Advice for a Plumbing Leak from a Neighbor’s Unit

2023.06.02 20:11 wdluger2 Advice for a Plumbing Leak from a Neighbor’s Unit

TLDR: my wife and I live in a condo in California with an HOA. We have a leak from our ceiling that is being caused by our upstairs neighbor. He does little to fix the leak. The HOA is not willing take charge fix the leak and bill the appropriate parties, or any other help. What do we do next?
—-
My wife and I live in California in a condo with an HOA. At the beginning of this year my wife and I noticed a leak from our ceiling. We called the plumber who had done repiping work for us; the plumber said it was not his work. We later called a 2nd plumber, who also said it was not our pipes, but our upstairs neighbor. He said he could not do anything; our neighbor needed to call a plumber and get the leak fixed.
We told our neighbor, who called his home warranty. The warranty company wouldn’t do anything. He called his realtor who brought a plumber. This plumber said our neighbor would need to replace his bathtub. The tub is 40-years old and fiberglass. Our neighbor refused.
He eventually found another plumber. This plumber has tried small-scale patch-work: replacing the drain, resealing faucet valves, which has not helped. Within 24-hours of a visit it’s leaking again.
We have kept the HOA and our HOA’s management company in the loop. We let them know that the leak is ongoing and we are worried about mold and rot to the structure of the building. They have refused to help. To them it is a personal matter between two units in the building.
We contacted our Home Owner’s Insurance. They said they cannot do anything, but the HOA should be able to intervene.
At this point we are wondering what to do next? Is it time to call a lawyer? Should we look into placing a lien on our neighbor’s condo? We just want the leak fixed.

2023.06.02 20:05 My_Own_Bi_lyfe Should I Ditch the Restaurant?

New Job Alert! Hello all! I currently work as a line cook at night and have only been doing so for a month. Prior to accepting the offer, I was in the middle of getting hired by a skilled nursing center as a full-time, 40-hour dietary tech. By accepting the diet tech job, I will moving up in life. My hours are 4-8 (Sunday) and 4-9 (Thursday-Saturday). Should I keep both jobs and eventually drop the restaurant job or simply drop the cook job? I enjoy being a cook but I also like working in the dietary department of healthcare facilities. Any advice is needed. For context, the restaurant hasn’t been busy and have told me not to come in a few times already (the entire restaurant by the way). Both pay the same per hour and I believe I can do both. Schedule wise, there are zero conflicts.

2023.06.02 20:04 BadApprehensive5559 Translation of the stream of Eversax (KC Coach) talking about the Spring Cup, KC, Vitality, Bracket reset, Toxicity on social media, The RL scene farming impressions, etc.

New stream of Eversax talking about KC after the Spring Cup. I don’t know how many interviews we will have so I wanted, at least, to translate the recap of Eversax as usual.
This translation will be long and separated into 3 parts:
- Part 1: Spring Cup (Preparation, Vitality, BDS, Grand Final, ExoTiiK, Itachi, Playing many BO7s, fatigue, bracket reset)
- Part 2: Negative side of social media for “unpopular opinions” from “fans” and Pros/Coaches/Casters (Toxicity, pressure to perform, Negative comments, people farming impressions, mean people on the internet)
- Part 3: Other information (EU/NA level, player’s performance, Vitality's winning streak, best coach)
Link to the replay: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1831882651 (starts near: 8.23)
I would advise you to read the parts talking about Vitality + Part 2.
→ Part 1: Spring Cup
● Spring Cup
- Preparation (12.58): He was happy since they improved compared to the Spring Open. A top 4 is a great result, but they were not good. They worked a lot between the two regionals since they had to improve after the long post-Major break [In the last translation Eversax explained that they didn’t prepare correctly before the first regional due to schedule conflicts]. His players wanted to come back so bad but it was more negative than positive. Indeed, they started to play too much and It’s not the best thing on RL. You don’t use your time efficiently and you often finish by playing without thinking so you don’t improve. That’s why he told his players to take a break of 3-4 days between the two regionals. It was risky, but It worked because they played much better during the Spring Cup. It was the first time that KC started to play well throughout the whole minor.
- Devil Fruit and PSG Tundra(14.45): On Friday it was quite easy because they were stronger than Devil Fruit and PSG Tundra.
- Guild (15.03): To reach the top 3 they had to beat Guild, a team that won against Oxygen. He thinks that KC played really well leading to this no-match (4-0). Everything was controlled but he can’t say if KC was too strong or if Guild was too scared. He said that because Guild was totally different when they had to play against BDS. But in any case, they reached the semi-final winner bracket by beating Oxygen so Guild deserved to be there since their bracket was not free.
- Winner bracket final against Vitality: Vitality played well as usual while KC was just bad. It was a no-match and they were better so they deserved to win (11:20). Their weakness was more about mentality and maybe the last regional impacted their series. KC had difficulties playing well while Vitality took advantage of this weakness from the beginning. But as usual, there was no problem with the team and they used their break after to speak together (15.45). This sweep allowed them to realize that, in their head, Vitality was different from other teams and it was one of the reasons for their bad performance. Fortunately, they solved that for the next matches and it should not be a problem anymore. That’s not something new because they had the same apprehension with BDS and rival French teams last year. They took these matches too seriously even though they should not make any difference between opponents (1.00.40).
- BDS (16.12): When they came back after their loss against Vitality, KC was not the same team. Fortunately, this defeat didn’t negatively impact his players and they won 4-0. Even though it was closer than the result, they played well and you could see that KC was the better team on the field.
- Grand Final against Vitality: As a bracket reset is difficult he wanted his players to try their best. And he thinks that’s what they did (16.57). During the first series, they took advantage from the beginning and the games were great. In fact, he said that it was the most beautiful match he had ever seen as a coach because everyone was playing so well. It’s difficult to explain it but he had this special feeling where you had only 3-4 opportunities to score in each game because players were making few mistakes. The winner was only decided on who would have taken advantage of more opportunities. However, after the bracket reset, they had to play an OT of 5 minutes in game 1. For Eversax, It was not difficult mentally but It added one more game and players started to accumulate fatigue. It’s short but also exhausting since you don’t have any breaks + every game is intense. He still thinks that KC was able to fight until the end but Vitality deserved their win because they bounced back after the bracket reset. Indeed, they still had energy after the 2-2 to punish small details while KC was making mistakes that they were not used to doing (19.40).
- Preparation for the next regional (20.03): You could see that fatigue affected all players and the last 2-3 games were difficult with all these mistakes. Now he knows how to prepare his players better. Usually, they prefer to eat less before matches. But when you have to play 4 BO7s from 5 pm to 10 pm without anything in the stomach, it’s not the best thing. So they’ll try to adjust that for the next minor.
- Importance of each regional (21.25): Each minor is important to prepare the MajoWorlds. That’s why KC cares so much about minors and they’ll work even harder to win these tournaments even if Majors and Worlds are more prestigious. Why? Because all their efforts will allow them to prepare for the last step: Worlds.
- ExoTiiK: ExoTiiK was particularly good against BDS because he led coms. Eversax didn’t understand why some people thought that he was the weak link of the team because performances depend on the three players and not only one of them. They win and lose together (51.18). People continue to underestimate him but Eversax understood what ExoTiiK can do when he’s peaking. In general, he goes on every ball and he controls his moves so well despite his 0.30 dead zone (1.02.15).
- Itachi (1.05.14): Eversax was so proud of Itachi because he started the Winter Split thinking that he was the best player in the World, but after the 3rd regional + Major, he was a little bit disappointed. Eversax felt like Itachi was missing a small thing, but during this minor, he saw this small thing again. And overall he’s so proud of his 3 players.
- Conclusion of the Spring Cup (44.35): He’s proud of their run. Indeed, his players were individually strong in the first series of the grand final and they improved since the last regional. Yes, a top 2 is not enough, but that’s also good to have some competition within a region for motivation and improvement. This rivalry between KC and Vitality will push each team further and they are creating hype for the next minor.
● Double-bracket elimination format
- Playing many BO7s (08.38): Eversax thinks that players can play 4 BO7s in a row but it’s difficult to prepare these runs. It's the particularity of this format and different from the two other splits where you normally play 3 BO7s on Sunday with breaks. He thinks that BDS would have struggled much more since they started their loser bracket way before KC. A longer break could have helped, but he can’t blame the format because you can rest if you stay in the winner bracket. That’s why the only solution as usual is to win.
- Fatigue during the bracket reset (11.50): We saw that It was difficult to stay at a high level between games. They made so many mistakes due to fatigue and it didn’t affect only KC. For example, Radosin’s own goal was unlucky and he saw that he was tired too.
- Mentality throughout the bracket (12.25): It’s difficult to not mentally drop after a 4-0 but KC bounced back and swept BDS too. They even won against Vitality once to reset the bracket. Maybe playing in boot camp would have helped to deal with fatigue but it's difficult to play at that level for so many games with so much coms.
- Is resetting the bracket too difficult?: He knew that this format gives a huge advantage to the winner bracket so it’s almost “impossible”/too difficult to reset the bracket and win the final. He just wanted the team to play well from the beginning and try their best (16.45). Still, for Eversax, this format is not the best. Indeed, it’s rare to have a bracket reset and you can see it because, for this season, KC was the first team to reset the bracket. It’s so rare to reset the bracket, but even more to win the second series. And he would say the same thing if KC was still in the upper bracket. You should have a clear advantage for the winners, but not a 80% chance of winning. Still, Vitality played well and they needed an advantage. The format is the same for everyone and if they want to rest more, KC has to win, so there’s no excuse for their loss in the Grand Final (19.05).
- BO9 with 1 game in advance (11:40): For him a grand final in BO9 with one game in advance for the winner bracket could be interesting. However, he thinks that Psyonix will never accept BO9s so It’s complicated.

