just says that “they are doing to be funny and i'm doing it to be mean. So if I ever want to complain about my sister i need to have my brother there.
A few minutes later we were discussing our trip in the summer. My brother raised the point that every trip that we take is completely ruined by her. She just continued to not take responsibility and blame me. Than my dad stopped by saying “you are ganging up on her and i dont like that”.
A few hours after dinner i came to ask him why did he do nothing when she did this and that…
Yet he punished me for that. Than he said its because i didnt listen to him and because we ganged up on k, and then i told him that that was at completely separate times and he just made more excuses than he started saying that hes upset at me and because of me hes throat hurts (he had a surgery a few weeks ago and hes throat hurts when he drinks wine and he drank while we were speaking).
I have no idea why hes treating me like this because i get the best grades im the most polite and i look exactly like him. My theory is he just wanted a girl after my brother and was upset when he found out i was a boy.
And at this point i just need suggestions, because i am a very nervous and non confrontational person. Please help . (thanks for everyone who read this).