2023.06.02 19:55 Wiggles2121 Sewer line backup dilemma...different opinions from different plumbers

Hello askaplumber, I'm here to get another opinion on a plumbing issue we've been having. In January, a floor drain in our basement started backing up with sewer water. We had a plumber who came out, rodded the line, hydrojetted it, and then scoped it to tell us it was clear. We thought that the issue was solved until this past weekend, when the drain started backing up again.
So we got a different plumber out who scoped the line and said we had a collapsed line in our front yard! He put together a quote to replace the entire line from the house to the street, but then we found out that our sewer company has a program to pay for the repairs of a collapsed or leaking sewer line. The next day, a tech from the sanitary department came out to scope the line and make sure we qualified for the program, but he could not find any collapsed or broken portions. So at this point we're a bit perplexed because we're getting conflicting information from different plumbers. So the next, we get a different plumbing company to come out and take a look.
He scopes the line and does not find a collapse/break, but does find a ~30ft long belly in the line under the yard. He also found significant rust/corrosion on the cast iron pipe underneath the house. So he puts together a quote for replacing the line where the belly occurs and also milling/descaling the cast iron pipe. The quote comes in way higher than we were expecting ($18,000 to replace the line...maybe this is in fact a fair quote, I'm currently calling around to other plumbers to get additional quotes).
Based on discussions with family friends who are contractors/have plumbing knowledge, we're still getting a lot of differing opinions. Some people say that descaling the cast iron under the house will increase the flow enough to push waste through the belly. Others have said that descaling could wreck the pipes and that fixing the belly is the way to go as the reduced flow through the rusted pipes wouldn't matter anymore. We're having whiplash as it seems like every time someone new looks at the issue, they come up with a different reason for the backups and a different way to fix it.
I'm hoping the reddit hivemind can give us some advice on how to proceed. Thanks!

2023.06.02 19:38 AndyChouArt Tooth extracted, when to implant?

Tooth extracted, when to implant?
Posted a question a couple weeks back about root canal/extraction, but like an idiot I posted another patients x-rays instead of my own. Here is that post: https://www.reddit.com/askdentists/comments/13l4vty/went_to_the_dentist_today_was_told_i_need_a_root/
Well a week after that post the tooth in question (#46), previously achey and throbbing, became excruciatingly painful - couldn't sleep, eat, focus on work, etc. My dentist had nothing open in his schedule for the next fortnight so he sent me to a dental clinic in town for a root canal. I went in last night, the dentist advised against the root canal/crown and instead recommended going for the extraction/implant right away because 'the fracture extends the length of the tooth'. I would have liked to have kept my real tooth but the pain was so bad I quickly acquiesced - which now I'm regretting a bit as the tooth was really stuck in there and came out looking healthy, at least to my eyes. After the procedure he said I should return in 6-8 months to do the implant. Previously when discussing extraction/implant as a backup plan with my regular dentist, he mentioned immediately prepping for the implant after the extraction procedure with a collaplug?, but when I asked the dentist last night about it he said 'we don't do that here'.
In your opinion, how long should I wait after the extraction for the implant, and also if you can tell by the x-ray if I am a good candidate for an implant, would I require a bone graft, etc. 40 yr old male. Would be grateful just to hear your thoughts on all this. TIA

2023.06.02 19:27 IDEKBRUH57 She’s gone forever

This girl who left me WARNING STRONG LANGUAGE Here is a description of the Woman, short Latina beautiful brown eyes the most perfect smile of all time. Her name was Leslie.
My name is Ezekiel I’m tall dark skinned and have honey black eyes and dread locks with a pretty nice smile ig.
It all started when this girl asked me out. After I got done playing football I was shirtless sweaty and bruised up a little bit. Leslie asked me out in a weird way like it turned me on. Leslie touched the middle of my chest and then moved her warm soft hand downwards to my abbs and rubbed them gently and I thought like this girl a freak and pretty but back to the point.
This is what Leslie said to me she said hola papi quieres salir conmigo para poder dar la noche de tu vida but I didn’t know what that meant so I asked her to say that in English. She told me what she said and I was like the time of my life what does that mean. She said just say yes and you’ll figure out papi. So I said yes to Leslie. Me and Leslie had a date scheduled on may 15th at a expensive restaurant at 7:40 pm.
The restaurant was great I’m talking about it was perfect and Leslie walked in and her beautiful green dress was the most perfect thing I’ve ever seen her body looked perfect her smile looked perfect and her makeup and eyes were just lighting up my night. Leslie looked so beautiful that night. So during the date Leslie kept rubbing my foot under the table with her foot and she looked at me and winked at me and I winked back. So Leslie had chicken Alfredo and I had a cesar salad. We talked about eachother a day and we both kept smiling at each other but she said this in Spanish quiero montar tu polla tan bien papi so I was confused again so I asked her to say that again in English but she said you look handsome tonight. Leslie didn’t know I knew Spanish but after we had sex and it was great it went on for a hour but anyways besides that we started dating and slowly and slowly she was getting more distant but like she still showed love.
One day a guy called Leslie and said some hey mama I wanna eat your pussy tn but it said pa so I was confused but then it hit me I was getting cheated on. Later that night I confronted Leslie and we got into a fight but I gave her a second chance.
So I had cheated on Leslie and if your reading this now I’m probably dead right now because I’ll tell you the story of what happened so Leslie’s friend came over and she had touched me and we kissed and had sex she walked in on it.
Leslie pulled out a gun and shot her friend but it was one bullet in the gun so I’m in a hiding spot under my stairs right now hoping she doesn’t find me because she is screaming my name I called the cops but they won’t be here for another 25 minutes so I’m writing this story to tell my last thoughts.
Mom your the best woman in the entire world nothing comes before you and mother has a chance of coming behind you that’s how special you are to me you raised me alone when my father passed you broke your back and knees to make sure you have what I need to school and thank you for that mom.
And for you Leslie I’m so very sorry that I had cheated on you, you mean a lot to me and I love you so very much but your crazy and your the world to me but I did something unforgivable even tho I gave you forgiveness but it is what it is she is breaking in the stairs I love you all and have a great life this is the end of me. Goodbye and don’t forget Ezekiel.

2023.06.02 19:26 obamasleftpussylip finally quit

i finally quit chipotle after too many years. this place is a prison, an endless trap. you weave your way out of the store and it sucks you back in with its perks. decent pay? yeah. insanely flexible schedule? you got it. work with cool people? for sure. hard work appreciated and acknowledged with more than a 10 cent raise? absolutely not. this job will suck every ounce of work ethic out of you, exhaust you, eat you up, and then it won’t even spit you back out because they need you so badly. it’s almost impossible to even get fired from this place. with a GM who won’t work night shift, sits in the office all day, schedules you with little closers, and talks garbage about every single employee behind their backs, starting workplace drama and strain.. you will find every fiber of your happy being drained and shit out all over the chipotle floors to be cleaned up with a dirty, crusty red mop that nobody has replaced in a year. the customers are entitled, rude, and demanding. you’ll find yourself standing there with a man behind your line making his own bowl, or someone prying the DML window open to get your attention. and you’ll think to yourself “how the f*** did i get here.” not to mention, the crew members below me can do just as much work and make $13/hr while new hires who do nothing get started with $15/hr… the worst part is truly believing that you worked hard, and hearing it from every crew member that mattered. and to hear from management above you that they either don’t care, or that you had “issues” you needed to resolve. word of advice for you newcomers. don’t. do not get stuck in this prison. it’s not worth it because the company DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU at all. you can choose to ignore and pursue, but soon enough you’ll find yourself calling this place what my coworkers and i called it every day: chipurgatory

2023.06.02 19:04 im_trying_adhdedit How to deal with breaks

I dont know if this is a share or question but the last few months have been rough between school and work. I just graduated with my doctorate and am waiting for my exam and licensing to process before I can start work. The downtime is so draining between being off routine, having to manage my own schedule, and battling resting vs being productive around the house (every adhd nightmare of endless executive functioning). Ive managed to fill a couple weeks with babysitting, social outings with friends (when they arent working) and wedding planning but Im still so off. I even started a Muay Thai class twice a week just to have some form of a routine. Any other tips for how to kill time for the next month before I can (hopefully) finally start working? Its not like I dont have piles of “to do” lists… im just struggling.

Substantive Pathology:
The contemporary problems of psychological pathology are rendered out of the precocious hubris of early social pattern, taken out of the early values. 2023.06.02 18:43 Megisphere Hot tub barely heating.

I have a hot tub that I recently got working. It is fairly new and it came with the house. The hot tub is under 5 years old and was off for 2 years. I tested the amps(16.7) and voltage(238) on the heating element and the volts are good. I think the amps are good but Idk what it should read tbh. I just know it shouldn't be 0. It is heating only about 1 degree an hour and that is if I turn on the jets to force the heater on. The jets keep timing out and turning the heater off. Any ideas what I should take a look at and if this is expected for a recently filled hot tub. Filter is new but pipes are a little dirty. Cleaned the hot tub and filled and drained it twice now. Planning on getting the cleaner to flush the hot tub one more time. Could this just be dirty pipes/pumps? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

I know I need to wait on the ThyroSeq results. But, with this type of result should I be realisticly preparing for a PT? Do they already know my final Dx? Curious from the last sentence. The waiting is driving me nuts in the meantime. I do have an ENT follow up scheduled for 6/15 to further discuss the findings.

2023.06.02 18:27 Maygii [Math] Complete Rubilia Analysis/Guide

[Math] Complete Rubilia Analysis/Guide
Rubilia is here! How does she fit into current Volt teams? Let's take a look with our usual analysis, starting with her kit, and then moving on to advancements and matrices, then finally, teamcomps, rotations, and comparisons!

Video Version

[Math] Complete Rubilia Analysis/Guide

TLDR

Theoretically up to 10% powercreep over Umi GNN comp, though in practice, 12-18% of your damage is from A1 which requires enemies to stand absolutely still, and you'll lose a good amount of that.
Worse than Tian Lang if you don't have A3 Fenrir, and better than Tian at A1, A5, and A6 when you do.
A5 is the most important advancement, A6 and A1 are small bonuses, A3 nigh useless

Kit

Rubilia's kit is very straightforward. The core of it revolves around her Crystamax Thorns, so we'll start with where they come from - her discharge.
Her discharge generates 3 Crystamax Thorns around the target, while increasing Volt Damage by 7% for 30 seconds. While these thorns don't inherently do anything by themselves, they are essential to the kit. The discharge also gives you 2 charges of Feedback, which enhance her dodge attack with a few bonus effects. It causes each dodge attack to do 72% additional damage proportional to the amount of thorns, and then also heals the thorns for 25% of their max health, while resetting their position and duration. So, why does the health of the thorns matter? Let's look at her skill next.
Her skill causes her to draw enemies together, draining up to 100% health from the Thorns. While the Thorns have health to drain, each hit deals an additional 40% damage x amount of Thorns. As such, it is important to make sure to use the dodges after her discharge to heal Thorns back up, so you can get as much bonus damage on this skill as possible. Note that generating new Thorns will not replace old Thorns, even when said Thorns are out of health. The health drain effect on the Thorns additionally counts towards any effects that require you to lose a % of your own health, making Rubilia's strength primarily lie with Fenrir's A3, which deals a large amount of passive damage as you lose health.

https://preview.redd.it/62wucakodm3b1.png?width=635&format=png&auto=webp&s=e2ebc63b094fd16af51160d3f28f5a43c1f332ee
Her trait grants 8% Volt Damage for each Volt weapon equipped, as a unique multiplier separate from matrices. This trait gives an edge to triple Volt teams, which we'll touch on later.

The rest of her kit isn't too much to write home about - her basic attack damage can't compare to that of Fenrir, so all her value is essentially in her skill and discharge.

MV/s Notes
Rubilia Auto 248%/s Good at charging
Rubilia Aerial 317%/s Good at charging
Rubilia Auto Hold 266%/s This makes you dash way past the target but can be useful as a gap closer
Rubilia Plunge 281%/s
Fenrir Auto 481%/s Includes note detonations
Fenrir Aerial 387%/s Includes note detonations
Fenrir Plunge Roar 520%/s Includes note detonations

She has a funny passive where she can turn a non-boss Grayspace entity into a temporary ally, though the value of this is questionable, as the damage potential of mobs to other mobs is irrelevant, and you essentially make a mob invulnerable from yourself. Aside from combat, though, she offers some neat utility with an unlimited jetpack and super fast gliding!
Super fast gliding!

Let's now look into her advancements and their values!

Advancements

We'll examine the power of each of Rubilia's advancements in two teams - one team with Fenrir and Fiona, and then a triple volt with Fenrir and Tian Lang.

Rubilia's A1 adds a DOT effect around each of her thorns after triggering Feedback, dealing 66.7% damage every 2 seconds for 30 seconds total. This adds a good amount of damage in both comps, though note that a lot of the potential of this advancement may not be realized in content where enemies move constantly.
Next is her A3, which generates a Thorn when using any weapon skill or discharge. This helps the initial ramp-up, but does absolutely nothing after, as newly generated thorns will not replace old thorns. As such, this only improves damage by a minor amount, and is more useful in shorter fights than longer ones.
Her A5 causes Feedback to restore the HP of Crystamax thorns by 50%. This is a very significant advancement, this allows you to fully restore the HP of thorns after each discharge, allowing you to benefit from the full bonus damage on the subsequent skill.
Finally, her A6 causes her discharge to grant an extra 12% Volt damage buff when casting. This adds a good amount of bonus value to both comps.

Rubilia Advancement Gain from A0 in Fiona Volt Gain from A0 in Triple Volt
A0 100% 100%
A1 118% 113%
A3 121% 116%
A5 143% 132%
A6 159% 147%
Overall, her advancements are relatively more important in the Fiona comp than the triple Volt comp, and this makes sense since Fiona is a buffer, the raw damage on Rubilia's advancements are worth relatively more. Note that, again, this is not a comparison between comps - we'll cover that later!

Next, let's go over matrices.

Matrices

Rubilia's 2-piece increases Volt ATK unconditionally, working in the offhand. This boosts damage by a decent amount, though this effect is mostly inferior to the Fiona matrix, which might as well be up all the time. The 4-piece effect increases all elemental damage when dealing damage with a Volt weapon. This elemental damage stacks additively with Scylla and Tian's matrices, so note that using multiple of these options together would be inefficient. In addition, this increases the Crystamax Thorn limit from 5 to 6, which contributes quite a significant amount of damage. How much, exactly, let's take a look...

https://preview.redd.it/zrykcvpjem3b1.png?width=934&format=png&auto=webp&s=8063f690a0ce11f22e0343c13744af2c4d1c6b4d
Rubilia's matrix blows the rest out of the water, even Fiona's matrix. However, do note that this is with all A6 units - if you do not have Fenrir A3, then the value will be relatively smaller. Without the +1 thorn effect, the Rubilia 3* matrix is worth around +46% damage instead of +61%. Due to how damage is distributed fairly evenly between Fenrir and Rubilia's on-field time, matrices such as SamiShiro are relatively weaker now because of it.

Teamcomps

Let's start taking a look at different teamcomps and their rotations, starting with the Volt + Altered team.

https://preview.redd.it/iz5wkjhoem3b1.png?width=1223&format=png&auto=webp&s=022b9d470decf3172c94f8a3d50c01a1b8a13f69
The ideal team here consists of Fiona, Fenrir, and Rubilia. There really aren't any suitable replacement options, as a lot of Rubilia's synergy falls with Fenrir A3, and without that, the damage falls flat. Lin can work as a replacement for Fiona, but note that these raw comparisons do not include matrices, which would push Fiona even higher. We use Hydro Focus and Wellspring as skills here, for the generic buffs. Torrential Force can be a viable option if you want to do the double discharge rotation, which involves discharging to both Fiona and Rubilia every rotation, as opposed to only Rubilia. We use Fenrir, Fiona, and Rubilia matrices here. Tian's matrix is phased out in a meta comp due to stacking additively with Rubilia.
"Why is Lin so close to Fiona here?"
Fiona discharge is skipped in a Rubilia rotation, and this table also does not include matrices, and Fiona's matrices are quite a good amount more powerful than Lin's. Also, execute damage is not included.

For demonstration purposes, an optimal parse with starting charge will be used. You can perform the same rotation minus the discharges, but the ramp up will be slower.

https://preview.redd.it/f9p1qe5xem3b1.png?width=1266&format=png&auto=webp&s=3209e4973486264c7b842ac70db1b92df78c613f
Start out with Fiona's skill, and then switch into Fenrir. Use her skill, followed by A1 to dodge to A1, cancelling the end of the second A1 to discharge to Rubilia. Use her skill, followed by two dodges, to heal the Thorns back up. Autoattack for a couple seconds to wait for Fiona's skill to come back up. Switch to Fiona to use her skill, then back into Fenrir, where you use her plunge to roar combo until her A1 comes back up, and then do A1 to dodge to A1 again, cancelling early to go into Rubilia again, where you do the same as before: skill, and two dodges. Use Fiona's skill again, and then go to Fenrir and start a new Songworld. The rotation for the second Songworld is NOT the same due to Rubilia's uneven skill cooldown. As such, you'll DPS on Fenrir as normal, doing your A1/dodge combo twice, and then a couple plunge roar combos, before going out to Rubilia for her usual skills, then going into Fiona for her skill, and then doing another Fenrir A1 combo. From here on out, the rotation repeats.

https://preview.redd.it/7yc7pp9zem3b1.png?width=1185&format=png&auto=webp&s=403744daa5a1d1c75745026e814346e100c3259f
A triple Volt team consists of Tian Lang, Fenrir, and Rubilia. Replacing Tian Lang with Nemesis is a viable option if you don't have Tian Lang invested in, but other replacement options are pretty copium, especially if you replace Fenrir. Here, the ideal matrices to use are Rubilia, Fenrir, and Tian Lang.
The Tian rotation plays pretty much the same the Fiona rotation, except you swap into Tian less frequently due to his skill having a longer cooldown. Here, I'll copy pasta that rotation over here for reference.

https://preview.redd.it/7ax9eip0fm3b1.png?width=1273&format=png&auto=webp&s=d0cdd207259a754129ce514d54da28bfcac6ff0b

Comparisons

Let's dive into comparisons! But not before going over our DISCLAIMER, to note that you should take numbers with a grain of salt, as this is theorycrafting, and the numbers shown will be the theoretical maximum, which may not reflect actual combat!

The first important question I want to answer is, "how is Rubilia without A3 Fenrir"? Simply put, not good at all. Fenrir's A3 has so much synergy with Rubilia, that without Fenrir A3, you're probably better off running something else, like Tian Lang, speaking of which, here's a comparison graph of varying advancements of Rubilia and Tian, with Fenrir A1. As you can see, Rubilia is... quite weak here, overshadowed by Tian Lang completely. Next, we'll look at one with Fenrir A6 (the real breaking point is at A3, I'm just using A6 as an example). Here, Tian A3 can perform better than Rubilia A3, especially considering that Rubilia's A1 can miss a lot of damage against moving targets. However, using Tian does mean you'll be hurting yourself a lot, so that's the tradeoff. Rubilia becomes stronger at A5 and above, and recall that Rubilia's matrix buffs her up a ton, so she takes quite an investment to raise the bar. I can't believe they made another Cobalt-B.

https://preview.redd.it/jbhjfdqlfm3b1.png?width=590&format=png&auto=webp&s=da2b246cc84e5a467c4a086ad95ecc90a605abf7

https://preview.redd.it/gp9l7fp3fm3b1.png?width=626&format=png&auto=webp&s=0e1300bdff7a1d550c00376ae39e1816701179bc

https://preview.redd.it/47kqb2w4fm3b1.png?width=622&format=png&auto=webp&s=ff22abe9e47eafcc15b282d12b9a930439d26676

Now, how does Volt compare to the rest of the meta? At the maximum investment, Rubilia can theoretically top the DPS charts, though I need to emphasize again that usability is a concern. Her A1 accounts for roughly 12% of the total damage, and a lot of this damage is lost when fighting any mobile targets, so this cuts her value substantially. The triple Volt team lags behind the Rubilia comp a bit, but this comp has more raw damage and is relatively less reliant on Rubilia's A1 damage.

https://preview.redd.it/7jnyvxe7fm3b1.png?width=864&format=png&auto=webp&s=309dc0310552f979cd3cb93597c93cbb483f5cf0

In a dolphin investment comp, Rubilia only raises the bar by a small amount over Tian Lang. The triple Volt comp also does better than the Fiona Volt comp here, as at this investment level, since limited matrices aren't considered, Fiona's powerful matrices don't give her that extra boost.

https://preview.redd.it/az6qrth8fm3b1.png?width=867&format=png&auto=webp&s=bcebfa03235115c159300c5e1f6e1741569f17a5

At an F2P investment, Rubilia is a downgrade from Tian, especially seeing that this is chart is comparing A1, and A1 Tian is useless so you only really need A0 to reach the previous Volt level of damage. That being said, that doesn't mean Volt is in the bad place, as it's still doing better than F2P Physical and Altered, and roughly the same as Frost.

https://preview.redd.it/3gsd5fq9fm3b1.png?width=865&format=png&auto=webp&s=4524351b7e9983630b70795f09c1e8ee42c1c4ae
TLDR: Rubilia is not F2P friendly, unless you appreciate her model or exploration features.

Summary

Rubilia can be a powerful addition to Volt teams, but needs a high investment level, in both her own advancements, matrices, and even requires Fenrir A3, to function properly. Her kit design is questionable, as you can grief yourself with her grayspace mind-control skill, and her value is literally defined by one specific advancement on another character. But hey, at least she has a nice model!

https://preview.redd.it/0vyfn1jdfm3b1.png?width=330&format=png&auto=webp&s=d24cc236ddd44f8483401edb79b2e7b4ca4144d8
This concludes my Rubilia analysis.

2023.06.02 18:20 EldrDrunknHighlandr Storming off by repeatedly stuffing a toad into a Blood Funnel - Tatsunari Toadstorm

Hello again EDH! I am back once again with another magnificent pile of optimized jank. This time I've made a [[Tatsunari Toad Rider]] storm deck that uses a card you hardly ever see... [[Blood Funnel]]!

This deck stacks triggers so that you get a toad for casting an enchantment and then sacrifice said toad for a discount on said enchantment. All our enchantments draw us one or more cards and we can use various mana generators to keep churning through our deck casting enchantments to our heart's content. If you want to learn all about the deck itself we have a deck tech for it here! You can also find the decklist here. Honestly, the deck is pretty simple. Like 40% of it is just cantrip auras.

As always, though, I like to use the contents of my Reddit posts to go beyond just what is discussed in the video, so in this post I will be discussing storm combos in (high power) casual commander and ways you can play them while making them less painful for opponents, using this deck as an example.

This deck wins by reducing the cost of cantrip auras via Blood Funnel while filtering draws using [[Abundance]] and creating mana using either [[Cryptolith Rite]] and a haste enabler or [[Earthcraft]] and some land auras. [[Intruder Alarm]] on a dork would work too and so would [[Eutropia Twice Favored]] combined with [[Crystaline Crawler]] although I chose not to include those last two. Once it has a critical mass of stuff it casts [[Flood of Tears]] after floating mana to start it all over again, this time running out a [[Destiny Spinner]] so we can keep Blood Funnel and our toad Keimi around long enough to drain the table for lethal. Admittedly, it takes a while and can fizzle out. Honestly, to me, that's part of the fun.

Understandably so, many opponents can get frustrated when a pilot starts moving around cardboard and talking to himself for five minutes straight and then looks up at the table and says "so I win?" Heck that.

As a casual storm enjoyer I often run into this problem, and since I don't always want to switch decks into something less stormy (Like this Vampire Dinosaur Tribal deck, for example) it is often up to me to make my storm turns as bearable for my opponents as possible. There is more to this besides just playing fast.
Primarily, its good to mention in the pregame talks that you have a storm deck. You don't need to say how you storm off but it is good to let the table know what to expect. I find mismatched expectations are the primary cause behind the salty commander games I witness.

Beyond that, shortcutting (with permission) can always help save time. For this deck, for example, you can shortcut Abundance triggers by just saying something like "I will be declaring nonland unless stated otherwise" so you don't have to announce each time. Same goes for Blood Funnel. As fun as it is to say "trigger!" every time something goes off just powering through stuff once opponents say its okay to speed up is a good way to not waste peoples' time.
You should also be prepared to let opponents scoop. Sometimes, yes, you might not get there, but if an opponent is scooping its because they believe the outcome of the game is more or less decided and would rather shuffle up and play more Magic than wait on the off chance that you fizzle. I know its cool to go through the whole line but if the table doesn't wanna see it, it can be best just to respect their time.

You can also find players who enjoy storm combos and other jank casual nonsense. On our Discord server, for example, there are a lot of players who love to build weird shit and as a result also enjoy dying to other peoples' weird shit. It is the jank circle of life, baby.

That more or less wraps up the post. Let me know how you would prefer people to play storm against you (if at all) or what you do to make games easier for your opponents. Also if you haven't already, check out the deck tech for Tatsunari Toadstorm. This is probably the best deck tech we have ever made for this channel (and we have been around for a bit so that's saying something) and I am incredibly proud of it. Enjoy the deck and stay janky, my friends!

2023.06.02 18:19 coffeegolightly Sleep & nap training at 8.5 months

We recently moved into our new home and our LO finally has his own room! Last night was night 1 of ST him again. He fell asleep after 30 mins (with only 15 mins of crying) and he slept until 7am! We couldn’t believe it. He didn’t even cry for a feeding which was the first time EVER. He only got 10 hours last night, but I’ll take it! I hope he can eventually sleep for 11 as he still seemed a little tired when he woke up, so we will try for an earlier bedtime tonight.
Anyway, we have been contact napping and would love to get him to nap in his crib, too. We tried today and it did not go well. He stood up and cried and cried for 30 mins. We ended nap time with a goal of trying again in half hour. He started falling asleep in my arms after 15 mins so I tried to set him in the crib again. Nope. He did not like that at all. He stood up and screamed for another 10 mins. I grabbed him to contact nap and it took him 10 mins to settle which pushed his 1st WW to 4 hrs. Now I’m scared I am not setting him up for success tonight.
Does anybody have advice on how to navigate this? I’ve read to train for nights first then naps after. But naps seem soo much harder (our LO is a little fighter with 90s Mariah Carey pipes) so I would like to do both for consistency. What do you do when your baby protests naps in the crib?? Crib hour? Contact naps forever? Send help, lol. Thank you in advance!!!
Current schedule: 3/3-3.25/3.75-4. Naps: 2.5 hrs

2023.06.02 18:13 Ambitious-Quail-7618 I can’t wake up no matter what I do

I am so, so tired of this. I (32F) have a fairly severe case of ADHD, and unfortunately I also have an intolerance to stimulants. Adderall (generic) worked amazingly but the side effects were too severe to continue. I was able to have a schedule and wake up at 5 AM every morning to shower and get ready when I took adderall, but since I can’t take it, I’m back to being COMPLETELY unable to wake up in the mornings.
I have an hour+ commute including daycare drop off, I need to be out of the house by 7 at the latest but I’m leaving at 7:10 or later, I’m late to work by 15 min every single day (luckily they don’t care). I can’t make myself get up until the very last minute, usually about 6:40 and then it’s a massive rush to get myself and my daughter ready. I snooze my alarms a million times and I can never get myself in the right frame of mind to realize I absolutely cannot go back to sleep. I’ve tried alarms that talk to me, play my favorite music, nothing ever works - I’m just SO tired that I cannot possibly force myself to wake up and when I say I have no motivation to get up, I mean it. None, zip, zilch. No matter what time I go to bed, this happens. I genuinely don’t know what to do, I’m at my wits end. Please help!

2023.06.02 18:08 K80_k Find myself with 3 dogs and a new job and commute and little time

For the last 4 years I worked from home, a combination of working from home for others and being self employed. I took a new job where I have a roughly 30 minute commute now.
I've had Dog H since he was a pup and now he's 10 years old, not going to change anything with him.
Dog N was my boyfriend's dog though we got her together and we've had her for 4 years. He and I just broke up and he decided he didn't want to keep he take her with him (which blows my mind because he used to love her so much) anyway he said I could keep her or he'd rehome her. I was put on the spot hadn't really thought about that potential outcome and so I still have her. She is not very well socialized and is afraid of people and dogs and will bark at everything.
Dog O is 2 years old, we/I got him so that when Dog H passes I wouldn't be getting a new dog at that time, and so Dog N wouldn't be alone with Dog H passed. A month ago I had a friend visiting the house, we were in the backyard, dogs inside. I had recently installed a High Tech Pet door with collars that activate the door on a timer so I could let the dogs in the yard mid-day when I started my new job. Dog O was inside the house barking at my friend and jumped up and activated the door which I had turned off, ran outside and bit my friend. I was able to get Dog O inside and get my friend an ambulance. Dog O was then taken to the shelter for a 10 day quarantine by Animal Control. I brought him home on a Friday and I was starting my new job on Monday and I was overwhelemd. I found an awesome trainer and left Dog O with him for a week of board and train. Now Dog O is home and doing well with training but it's a lot when I have so much less time than I used to due to full time job and an hour of commuting everyday.
I am getting a dog run installed, but in the past I let Dog H and Dog N out in the back yard during the day and the neighbor complained they were barking. I have tried leaving them in their crates all day (after they all get walks and some training in the morning and they all get walks when I get home too) but Dog O peed in his crate a couple days ago. Then I tried leaving them out of their crates but Dog N peed by the door while I was gone and once after I got home and was busy in the other room.
I am scheduling a board and train for Dog N to get her speaking the same language as Dog O. I'm not sure if I should rehome her. Dog O is becoming a joy to walk with the training so maybe Dog N will be easier to walk with that intensive week of training in a couple weeks.
I never wanted to have 3 dogs on my own. The break up and him not taking his dog and my emotions and starting a new job with a new schedule is just A. LOT. and I don't know what to do. I haven't been able to take good care of myself during this time either from a combination of not having time from taking care of the dogs, and my own recent food sensitivities that are making it hard to eat.
My friend asked yesterday if I could board all the dogs for a month to give me time to figure it out... I might be able to swing that financially but I don't know that I want to spend my savings on that. Maybe 2 weeks?
I feel like I need to wait for Dog N's training week to see how she does (it doesn't change things at home immediately but it shows me what's possible. Dog O is almost a new dog after that training week and we are continuing weekly training sessions.)
This is emotional and expensive and so draining. I don't know what to do or how to make a decision. In the past I have just tended to not make decisions and let them be made for me by the choices of others but this time it's really impacting my life and wellbeing. Like if all 3 dogs were great and I could walk them together for an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening that would be great but that's not these dogs (yet). And I don't know how long it would take to get to a place of being able to walk them together. I can go through a rough time for a bit if there's a light at the end of the tunnel. I kept Dog N for 3 months while giving my now ex "space" and I never would have guessed after that he would decide NOT to keep her. I love all 3 pups, this is so hard.

2023.06.02 18:03 SoraDonaldGoofy99 Challenge Dex 58: Mr. Mime

I also now have Mr. Mime done and ready to go. He just is not one of my favorites.
Up to Brock: Moveset: Confusion, Barrier Insane breezing through the game, and I gave Gary Squirtle this time. Not sure it was the smartest move for having the greatest challenge a Mr. Mime could have, but there we go. He went through this part of the game so quickly. Confusion swept through everything. Even Brock. I didn't even bother with Gary 1A this time.
Up to Misty: Moveset: Confusion, Barrier, Mega Punch, Light Screen I got a Spearow on the way through Mt. Moon. Nothing in it gave me any trouble, though I did pick up Mega Punch. While Mega Punch in most runs helped me at least get through this part, Mr. Mime could not hit a Mega Punch to save his life. Almost every time I selected it, it failed, so I was usually spamming Confusion. Mega Punch still hit Gary 2's Abra to kill it off. Confusion took me through the whole of Nugget Bridge. I also got the S.S. Ticket. After all of that, I headed to Misty. After an attempt, I learned Light Screen during the fight. The problem with fighting Starmie was the water damage, and even its Tackle could still kind of hurt. Once I learned Light Screen, I activated it and alternated between both Mega Punch and Confusion, they both did similar damage. Eventually, Starmie fell.
Up to Surge: Moveset: Confusion, Barrier, Body Slam, Light Screen After I headed to the S.S. Anne, I went and picked up Body Slam. Bye bye Mega Miss... anyway... I managed to beat Gary 3 quite easily as well. Confusion hit Pidgeotto and Raticate out of the fight. Body Slam was still enough to annihilate Kadabra, and Wartortle backed off due to Confusion. I got Cut, and traded Spearow for Dux. I took it, Cut through the tree, and then got to Surge himself. All I did was set up Light Screen and spam Confusion through the fight. Mr. Mime is just good, okay? I admit to it.
Up to Erika: Moveset: Psychic, Barrier, Body Slam, Thunderbolt Yeah, Mr. Mime is great because it can learn Thunderbolt, giving it a tiny advantage over Alakazam. Anyway, I went to Rock Tunnel, not even having any trouble, and went to Gary 4, where Thunderbolt annhiliated most of his team, and I Body Slammed his Exeggcute a few times to get rid of it. It also killed Kadabra again. When I got to Celadon, I bought drinks to get Psychic immediately. Once I did, I swept Erika away with Psychic alone.
Up to Koga: Moveset: Psychic, Meditate, Body Slam, Thunderbolt I arguably made the worst mistake in this run possible at this point. Getting rid of Barrier for Meditate. In practice, Mr. Mime actually appreciates improved Defense over a buffed Attack. I just anticipated needing Meditate to kill Exeggutor by endgame far easier. Not the case. It was fine, however, for now. Giovanni 1 just went out to repeated Psychics. Nothing in Pokemon Tower really gave me a problem either, and while Mr. Mime isn't as strong as Alakazam in the Psychic department, it didn't have any concern with the Snorlax, either. I learned Meditate in the middle of the Koga fight much like I learned Light Screen earlier. I was buffed on my Defense in case Weezing decided to go boom, but it did not. It didn't even try to Sludge me, and I know Mr. Mime is Fairy type later on, but it sure isn't a factor now.
Up to Sabrina: Moveset: Same Rival Fival gave me some trouble, killing me a few times. Mostly because I got smacked hard by Growlithe's Take Down ironically enough. It finally became a remote concern. Damn. Give this doggo a clap, everyone. Once I went from Level 40 to Level 43, though, I took him out despite the Take Down problem. Giovanni 2 should be pretty obviously easy by now, and Sabrina wasn't too bad. I was just gonna buff myself to deal with Alakazam at first, but a crit Psychic shook my sails a bit. I Body Slamemd through both her Kadabra and Mr. Mime, and despite a Special drop, I took down her Venomoth with Psychic. Alakazam died to Body Slam, too, despite Recover saving her once or twice.
Up to Blaine: Moveset: Sacre bleu! No concern here, at all. Psychic spam was enough to win.
Up to Giovanni 3: Moveset: Croissant? Even more Psychic, straight up. Even his other Ground types besides the Nidos die to it fairly quickly.
Gary 6: Moveset: Le... pew? That's not even Francois!! Don't know a lot of French. Either way, needed to use Rare Candies. I did set up Meditates on Pidgeot, at least somewhat, before zapping the bird out. Rhyhorn took a Psychic, as did Growlithe. Exeggcute died to Body Slam, and even Alakazam died due to the slams. Blastoise took the zapdown.
Elite Four: Moveset: Psychic, Reflect, Body Slam, Thunderbolt My first attempts didn't have me using Reflect, but as I can't relearn Barrier to make up for my failure, I had to do something else. Once I went with this, I made it to the end with very little other troubles.
Lorelei: With Meditate, I could buff myself up enough to take Lapras out in one shot. Otherwise, I had to hope Blizzard didn't freeze me. Thunderbolt works on everything else, and Body Slam can kill Jynx pretty much every time. One thing I could have done is maybe save Meditate just for near the end, and keep it until then if I really wanted to use Meditate, I think...
Bruno: Come on. What do you think happened?
Agatha: Psychic was enough.
Lance: This was when I needed to use Reflect. If I tried Meditate, my defense was not buffed up enough to take it. If Lance is good at beating ANYTHING, it's Pokemon with terrible Defense. Hyper Beam is a big oof. But Gyarados is never a problem because Thunderbolt, a doyeee... Once I learned Reflect, though, I took everything far better. While my power was a bit lower overall, Psychic managed the Dragonairs and Dragonite well enough. And Aerodactyl was shocked out of the fucking sky.
Champion Gary: Set up Reflect immediately just to not deal with big physical damage. Thunderbolt zapped Pidgeot away. Alakazam was still easy enough with Body Slam. Rhydon died to Psychic. Exeggutor took a little bit of effort. Body Slam wasn't doing enough, so I began spamming Psychic. It finally died after a Special drop. Arcanine died to Psychic, and while one Thunderbolt didn't kill Blastoise off, Blizzard didn't freeze me, so I hit with another one and won.
I won at Level 70 and at 3:47.

2023.06.02 17:37 YellowGecko0 I suspect my husband is cheating on me at work…

I hate to even have thoughts like this but I can’t help but suspect it…
Husband of 13 years been acting strange lately and in the mornings he’s been leaving earlier than usual.. like at first he was leaving at 5:30 because his shift started at 6.. now all of a sudden he’s leaving at 4:30 because his shift suddenly changed to 5 a few weeks ago—- his paychecks are the same as before— that extra hour isn’t reflecting and sometimes his checks are less than what they typically are but he says he’s working his full 40 hrs and the HR ladies must keep “messing up his checks”.
Plus it only takes him 8-10 mins to get to work so I don’t see why he has to get there so early anyhow.
Not only this but he’s been getting offered to go places by his work— a baseball game, a 3 day raceway event, 3 luncheons, and a go kart day etc… I can see workplaces doing things like this every once in a while but… all the time like multiple times a month… a small factory? Seems odd.
He makes 18.54 an hour… works 40-50 hrs and gets paid bi weekly.. I can understand taxes being taken out but if he works the hours that he says he works then how is he only bringing home 1100-1200 bi weekly???
And he’s just been acting strange/distant… we still do have sex but it’s only like once or twice a week if I’m lucky. And he only lasts like 2 minutes. I spend the whole time giving him a blowjob & then he sticks it in and lasts 1-2 minutes… there’s no pleasing me / it’s all about him… I don’t mind but I’m starting to get annoyed. Plus there’s no like… intimacy… he f*cks me but never cuddles me/holds me.. nothing. He doesn’t rub my back or feet… nothing. I’m just getting irritated. It’s just all about him.
Something seems off and idk if he’s cheating or doing drugs but it’s something and I’m really not sure how to bring it up… I’ve brought it up in the past and he just gets pissed off so I don’t like to even bring it up.
Idk but it’s kinda eating me upside.. so much so I’ve been having terrible nightmares of him with another woman and leaving me & our 4 kids for her. It’s awful.
I know people will say “has he given you a reason not to trust him?” And I will say yes… about 3 yrs ago I caught him on a dating website and a p0rn website with an account where he was talking to other account users. We split for a month after that until I took him back because he was a wreck and regretted it—wanted his family back— claimed he was “just trying to make money but never met up with anyone— it was all just sexual chat”.
Since the incident he has left his phone laying about unlocked for me to go through it whenever and of course I haven’t found anything but I just wonder if he’s gotten better at hiding it?
I’m trying my best to trust him and it’s been fine up until these last few weeks when he started acting funny and work schedule changed etc paychecks not reflecting hourly & working hours…
So… what should I do?? I feel like buying air pods and putting them in his truck if I’m being honest… even if he’s not cheating or doing drugs it might make me feel more at ease? Can air pods record sound too or just location???
Also, how should I bring up my concerns to him without him flipping out? Thanks
